benjii Posted 14 October, 2009 Share Posted 14 October, 2009 Anyone planning on watching this tonight? 11.00pm kick-off BST. I may watch a stream of it on the internet in the hope of being able to laugh at that little turd Maradonna.
fish fingers Posted 14 October, 2009 Share Posted 14 October, 2009 I shall be watching, obviously hoping for a Uruguay win but also hoping that Ecuador can win in already qualified Chile. Would be great if the Argies don't even get a second chance at getting through. :-)

benjii Posted 14 October, 2009 Author Share Posted 14 October, 2009 Benjii, its on sky sports 1 live if you have it. Thanks for the info, but I don't have it. I've found the quality of certain streaming sites has improved a lot recently and so personlly there's not a lot of sense in subscribing to Sky Sports - I'd just end up watching a load of stuff I'm not really interested in. Obviously it's not the same quality as watching on a nice big tele but I don't think it's £30 per month worse!
Draino76 Posted 14 October, 2009 Share Posted 14 October, 2009 Yeah a quick hour of Fifa 10 then onto this game. Wooot £30 on the Uruguay win.

Revenge & lolage will be oh so sweet please Big Man upstairs, just once, for Shilts, Please I would LOVE to beat them in the world cup (maybe even a cheating goal.) Having said that, I would be too worried if we got them that they would beat us and make me even more bitter towards them.

We need to get revenge against Maradona personally IMO.

benjii Posted 14 October, 2009 Author Share Posted 14 October, 2009 Lol - completely predictable red card. Made funnier by the player sticking his shirt over his head as soon as he committed the foul and rolling around on the floor for a bit. And the Argies score from the free-kick. El Pati Butcherino looks happy.
benjii Posted 15 October, 2009 Author Share Posted 15 October, 2009 Fatty boom boom is crying like a little girl now. The Argies are celebrating like they've won the world cup not scraped through qualification.

NN2 Saint Posted 15 October, 2009 Share Posted 15 October, 2009 His team selection was extremely strange Messi out of position, Tevez on bench, Veron starting. Would definitely fancy England to beat em, I reckon we will get far as long as we stay away from the Spanish

Dog Posted 15 October, 2009 Share Posted 15 October, 2009 Thank god for that. A world cup wouldn't be the same without them, and I recon they will go all the way. Maradona was by far the greatest player in his day and he was my schoolboy hero. My £50 on them to win is looking good. Over! Dog.
Badger Posted 15 October, 2009 Share Posted 15 October, 2009 Disappointing that they have scraped in as you know they will regroup and turn it round in time to be a force in the finals. Anyone see the photo of Dago Maradona on the BBC site ? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/8308103.stm Any similarity with Ken Dodd is purely coincidental. Would definitely fancy England to beat em, I reckon we will get far as long as we stay away from the Spanish That's not a new thing he's made some bizarre decisions ever since he took over. Can't be bothered to list them but 35 year old Palermo starting ahead of Tevez, Millito and Aguero is probably the highlight, maybe Gutierez at right back or there was 36 year old Ortega getting a call up. He's a fruit cake, really hope we get them in the world cup, Capello could pick the u21s and he'd still embarass Maradonnas Argentina.
Hatch Posted 15 October, 2009 Share Posted 15 October, 2009 When I heard he had used 80 players during qualification I thought WTF, but then Capello had 55 players at Wembley last night, although I'm not sure if that was players used or just squad players. Deppo Posted 15 October, 2009 Share Posted 15 October, 2009 I've always had a soft spot for Uruguay since their 1986 World Cup campaign, when their coach told them to hack their way to victory and subsequently went into hiding. They will beat Costa Rica to qualify, no doubt. Oh yeah, Enzo Francescoli was a great player as well.

Seem to remember Strachan getting some particularly harsh treatment. Comically Uruguay had a guy sent off very early in that game but with the tactical anus that is Alex Ferguson in charge for that World Cup, the Sweats couldn't get a goal. When people harp on about what a supposedly great manager Ferguson is, they should remember the 86 World Cup; he was hopeless for the Sweats in that.
