Colinjb Posted 9 October, 2009 Posted 9 October, 2009 Shame, I thought the where doing a top notch job. Coincidence that they sack Barnes after he was quoted on Talksport saying he 'wouldn't walk away!'
rallyboy Posted 9 October, 2009 Posted 9 October, 2009 only heard Barnes yesterday saying how he was quite happy and the chairman hadn't giving him the dreaded vote of confidence. It seems he was even getting booed when they were leading the other day. It must be our storming run that is now bringing a reality check to one or two above, if we could get a point at Southend it could be the last straw for another couple of managers...
Legod Third Coming Posted 9 October, 2009 Posted 9 October, 2009 Let's be honest guys. I am all for giving managers time, but John Barnes?? Really. Where has he ever given the evidence that he can manage?? A joke appointment and joke sacking. In my view, the only players who make good managers are those who had brains when they played.
CB Fry Posted 9 October, 2009 Posted 9 October, 2009 Ridiculous. Football is pathetic these days. Don't be silly. Barnes was an awful appointment from day one. Or do you seriously think if he'd been given three years he'd magic into Alex Ferguson?
Hatch Posted 9 October, 2009 Posted 9 October, 2009 I bet he is glad he gave up his sea front villa in Jamaica for 8 weeks on merseyside.
bungle Posted 9 October, 2009 Posted 9 October, 2009 Don't be silly. Barnes was an awful appointment from day one. Or do you seriously think if he'd been given three years he'd magic into Alex Ferguson? What I do know is that they sold over half their starting XI from last year, brought in a totally new manager, and gave him until the first week of October. That is ridiculous.

That is ridiculous. Even more ridiculous was sacking Ronnie Moore because they lost in the play-offs last season.
oxfordshire_saint Posted 9 October, 2009 Posted 9 October, 2009 Apparently the Tranmere players weren't happy with Barnes rapping his team talks
sperm_john Posted 9 October, 2009 Posted 9 October, 2009 lets face it, he didnt set the world in motion did he???
bungle Posted 9 October, 2009 Posted 9 October, 2009 Even more ridiculous was sacking Ronnie Moore because they lost in the play-offs last season. I'll agree with that!
Legod Third Coming Posted 9 October, 2009 Posted 9 October, 2009 lets face it, he didnt set the world in motion did he??? Priceless!
niceandfriendly Posted 9 October, 2009 Posted 9 October, 2009 Getting fed up with the amount of managers losing their jobs so early into their seasons/careers. Why give Barnes the job if you're not going to give him a fair chance? And Peter Taylor at Wycombe - he got them promoted last season ffs. 11 games in, that's all forgotten about, you're out. I agree with bungle on this one. Football is a joke sometimes.
hackedoff Posted 9 October, 2009 Posted 9 October, 2009 How can they sack him now,we are not due to play them for ages. Long time for them to wait before appointing a new man on the eve of playing us.
