Nineteen Canteen Posted 9 October, 2009 Share Posted 9 October, 2009 Drew's a lovely bloke as well as a talented lad. I would welcome him back. Agreed but I also think he will benefit from a change of scenery and for a young player in the last 3 seasons I think we asked to much of him and one stand out mistake was Pearson asking him to play at left back. Most players leave clubs and the drawbridge is pulled up permanently behind them but for players like Andrew Surman and Wayne Bridge to name just two I would like to think that is not the case and perhaps if nothing else they will return to see out their careers where they started so successfully. Ash Posted 10 October, 2009 Share Posted 10 October, 2009 I will be v surprised if Andrew Surman establishes himself in the Premiership due to lack of strength and lack of pace. Really? I think his lack of strength and pace are one of the main reasons he won't make it as a Premiership player. What are the reasons you think he won't make it? bpsaint Posted 10 October, 2009 Share Posted 10 October, 2009 With the way the team are playing at the moment and watching how Lallana is starting to flourish under AP I wonder how Surman would have fared?
dellgirl Posted 10 October, 2009 Share Posted 10 October, 2009 Totally agree with Weston also heard through a family member of Drews that he was very happy at Wolves ,but I think rather like a stick of rock he will always have Southampton deep inside him . Where ever he ends upI wish him all the luck in the world, he gave his all ,it didn't always achieve the end result but he tried and thats what I like in any player...effort. RedSquirrel Posted 10 October, 2009 Share Posted 10 October, 2009 Either way I think you will find that Andrew Surman was the sacrificial cow. I've heard of sacrificial lamb and sacred cow - I guess this sacrificial cow must be a hybrid of some sort
