Did he kick it out of the keepers hands? Looked harsh and would of been ****ed off if it happened against us!!

Couldnt quite see on the highlights, anyone have a better view of it?

Hard to see it properly but it is rare the goalkeeper would not get a free kick if he had both hands on the ball. Of course Southend claimed he did but only one man makes the final deciscion and the ref did consult his linesman before awarding the goal so on that basis I can't think Southend were hard done to.

It was almost impossible to see anything on the highlights - but I don't think the Southend players protested as if Trottman did kick the ball out of his hands. They all looked a bit half-hearted in their protests.

Just seen it on Saints player - defo looks like the keeper had it in his hands. S'end players do protest but no comment from the commentator. weird one, like OP said I would of been ****ed off if it happened against us!!

Ok- then let's count that as one of our "lucky" moments for this season, something we need to remember when the rub of the green is against us later thie season.

Saw it too and came to the opposite conclusion. Trotman flicks the ball into the goal - he doesn't give it a swinging kick. That suggests to me the keeper didn't have it fully under control.

In any case, what a great poacher's goal! You don't see many centre backs nicking goals like that.

We have had so many bad calls this season that even if it was a foul we were due some luck. Their Back could and should have been sent off as could the thug who punched James. I would like to think both will get their come uppance before long.

Their keeper only had one hand on the top of the ball, I was in hospitality bit at that end and saw it quite clearly.

HTH.

cheers thats all i wanted to know...FAIR GAME! ;)

I missed the goal, I turned away with my head in hands in normal missed-chance fashion and then suddenly our end erupted! Then there was all the is it/ isn't it drama. Thank God it was given, sounds like a fair goal, good on Trotman.

It's hard to tell on the highlights but the key for me is the fans behind the goal didn't appeal at all, and the surrounding defenders hardly flinched. Only the keeper protested with any meaning and that was more likely due to embarrassment. Fair goal I'd say, not that I'd care if it wasn't - we deserve a bit of luck.

Southend's defending of the corner was appaling anyway so screw 'em!

We were 2 against 1 following the short corner, the first header was unchallenged and the defenders didn't react at all. Fair play to Trottman (who won me £66 with that goal! :) )

I understand they watched quite a few of our early season videos/games and learnt some bad habits from the old Saints side.:smt033
