hypochondriac Posted 23 October, 2009 Share Posted 23 October, 2009 "Uncomfortable" would be a better choice of word... Certainly. Personally I wouldn't be comfortable walking past any people virtually eating each others' faces, even more so if they happen to be of the same sex. Save it for the privacy of your own home is my motto.

Johnny Bognor Posted 23 October, 2009 Share Posted 23 October, 2009 I think you will find other members of the EU did put quota's on and remained in the EU Look, just give up debating with someone who makes things up as he goes along to suit his argument. I have already pointed out that only the UK, Ireland and Sweden did not impose quotas whilst everybody else did. Even when Labour's Immigration Minister admits it (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...on-policy.html), the lefties will still not have anything bad said against their precious party. hypochondriac Posted 23 October, 2009 Share Posted 23 October, 2009 It is fairly amusing that people want to censor the BNP and pretend they don't exist in the name of democracy when they fail to realise that they are in opposition to a democratic society when they deny them the right to air their views. I found myself shouting at the screen in agreement when Bonnie Greer said her point about the British public. FINALLY someone gives us some credit and doesn't believe that just because Griffin is on Question Time that we are going to swallow everything he says and become fascist. It's nice that people have faith in the common sense of the British people for once.
Joensuu Posted 23 October, 2009 Share Posted 23 October, 2009 So in your world, anyone who has an issue with immigrants/Islam.....the French/Jocks/Paddys....etc [...] is a Racist!!!!... Yup, sounds like a crude, but basic correct definition to me. (Obviously, you'll need to replace the specific national-centric variations with something more generic and more specifically related to race, but it sure is a good first attempt )

Lord Duckhunter Posted 23 October, 2009 Share Posted 23 October, 2009 Until the Govt ban them the BNP are as entittled to have as much air time as any other party that secured the votes and seats they did. It's a bit rich Peter Hain and Diane Abbott calling for them not to be allowed on, and yet their Govt wont make them a proscribed organisation. In terms of his performance I thought any reasonable person would have found him shifty and unbelievable, however no reasonable person would ever have voted for him and his thugs in the first place,so I doubt if he lost many votes.I can hardly see people watching and thinking "I was going to vote for them, but didn't like Griffin, so I'll vote Tory". The whole thing was a set up from the word go. There is plenty of mainstream Muslim opinion that would ban homosexuality and yet the question is never posed to any of their leaders in any BBC forum.Question Time, could be a really good programme, but it is spoiled by lightweight guests and pathetic questions. The BBC's political output is a joke. This week, that follows is just Portillo and Abbott flirting with each other and the Jock with the syrup making unfunny jokes. You get better debates on here. Sheaf Saint Posted 23 October, 2009 Share Posted 23 October, 2009 Lol......again!!!!. So in your world, anyone who has an issue with immigrants/Islam.....the French/Jocks/Paddys....etc, that differs to that of the tree hugging left, is a Racist!!!!...now that really makes me laugh. Why is it ( and I've said this before), why is it that the Minority in this country, have the biggest say????, simple, the majority are silent. That my friend, is an undenyable truth. On other threads here in the lounge...the insults have mainly been posted by those with a left leaning slant...........why????.....what are you afraid of????? Pardon the analogy, but why does everything have to be so black and white? why do you consider anybody who is disgusted by what the BNP stand for to be a 'tree-hugging lefty'? You complain about left-leaning posters throwing insults, but is that not just as much of an insult in itself? My political views may well be left-leaning (if they must be pigeon-holed), but I personally take offence at being labelled a 'tree-hugging lefty', just as much as anybody who is right-leaning may take offence at being called a nazi. A bit of double standards on your part there, if I may point that out to you without you getting insulted by it. If you read through my posts you will realise that I am not claiming that anybody who has a problem with immigration is a racist. Nowhere have I said that, and in fact I made the point that the large majority of the population of this country, me included I might add, do believe that there has been very poor control over immigration over the last decade. I believe this is something that you and I agree on, yes? The point I am making is that Nick Griffin is a vile, narrow-minded, bigoted little man who has a conviction for inciting racial hatred, and that anybody with the slightest amount of intellect and researching skills can see through his veneer of respectability and see him and his party for what they really are. There are plenty of alternative, effective solutions to the immigration problem, but voting for the BNP based purely on their perceived stance on this one single issue shows that the voter is either a) a strong follower of the BNP's views on race (ie racist) or b) completely unable to see the truth of what they really stand for. I can read.............now listen to what I have said....regardless of the fact that he may or may not be the Bigoted liar you 'say he is'...why the need to label his believers as either Simpletons or Racist. IMHO the term 'Racist' is bandied around why to easily, in much the same way as the term 'Hero'.....my point being made, is that according to the left, if you have a differing view of their future Britain, then you are a Racist. You can vote for the BNP knowing they will never get into a position of power if you think it will create change without supporting any of the racist views of Nick and his party. Not sure you entirely grasp the nature of "offensive terms". Isolating a single group in a derogatory way based purely on nationality, skin tone, physical appearance, religious views, lifestyle choice or anything else is, to be brutally honest, not on. Calling someone fat, thin, tall, short, Jewish, black, Indian, Australian is fine. Hell, if I could, I would wheel out a fat, black, Jewish Australian for you and call him that. The trouble starts when you use the terms with malice attached. IE "You Black bastard", "shut up you fat ******" etc. Now tell me, the term "jock". Do you think Scots like that term being used, or do you think it is tinged with the latent xenophobia and superiority complex that most English people have inside them? It sure as hell aint a term of endearment. And to me, whose wife is Scottish and son is therefore half-Scottish, it is an insult I take offense to. Amazingly, the Irish in me wasn't to happy with your "paddy" remark either...

There is a song called baa baa white sheep which is sung as well as the original person (there is also a pink sheep version!). It may be a policy at a specific nursery or chain where she works but I know for a fact that it is not a national thing. Why resort to words that have nasty insinuations through past mis-use to describe people? Why not say 'asian' 'red-headed' if that's the only way you can distinguish one person from another. Maybe limited intelligence means such people don't have more sophisticated words to describe people? Why be insulting? Why say 'that fat bloke over there'? Why not say 'that bloke over there with the Portsmouth shirt on'? I'd hate myself if I insulted someone - even someone that I didn't know and unintentionally.
