...and their vacant managers post. Would they be interested in Pardew and if so would Pards realise he's onto a good thing here although it may take him a bit longer to get back into the Prem?

Just noticed my poor spelling in the title (early morning) - MODS help out - why is there not an option for a thread owner to not edit titles anyway?)

did cross my mind, I'd like to think he's put so much into the last few months that it's going too well to walk away from.

Also a team that is right up there with a good chance of promotion will be besieged by everyone including Tony Adams, Roy Keane, Rafa Benitez and Paul Hart (next week for the last three)

I don't think Pardew would move all the way up there for a job, if you think he has alwayas managed down south.

If the Reading manager loses his job i'd be more concerned, i know he left them for West Ham but I think they'd be interested in him

I do not think Pards would go up to the wet & cold north, where this club has not had a great reputation in the past as big spenders on really good players. This is what they will need to do to get back in the Premiership at the end of the season.

Never say never, but I'd be very surprised if AP walked out on Saints in the next 2-3 years.

He's got everything he needs here and is on the verge of building something really good, with all the fan and boardroom support he will ever need.

I think Pardew is here to build something over a longer term, and this isnt about getting promoted to the CCC, this is a journey that takes us to being an established premiership team.

He has owners with the funds and the vision to achieve that, and a club with the facilities and fan-base. He has just built the squad he needs to achieve the first objective. This is a rare opportunity in Football. So for me , unless one of the more established premiership teams come knocking, any move will not better where he is now. I hope im right.

I would have thought AP has been there and done it and rewalises that the grass is not always greener. Id be amazed if he walked from us to another job.

AP is also rebuilding his reputation here. The better he does with us, the bigger his next job. If (sorry, when) we get to the CCC, he will be looking for a Prem job I think. I would say Boro is too small a club, too early in his rebuild.

Second.... and also hope you're right! :)

We need to get used to this pretty damned quick.

3 or 4 more PL teams and probably the same amount of CCC teams will lose their managers by the end of this season.

I am reasonably satisfied that AP knows he is on to a good thing here, and that there are enough other bright young guns available to distract these teams attention from him.

Strachan and Pearson will be the favourites, I'd have thought. Doubt Pardew's even on their radar at the moment.

Strachan was called out by an ex-'Boro pro on Radio 5 this morning as a name that had been mentioned amongst those close to the club. But he then qualified that by questioning whether Strachan would want the job.

I work with a couple of smoggies. The talk is all about Strachan, so it won't be him then ;)

More worried about Liverpool tbf....

No value for him in Boro, his roots are more southern anyway and would expect the Boro job to go to someone more "northern" in outlook...

But Benitez's job comes up? hmmm any manager on the planet would look at that one even WITH their offfield troubles

Liverpool aren't going to appoint a manager from second to bottom of league 1.

With all due respect to Pards, I don't think Liverpool, if the times comes, will be looking at a newly appointed Leauge 1 manager. Which is good for us!:)

Liverpool will be able to attract a host of managers, even the ones allready employed at top-tier teams all over Europe. Don't think Pards would get a sniff, IMHO.

i think pardew will only be leaving if he gets us into the upper echelons of the champoinship, and by that time would prob only go to a decent prem club, so im not worried about him leaving any time soon. He wont be applying, and they won't be approaching imho

I saw Tony Adams briefly on the Arsenal highlights last night. He was clearly mouthing 'I'm the new Liverpooll/Middlesbrough manager - they've been after me for ages' ;)

Posted
I'm not sure he'd want to jump ship after only three months. He's building something good here and he has the resources to achieve great things.

Agree entirely and coupled with the fact he has a somewhat tarnished reputation to rebuild I think he will stay for the 'project'

He won't get yet.

But it is always a worry when you have a successful team and you're in the third division.

It's always hard to resist the overtures of higher division clubs. Let's just hope we get promoted quickly and can get back amongst the higher division clubs..

Pardew is at a very big club already.....We are on the way back.

Middlesborough should consider those two Dutch boyzz..JP and Wotte....It might just work one day.....

Trouble is they must both be at top European clubs at the moment and it would cost too much to buy them out of their lucrative long term contracts I guess.

Can't see AP leaving for Boro. We are on the up and they are drifting.

AP has been given the chance to resurrect a big club back to where it belongs - the premiership.

He's working under a cash rich guy who seems to have his head screwed on the right way and seems to have all faith in AP.

He'd be mad to switch to Boro.

Actually that would be interesting to see... but obviously not from a boro fan's point of view!

I don't think we've anything to worry about AP knows he is on a good thing here, he has been given a clean canvass here & is able to re-build a club from the foundations upwards along with NC. I'd be more worried if I was Leicester City supporter today as NP ticks all the right boxes for Middlesborough, if NP is offered the job who would you rather work for Gibson or Mandric?? not a difficult choice realy is it.

just been down to ladbrokes and stuck 20 quid on pearson at 14/1.....decent bet at those odds....strachan is 1/5...

Mandric has told SSN that Pearson is not in the running. He also said they're talking to Edgar Davids, with a view to signing him.

he would say that though wouldn't he...also am pretty sure the davids signing is mandaric's idea and not pearson's...showing off to his mates....can't see it happening

Perhaps they will buy themselves out of their own contracts.;)

To sack him after a win, means they must have someone lined up and if Strachan is such an odds on favourite then something is known.

Strachan always ends up odds on favourite for any job that's going. He is the bookies favourite pot-boiler. People always put money on him whether he's interested in the job or not.Middlesborough will probably end up with some half-baked third choice manager. Why they sacked Southgate when they're fourth in the table and a point off the automatic places, both occupied by fellow descendees, sure beats me.Can only be about money

Boro is a depressing toilet of a place - quite why anyone would want to work there is beyond me.

This may be true but it has the best indie club I've ever been to in terms of the Empire. If I were Pardew, I would be tempted because of this.
