Arizona Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 5ft 9? Always thought of him as a threat aerially for some reason, am i going mental Ditto. No idea why. Who could we be subliminally thinking of??? Anyway, going from that scoring record, if he can get fit he will do well. Welcome aboard, I hope to see him tomorrow night in some capacity. Appologies whilst I go on a small ego trip here, but I said at the start of the season we needed at least 10 new players. You all thought I was crazy... :smt066
beatlesaint Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 For this league that is a fantastic signing. Gone for big money in the past, scored everywhere he has played, mainly in Championship and Premier League.....if he stays fit we are really on to something here. Papa on the wing, Lallana in the hole and Lambert and Connolly up front. Awesome
SO16_Saint Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 why's he been out for 18 months - dont recall?
saint_stevo Posted 8 October, 2009 Author Posted 8 October, 2009 Ditto. No idea why. Who could we be subliminally thinking of??? No idea. I am sure it was him....
SO16_Saint Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 Ditto. No idea why. Who could we be subliminally thinking of??? this guy?
S-Clarke Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 For this league that is a fantastic signing. Gone for big money in the past, scored everywhere he has played, mainly in Championship and Premier League.....if he stays fit we are really on to something here. Papa on the wing, Lallana in the hole and Lambert and Connolly up front. Awesome Scored internationally too, against the likes of Mexico...USA...he's; not got a bad CV at all as he? Even more pleased when i think about it. At the end of the day, you don't need to be an amazing player to score regularly in this league....
Arizona Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 this guy? Possibly, although I'm sure I'd remember if Connolly's wedding vegetables we're THAT litteral.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 Maybe you all have him confused with the QPR defender Matthew Connolly who is 6 ft 2 in...
Greenridge Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 Great signing, better than Saganowski IMO... and more importantly, a better attitude. Perfect foil for Lambo. Really? Whilst Saga has made it clear he'd like to play at a higher level I doubt there are many that would question is attitude / effort who have seen him first hand when he has been given a chance. Let's hope Connolly's recent injury record is something of the past. If it is then he could be a terrific signing.
hackedoff Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 Potentially an excellent signing, capable of scoring plenty of goals.Let,s hope the first word of my post is not relevant.
SuperMikey Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 152 goals in 366 appearances, including international appearances. Roughly a goal every other game then. Could be a fantastic signing for us! How would everyone play the team now then, possibly out with the 4-5-1 formation and in with a slightly modified 4-4-2? Unless Connolly is capable of playing on the wing of course.
Saint Fen Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 Great Signing as long as he stays fit. Always been one of those Championship players I rated highly. Scored loads for Wimbledon, West Ham and Leceister. Also Contributed to Sunderland going up.
homesick-saint Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 Connelly in Pullis out Now just a win on Friday to cap a fantastic week
Matthew Le God Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 Kelvin Davis Lloyd James Neal Trotman Radhi Jaidi Dan Harding Papa Waigo Morgan Schneiderlin Dean Hammond Adam Lallana Rickie Lambert David Connolly Should on paper hold its own as a Championship level side let alone League One
MulletMan Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 Damn we got a real good squad for this league!
.comsaint Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 Anyone seen anywhere what squad number he has been given? I think he's just gonna straight-swap shirts with Saga tbf...
derry Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 I want to know where all the ITK's have been for the last 3 weeks? On paper we must have the strongest team in this leage and one that would also compete pretty well in the CCC I think. Given a bit of time to gel and settle in we must surly expect to see a challenge for promotion. At least we can see what the intention is nice and clearly now. Teams of the past few years have looked like the intention has been to improve but played like the intention is to bail out. Its nice to see the whole club turning the screw to actually achieve something. Weston told me on Saturday he had heard he was training with us, he posted it on here.
St Marco Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 Awesome signing for us, a proven prem player when he is not injured. The type of scrappy player we need who will bust a gut to get into the box and onto the end of things. If we can keep him fit then it is a great signing, i'm guessing he will be on the type of contract Murty is. As mentioned above has an almost 1 goal every 2 games ratio.
