SaintRichmond Posted 10 October, 2009 Posted 10 October, 2009 14 points from Sixth spot ..... better than last week BELIEVE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
S-Clarke Posted 10 October, 2009 Posted 10 October, 2009 It's been a pretty good day for us! still just the 1 pt behind wycombe too...and brighton threw away a 2-0 lead at yeovil...
Thedelldays Posted 10 October, 2009 Posted 10 October, 2009 I tell you what. It would be a fantastic feeling if we got promoted this season. Apart from Leeds and charlton, I think we could beat anyone. And we should beat most
John B Posted 10 October, 2009 Posted 10 October, 2009 I tell you what. It would be a fantastic feeling if we got promoted this season. Apart from Leeds and charlton, I think we could beat anyone. And we should beat most I agree but we must start beating the top teams such as MK Dons and Oldham
Toadhall Saint Posted 10 October, 2009 Posted 10 October, 2009 One day at a time me thinks and yesterday coupled with today have been two good ones.
Thedelldays Posted 10 October, 2009 Posted 10 October, 2009 I agree but we must start beating the top teams such as MK Dons and Oldham Yep. For all the jumping for joy at the mo for the unspectacular thing of back to back league wins in league 1 with a multi million pound squad. I am keeping it under wraps fo the mo. As the next two league games will give an indication of the resolve and real quality of the team. If we get say, only a point from the next 2 we can start to forget about promotion IMO
S-Clarke Posted 10 October, 2009 Posted 10 October, 2009 I agree but we must start beating the top teams such as MK Dons and Oldham Agree - although a point at Oldham and a win v MK Dons at home would be a good return for me. Oldham will be a v v hard game, they're flying at the moment....
teamsaint Posted 10 October, 2009 Posted 10 October, 2009 I shall be happier when we are off the bottom. Happier still when out of the bottom 4. Much happier when we get into the top half. And THEN we can start looking at the playoffs. If I was looking now, I would be noticing that the top 5 ALL have promtion form , IE 2 points a game. That really can't last can it?
chrisobee Posted 10 October, 2009 Posted 10 October, 2009 For me this season is all about rebuilding and setting the platform for a promotion next season. I have been a fan of AP since day 1 and though I don't believe every single decision he has made has necessarily been one I agree with there has NEVER been a Saints manager in over 40 years that I have always agreed with ! However, some of the things he has done and is doing especially quality signings have been very impressive. So as optimistic as I always am I do believe a play off place is possible. However, more likely mid table or just above and those 10 points could well cost us a play off place. However, if they do then I'll not be upset as few could argue I believe that they weren't justified after the shambles of the Lowe regime and it was not that long enough I was sat here really concerned we might not have a team.
SET Posted 10 October, 2009 Posted 10 October, 2009 Had a bet with dad that's saints lose no more than 3 league games from now to end of season
shurlock Posted 10 October, 2009 Posted 10 October, 2009 A big few weeks ahead, especially MK Dons and Norwich at home. Wins against them and just maybe....
Glasgow_Saint Posted 10 October, 2009 Posted 10 October, 2009 cant see any reason why we cant/shouldnt win our next 9 games
John B Posted 10 October, 2009 Posted 10 October, 2009 Yep. For all the jumping for joy at the mo for the unspectacular thing of back to back league wins in league 1 with a multi million pound squad. I am keeping it under wraps fo the mo. As the next two league games will give an indication of the resolve and real quality of the team. If we get say, only a point from the next 2 we can start to forget about promotion IMO Precisely If we beat the Lower Teams we dont get relegated and to get to the play offs we have to beat the top teams. We are about 15 points from the play offs at the moment if we are less than 10 points from the play offs at Christmas then anything can happen
SFC Forever Posted 10 October, 2009 Posted 10 October, 2009 Been drinking? If we get 15 points from the next 9 games I will be satisfied that we are still on our way.
