Asaint4ever Posted 18 October, 2009 Posted 18 October, 2009 (edited) Sorry if been mentioned before but how likely is it that we sign trotman in jan? As i think he is just amazing! him and jaidi just work so well. id be gutted if we lost him in january! Surely pne have kept an eye on him and seen he's a class act? Edited 18 October, 2009 by Asaint4ever
Bailey Posted 18 October, 2009 Posted 18 October, 2009 Think it's probable that we'll extend his loan spell here until the end of the season at least. Would be fantastic if we can sign him on a permanent basis, but I don't know if he is in Preston's long-term plans.
Fergie Posted 18 October, 2009 Posted 18 October, 2009 yeah i was gonna start a very similar post earlier...my feeling exactly. You need players like trotman in this league, no-nonsense, i'll hurt you today and i'll crunch you harder if you get past me again kinda player!! would be awesome if we signed him, he obviously knows how the club is being run and that were now a club on the up with a 5 year plan to get back to them premiership! although if we dont sign him i do feel pards will get someone better looking at how great he has been in the transfer market so far this year!! we'll just have to wait and see!!
Fan The Flames Posted 18 October, 2009 Posted 18 October, 2009 Preston are short of a few bob and he had a falling out with the manager before he left. They are not doing too badly in the league so are not likely to change manager, so they should be up for an offer come Jan. Also if we are doing alright and the terms are good he may well be up for it as well. We will have to show him a lot of love between now and January.
sambosa75 Posted 18 October, 2009 Posted 18 October, 2009 Dont fancy our chances at all. PNE sold Sean St. Ledger to Boro and Trotman would be fit to slot straight in to their side once his loan ends. I'd lve us to sign him, he's exactly what weve needed for years but I'm sure he will go back to Preston unfortunately.

sambosa75 Posted 18 October, 2009 Posted 18 October, 2009 if he is their answer then why is he here..? St Ledger was sold on deadline day, Trotman was loaned before that deal. I think the St Ledger deal was too good for them to turn down. Trotmans rated by all at PNE, I think their manager wanted him to get some experience under his belt.
Fan The Flames Posted 18 October, 2009 Posted 18 October, 2009 if he is their answer then why is he here..? there was no return clause.

farawaysaint Posted 18 October, 2009 Posted 18 October, 2009 Frankly PNE have said they're in the dung financially so if we make an offer and, crucially, if he doesn't get an offer from a higher division I'm sure we could keep him.
Saint Bones Posted 18 October, 2009 Posted 18 October, 2009 Preston are short of a few bob and he had a falling out with the manager before he left. My mate is a lillywhite ( Ha Ha - gayest name in football ??? ) and he has mentioned the two above facts before. Wether its just forum rumours or not I'm not sure. Mind you after getting done 4-0 by QPR overnight maybe AI is looking at his defense - Does anyone know if he has a re-call clause ?
Saint Charlie Posted 18 October, 2009 Posted 18 October, 2009 No recall clause. By all accounts Trotman loves it at Saints and Pards knows how vital he has been so it will be a big priority come January. I think he will try to sign Antonio too, sounds like he is promising!
Glasgow_Saint Posted 18 October, 2009 Posted 18 October, 2009 St Ledger was sold on deadline day St Ledger is on loan at Boro HTH
Badger Posted 18 October, 2009 Posted 18 October, 2009 Preston are short of a few bob and he had a falling out with the manager before he left.. That was also my understanding of events. When he signed I think someone put a link to a PNE forum where this was widely talked of,to the point that Trotman would not be playing for Irvine again.
Toomer Posted 18 October, 2009 Posted 18 October, 2009 Could PNE be in the position as we were in last season they have to get a few off the wage bill, hence they have loaned a few out. Come January they could have to sell a few and we could well get Trotman at the right price.

Come January they could have to sell a few and we could well get Trotman at the right price. I'm pretty sure that if we offer what they find acceptable, they'll sell. They're in a position where all their players now have a price - 700k - 1m is a reasonable range for Trotts IMO. i really really hope we sign him up on a 5 year deal, he can climb the leagues with us.
Mr Saints Posted 18 October, 2009 Posted 18 October, 2009 I heard Preston are going to offer £3 million for Lancashire and let Trotman stay permanently as part of the deal. Seriously, I hope Trotman will be here until the end of the season at least.
corky morris Posted 18 October, 2009 Posted 18 October, 2009 I would put signing him in January as priority no 1!

Toadhall Saint Posted 18 October, 2009 Posted 18 October, 2009 I would put signing him in January as priority no 1! Thats my view.
alpine_saint Posted 18 October, 2009 Posted 18 October, 2009 Thats my view. Its the view of any sane Saints fan, but why must we wait until Jan to negotiate with him ? I'd like to see the deal done now.

Bearsy Posted 18 October, 2009 Posted 18 October, 2009 It'll be a lot easier to "get the Trotts" in January if it looks like we'll make the play offs. Players of his quality won't want to spend another year in league 1.
hypochondriac Posted 18 October, 2009 Posted 18 October, 2009 Is Preston's manager Benthelegend? =/ LOL.
sambosa75 Posted 18 October, 2009 Posted 18 October, 2009 St Ledger is on loan at Boro HTH Permanent deal already signed and sealed. Deal was agreed after the deadline, so had to go on loan as opposed to announcing a permanent deal. HTH, smug bar steward. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/middlesbrough/8257190.stm

This is indeed the view that many PNE fans subscribe to; they also think the £500k they paid for him is about £300k too much.

Well i for one wouldnt say it to his face anyhow!!
Smirking_Saint Posted 18 October, 2009 Posted 18 October, 2009 Great little player, thought the first time i saw him he looked a bit uncomfortable but he and Jaidi have completely eradicated my fear of set pieces
krissyboy31 Posted 18 October, 2009 Posted 18 October, 2009 Great little player, thought the first time i saw him he looked a bit uncomfortable but he and Jaidi have completely eradicated my fear of set pieces. And added a threat at the other end!
Smirking_Saint Posted 18 October, 2009 Posted 18 October, 2009 And added a threat at the other end! Indeed. I remeber the start of the season, watching us give away free kicks and thinking f*ck. Now i can just sit back, Harding, Trottman, Jaidi, Davis are all just solid.
Deanovski Posted 19 October, 2009 Posted 19 October, 2009 can some one one show me the thing about him arguing with irvine?
SaintBobby Posted 19 October, 2009 Posted 19 October, 2009 Really rate Trotman, and hope we keep him. But as others have said, Pardew has shown himself to be quite exceptional - to the point of genius - in the transfer market, so I don't think we need to be too worried - just hopeful.
Chez Posted 19 October, 2009 Posted 19 October, 2009 Its the view of any sane Saints fan, but why must we wait until Jan to negotiate with him ? I'd like to see the deal done now. good point, but the likelyhood is that Preston would not want to sell a player now that they might need later in the season. Mind you if the momey is right they could use that to buy someone else I supoose.
West End Saint Posted 19 October, 2009 Posted 19 October, 2009 If we only sign 1 player in Jan I will be very happy if it is Trotters I think he has been class and has been getting better since playing along side Jaidi. He is young for a centre back and will only get better if he continues the way he is going so he would be a good investment for us. Marcus sign him up Marcus Marcus sign him up
Chez Posted 19 October, 2009 Posted 19 October, 2009 Great little player, thought the first time i saw him he looked a bit uncomfortable but he and Jaidi have completely eradicated my fear of set pieces funny I was saying to a mate the other day that I genuinely don't feel nervous at all at set pieces. I don't think I have ever been able to say that regarding Saints. Great isn't it?
