Secret Site Agent Posted 19 October, 2009 Share Posted 19 October, 2009 It seems to me at leats the AP has begun to do what we have been screaming out for for a long time, and that is identify where we are weak and bring in a signing to turn it into our strengths. Also he has introduced other options to allow us to keep teams guessing. 'Will they play 4-3-2-1? If so, how do we counter that? and if they go 4-5-1? 4-4-1-1?' Opposing managers will need an American Footbal playbook for defence. I have liked our wing play of late as well, and can see Connolly coming on as the impact player. I think old Pards is spot on so far in his decision, especially his eye for a player. And my final word on Connelly? He must have wobbly eyes to look at one point and kick it in a completly different direction. I juyst hope he doesn't suffer from the 'debut disease' that we have where ALL our new signings score on their debut, and score well, then go off the boil. The9 Posted 19 October, 2009 Share Posted 19 October, 2009 Nice finish, obviously gave the keeper the eyes - a shame he didn't already put five in the bottom right corner so he actually needed to do it though.
Foxstone Posted 19 October, 2009 Share Posted 19 October, 2009 An absolutely class finish that followed a great first touch. Pray god he remains fit and healthy because if he does, I am convinced he will add so much value and class to our already decent squad.
krissyboy31 Posted 19 October, 2009 Share Posted 19 October, 2009 Reminded me of a MLT penalty, where quite often the body shape suggested the ball was going in one corner, only for an almost double-jointed ankle to flick it in the opposite direction. Iowsaintsfan Posted 19 October, 2009 Share Posted 19 October, 2009 When he was through all i could see in his eyes was he was going to hit the back of the net, missing wasnt an option i havent seen that look for a very long time in a Saints striker! Cabrone Posted 19 October, 2009 Share Posted 19 October, 2009 As Claridge said on the BBC - if he can stay fit then he's going to be a handfull. As for the super sub option - if he (with Lambert) is our best striker then I'd play him from the off. Got to pick the strongest 11 for every league game. He's too good to leave on the bench - so hello 4-4-2!
gordonToo Posted 19 October, 2009 Share Posted 19 October, 2009 He is too good to leave on the bench but it's also too much of a risk to ask him to play 90 minutes at the moment. The super-sub role seems the ideal compromise.
