saintwarwick Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 You have to laugh at Gibson's quote, "the margins are fine and we are one point of the top, it would have been different if we had not beaten Derby" but they did!! You couldn't make it up.
Thedelldays Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 He is a crap manager and they have been poor for a long time with him Pearson is the early favourite to get the job

Saint_Jonny Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 So they win a game and he gets the sack? seems a bit spastic to me... Idiots.
St Landrew Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 So they win a game and he gets the sack? seems a bit spastic to me... Idiots. Agreed, the timing appears poor, but it must have been something that Steve Gibson has felt for quite some time. Presumably, in his mind, it was better to do it now, while they are in a good position, to let someone come in and not have to fight them out of a relelgation position. Hatch Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 Only 17,000 turned up last night. Maybe thats why Gibson sacked him. The punters don't like the football they are getting.
corsacar saint Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 The reason he was sacked is primarily because The Riverside gates were at an all time low, because the fans disliked the football they were playing at home.[ That is from my cousin a life long Boro fan]. S-Clarke Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 Well you can't say Gibson hasn't given him time he's was in his third full season and they've got shockingly worse as each season goes on (they haven't exactly pulled up any trees this year have they?) Southgate lacked something to be a top level manager IMO, i think he'd make a good assistant or coach though.
Saint 76er Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 So they win a game and he gets the sack? seems a bit spastic to me... Idiots. Talking of idiots... didn't Lowe do exactly the same thing to Luggy, and after only three games that season IIRC?
