westofshannonsaint Posted 12 October, 2009 Posted 12 October, 2009 hi, would it be possible to include a "thanks" function to the message board? it would cut down on the +1 & I agree with him posts & make the board slightly easier to read, also (hopefully) it would show us the real feeling of a thread, I sometimes agree with the opening posts of alpine/19c/TDD (for example) but do not have anything to add so say nothing and it would also help us determine who we can trust when rumours come up (perhaps we could have a rep or got it right option) also I remember on previous incarnations of Saintschat/webforum/whatever in-between I remember a lot more functionality in advanced post, such as resizing letters (admittedly sometimes annoying) underlying/bolding words, adding pics/youtube vids/attachments/links & things that are useful. I dont know anything about web design, so don't know if ye can do this here, but the main other board I visit (http://www.boards.ie) have thanks and excellent positing functions, and I have seen rep on other messageboards.
westofshannonsaint Posted 12 October, 2009 Author Posted 12 October, 2009 oh, I notice the (url]....[/url] was included for me...

Ponty Posted 12 October, 2009 Posted 12 October, 2009 We don't have that rule up here at the top SS. I can post as fast as i can type.
Baj Posted 12 October, 2009 Posted 12 October, 2009 +1 means agreement, not thanks. Thanks tend to me used for forums where someone is posing a question and looking for an accurate response, where the issue is shared by many other people. In short, no, we wont be adding it.

Can we have a Facebook style 'like' option? Or a similar one which could say something like 'xxxx thinks you're speaking bo1locks as usual' button?
thesaint sfc Posted 15 October, 2009 Posted 15 October, 2009 It's mostly used in porn sites and you know it. Would be handy in the Hardware/Software Issues forum but otherwise fairly pointless on here. They've got it on a lot of computing/technology forums and its amazing how competitive people get to have the highest number of thanks. You get people you've never spoken to before spending hours ripping their computers apart to answer a simple question for you. One particular forum I visit I go on there and ask stupid things, like 'what is Asda Direct's telephone number?' and with that you get about 40 people replying with the answer after a thanks!

Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 18 October, 2009 Posted 18 October, 2009 Where is this 'go advanced' you speak of? Next to the ironing board. You can't miss it.
Pancake Posted 21 October, 2009 Posted 21 October, 2009 You're going to need an Admin to do this as us Mods dont have admin rights.
thesaint sfc Posted 21 October, 2009 Posted 21 October, 2009 ATTENTION MODS:: How do I go about changing my username?? I have tried emailing the email address posted here http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/category/site-news/ but it says no mailbox exists. Can you change my username to shane_saintsfc as I do not own the S13 SFC numberplate anymore? F*ck off! You're just trying to steal my name.