The9 Posted 10 October, 2009 Posted 10 October, 2009 Pretty comfortable that we are 1 Leeds U 11 13 27 2 Charlton 12 10 25 ----------- 3 Colchester 12 13 24 4 MK Dons 12 4 23 5 Bristol Rov 11 4 22 6 Norwich 12 6 19 ----------- 7 Swindon 12 -1 19 8 Huddersfld 12 9 18 ABOUT HERE on results so far (no wins against teams above this but we're improving) 9 Oldham 12 -1 17 10 Millwall 12 4 15 AND WOULD BE HERE but for the -10 11 Southend 12 1 14 12 Brentford 12 -3 14 13 Walsall 12 -4 14 14 Hartlepool 12 -2 13 15 Exeter 12 -6 13 AND WE'RE DEFINITELY BETTER THAN THIS LOT even if we don't improve. 16 Gillingham 11 0 12 17 Yeovil 12 -1 12 18 Leyt.Orient 12 -8 12 19 Carlisle 12 -4 11 20 Stockport 11 -4 11 ------------ 21 Brighton 11 -8 10 22 Wycombe 12 -8 7 23 Tranmere 11 -17 7 24 Saints 12 3 5[+10]
Saint_clark Posted 10 October, 2009 Posted 10 October, 2009 cant see any reason why we cant/shouldnt win our next 9 games Because the opposition won't want to lose?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 10 October, 2009 Posted 10 October, 2009 Because the opposition won't want to lose? Oldham (A) Milton Keynes Dons (H) Leyton Orient (A) Brighton (H) Norwich (H) Hartlepool (A) Wycombe (H) Walsall (A) Tranmere (H) Norwich away will be a good test, but our squad is surely the best now in L1? Even if we win 7 of our next 9 we have a good chance of PO
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 10 October, 2009 Posted 10 October, 2009 14 points from Sixth spot ..... better than last week BELIEVE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! F*** THAT lets get out of the bottom 4 first.
Saint_clark Posted 10 October, 2009 Posted 10 October, 2009 Oldham (A) Milton Keynes Dons (H) Leyton Orient (A) Brighton (H) Norwich (H) Hartlepool (A) Wycombe (H) Walsall (A) Tranmere (H) Norwich away will be a good test, but our squad is surely the best now in L1? Even if we win 7 of our next 9 we have a good chance of PO We could easily lose V Oldham, Dons and Norwich. The rest we should be winning to be honest.
gjphilsaint Posted 10 October, 2009 Posted 10 October, 2009 Oldham (A) Milton Keynes Dons (H) Leyton Orient (A) Brighton (H) Norwich (H) Hartlepool (A) Wycombe (H) Walsall (A) Tranmere (H) Norwich away will be a good test, but our squad is surely the best now in L1? Even if we win 7 of our next 9 we have a good chance of PO this set of games will certainly need a squad (need the likes of Connolly & Holmes maybe even saga) to play their part.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 10 October, 2009 Posted 10 October, 2009 this set of games will certainly need a squad (need the likes of Connolly & Holmes maybe even saga) to play their part. at least we have that kind of talent to call on - I doubt if other sides in L1 (or CCC) can call on players like Melis, Connolly, Holmes, Saga, Perry, Thomas, Paterson or Gillet (& we still have Murty to come back)
Roger Posted 10 October, 2009 Posted 10 October, 2009 at least we have that kind of talent to call on - I doubt if other sides in L1 (or CCC) can call on players like Melis, Connolly, Holmes, Saga, Perry, Thomas, Paterson or Gillet (& we still have Murty to come back) I am very optimistic but im sure other clubs in the divisions could find a lot better than gillet, perry and paterson! I think that is going a little bit too far.
SaintRichmond Posted 10 October, 2009 Author Posted 10 October, 2009 F*** THAT lets get out of the bottom 4 first. IMHO, aiming for the TOP is positive thinking IMHO, Aiming to just get out of the bottom four is LIMITING your goals, which is something that the LAST regime were very good at
saint lard Posted 10 October, 2009 Posted 10 October, 2009 Oh FFS,let's just get out of the bottom 4 first. Great, fantastic we maybe on the up but let's just be a tad realistic. Nothing wrong with setting you sights high but for christs sake can we temper it a bit.
