Yeah, I've got that one. It's ITV's effort. Such a shame the Beeb don't issue their coverage on DVD. I'll always remember David Coleman's brilliant commentary when Saints scored.

Jim McCalliog, upto Stokes, who's onside... 1-0..! Southampton Go Mad..!

So much more evocative than dear old boring Brian Moore.

We have a copy of that LP too (family heirloom!) Its been signed by most of the 76 squad (alas no Bobby Stokes RIP...)

Got loads of other saints players from the late 70's on it as well.. loved the commentary on that LP, can't remember the guys name who did the commentary for BBC radio but he had a fantastic voice...The bit before and after saints score is etched in my mind....Seven minutes to go..>!!

Listen to the fans rendition of Saints Go Marching In as the teams are presented to the dignitaries before kick off.

That is how it should be sung.

See me up the lampost outside the Civic Centre on Sunday.

I've got the LP as well. The commentator was Peter Jones I think. The summarizer who says something like "wouldn't one of these teams like to break the deadlock now" just before the goal was scored was Duncan McKenzie.

Yes I do have the necessary record deck. I also have the facility to record straight to a computer, to produce an MP3.

Pity you're not a member. Find someone you know who is a member on here to PM me with your details, and we'll find a way to make it happen.

Cheers.

True. I actually find the way the present day Saints supporters sing it slightly annoying.

Yes it was Peter Jones and he called David Peach, "Page" throughout the commentary.

I met him about 5 years later, when he presented "Brain of Sport" and he was still embarassed by his error. A true gentleman and sadly missed

Thats the guy.. Was ay my parents over the weekend where said LP still resides and forgot to fish it out for another look at....

. Think I did actually record it to tape a long time ago, and the idea of getting it put on to MP3 would be cool too....Its good to listen to the speeches and stuff from the homecoming parade, knowing I was there in the crowd, all be it at the tender age of 3 !! I still have my FA cup winners T shirt my dad got me, (childs size small!) its on my Ted that I still have from childhood !