Colinjb Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 Kelvin Davis Lloyd James Neal Trotman Radhi Jaidi Dan Harding Papa Waigo Morgan Schneiderlin Dean Hammond Adam Lallana Rickie Lambert David ConnollyShould on paper hold its own as a Championship level side let alone League One Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet I would still rather have Murty in as first choice RB though.
saint_stevo Posted 8 October, 2009 Author Posted 8 October, 2009 Damn we got a real good squad for this league! Did you not watch the torquay game?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 song for David Nanananananaa David Connolly
St Marco Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 also our guys in the know have let us down, how did you not find out he had been training for 3 weeks with us! Either we have become slack or our club really is run like a ninja camp these days where lesson number one is to become invisible!
JustMike Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 great signing, have been a fan of his ages. Just hope he stays fit, he will score goals and hopefully click with Ricky
Thedelldays Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 Good signing. Let's hope he gets match fit soon... I really hope we do not put lallana back out wide. He is wasted there
Ludwig Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 also our guys in the know have let us down, how did you not find out he had been training for 3 weeks with us! Either we have become slack or our club really is run like a ninja camp these days where lesson number one is to become invisible! i'm certain I read this on here a while ago.
St Marco Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 (edited) i'm certain I read this on here a while ago. I must of missed that one EDIT: Yes it appears to be true! Pilchards mentioned it a couple weeks ago. http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=16708&highlight=connolly Nice to see our ITK are still alive and kicking Edited 8 October, 2009 by St Marco

Oh yes I will be claiming this one. Throw enough mud and some sticks lol
Thedelldays Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 Just thinking about it we are going to score loads of goals in this league he must have one of the best first 11s in the league.

bigchrisy Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 Through all the critisism some of the morons give Pardew even they have to admit that his signings have been fantastic
krissyboy31 Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 On paper we now have a fantastic team for this level of football. Let's hope we can start proving so on the pitch.
S-Clarke Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 Through all the critisism some of the morons give Pardew even they have to admit that his signings have been fantastic Every single one of his signings have improved us. Even Mellis has now started to prove his quality, and he was the only one the jury was still out on. I think it's a stark realisation of how bad we were last year, when our better players from last season (Gillet/Perry) cannot get into the team now...
wild-saint Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 Think it will have to go to the dubious threads panel for confirmation No need my friend I have finally found the saidd thread mentioned by Pichards. Cue a whole list of bum information that I have delivered to be listed after this post http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=16697
Ponty Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 Great signing, hopefully has still got it. p.s. mods - why has my other account 'Spank_182' been blocked?! No reason has been given!! As multiple accounts are against the forum rules I wouldn't complain too much.
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 I think that is a pretty good signing tbh.
Vershinin Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 Great signing, watch us fly up the league! COYR
RedAndWhite91 Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 Great signing, watch us fly up the league! COYR Well we won't be going down any more places will we!
S-Clarke Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 what was his injuries? Groin and Hip according to some old articles, had to have some opp's.
SaintRobbie Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 What a shrewd little signing IMO. goodbye saga? Yes and yes. Fantastic - a player who wants to prove himself who has experience and is an international. Eat your heart out Lowe.
SaintRobbie Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 Just thinking about it we are going to score loads of goals in this league he must have one of the best first 11s in the league. and getting better. Justs needs time to gel now.
krissyboy31 Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 and getting better. Justs needs time to gel now. Hopefully a little quicker than Burley's team.
SaintRobbie Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 Hopefully a little quicker than Burley's team. Agreed, although I'd settle for a playoff place at the end of the season after a decent run as we had under Burley.
corsacar saint Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 IF he can stay fit, then we must have the best pair of strikers in this league. Mr Liebherr and Mr Cortese are definately going about things in the right way. Well impressed.
S-Clarke Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 http://www.readytogo.net/smb/showthread.php?t=446337 sunderland fans seem very fond of him
Dark Munster Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 Similar type of player to Saga and the same age bracket.... So in other words he's a waste of space?
NickG Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 pretty positive for a thread on ex-player ( post 8 )
