Do we have the best squad in league 1

Leeds looked good last night and with the addition of Vokes and Gradel + L1 experience + form makes them clear favourites and imo a better side currently than us.

They have also in the main, played together a couple of seasons and been gradually improving. Play-offs last year, automatic this. I think due to our start and the -10, we will miss out of the play-offs this year but will gradually improve, add one or two in January, again over the summer and maybe a couple more next January. I fully expect us to emulate them next season and go up as champions.

Still think AP will employ another one or two come January. May already have some in mind.

He would be silly NOT to.

We don't want to spend longer in this Divsion that absolutely necessary.

If we can hold this good form, we would be within striking distance of the play-offs and every able-bodied player would be needed.

I think the key will be keeping everyone fit. We have a pretty settled side and that has been key to getting things moving. Losing one or two players to injury or suspension could easily upset our momentum, and that's what will be on AP's mind right now. Any signings in Jan need to provide good cover. CB could still haunt us if Jaidi or Trotmann are out, and we are right royally in the mire if KD gets injured.

Looking at Leeds squad tonight, we've got a bit to go yet...

Beckford, Vokes, Gradel (bench), Howson, Snodgrass, Bechio, Bromby....Doyle...not half bad, i must say.

Hopefully ours can be on par with that from jan onwards.

Replace Wooton with a "defensively minded Hammond type" and I don't believe there will be a team in the league to touch us. Don't want to be too critical of Wooton because he is doing a job for us, but I feel this is where the biggest improvement can come from.

with this side and in this form we can beat anyone. This could snowball into something magic.

Agree, there is a lot to do , but how good is it just to be supporting a team that is playing effective, attractive football !

Ive taken my son to saints games for 3 yrs now, and it is only now that he has been able to experience what it is like to turn up to a match with a positve expectation that we will play well. Early days , but the boy has some heroes, like we did as kids - Ricky lambert, llallana (spelling) , Papa waigo, who can provide that bit of magic which makes footballl so special......and for that alone Marcus and Pardew et al have my grattitude.
