Baj Posted 11 September, 2008 Posted 11 September, 2008 Listening to their new album now, anyone else have opinions I could use, I wouldnt want to get it wrong...
JB Posted 11 September, 2008 Posted 11 September, 2008 Your father's gaaaaaaaaaaawn. It reminds me a bit of get your father's gun....sounds similar. The lead singer looks a bit old for that sort of thing.
JB Posted 11 September, 2008 Posted 11 September, 2008 Oh and they are too Scottish live. Really annoyingly so.
SuperMikey Posted 12 September, 2008 Posted 12 September, 2008 Tbf they're not as annoyingly Scottish live as The View. Glasvegas are truly awesome, haven't got the album yet but I have listened to it at a friend's house and it's really good. Sounds like The Smiths on a holiday in Scotland with Interpol.
Rattlehead Posted 12 September, 2008 Posted 12 September, 2008 I have never heard them but I have them down as being a younger version of The Proclaimers. Hopefully they will walk five thousand miles North.
Saints1980 Posted 13 September, 2008 Posted 13 September, 2008 Just had a little listen - they are truly awful.
Michelle Posted 14 September, 2008 Posted 14 September, 2008 Had a listen on the way back from QPR today, one wonders if it may be a grower. Certainly not a stop-dead-in-your-tracks stunner on first listen.
Ludwig Posted 17 September, 2008 Posted 17 September, 2008 One half-decent song and the rest try to emulate the exact same sound, but fail and are crap. Dreadful.
Thedelldays Posted 17 September, 2008 Posted 17 September, 2008 trouble is....edith bowman and jo whiley seem to be (predictably) creaming themselves over them
Julian H. Cope Posted 17 September, 2008 Posted 17 September, 2008 Well having no preconceptions, not having heard them or read any reviews I thought the album was very good. There you go.Something nice on this thread for a change.
Saint_Jim Posted 18 September, 2008 Posted 18 September, 2008 Had a listen on the way back from QPR today, one wonders if it may be a grower. Certainly not a stop-dead-in-your-tracks stunner on first listen. +1 (not the QPR bit tho )
SimonRichards Posted 19 September, 2008 Posted 19 September, 2008 I saw them ay the Guildhall last year supporting Ian Brown. They had one good song and the rest was ****ing sh1te.
Ponty Posted 20 September, 2008 Posted 20 September, 2008 TBF I've seen worse bands plying their trade on Myspace 'n that but they're pretty awful.
Durleyfos Posted 22 September, 2008 Posted 22 September, 2008 I saw them ay the Guildhall last year supporting Ian Brown. They had one good song and the rest was ****ing sh1te. I was there too, they were shocking. What was the drummer all about? Was she a fat bird they picked out of the audience and told "Here's some sticks, ramdomly hit the drum now and again" also, lol @ the singer for keeping his shades on all though the set. :supz:
MK Saint Posted 23 September, 2008 Posted 23 September, 2008 They sound like a heavily watered down shoegaze band from the early 90's to me. However I will wait until I see them support Echo & The Bunnymen until I judge them fully.
Rory Posted 12 October, 2008 Posted 12 October, 2008 I really like it, actually. A definite surprise.
