Anyone got any idea when the draw is due to be made? I've had a look all over the FA website, but it's pretty appalling for actually finding anything useful.

I know the games are played the first weekend of November, just trying to plan ahead a bit.

Only a guess but as the 4th qualifying round is 24th October I'd say either on the Sunday after any live game or as it always was in the past lunchtime on the Monday. Of course all days/dates/times now are subject to the law that says if they can be changed to cause maximum inconvenience they will be !

Yeah, the Fourth qualifying round is being played over the weekend of 24/25th October.

In previous years when Sky and the BBC had the TV rights, the draw was made live on Soccer Saturday after 5pm, but I think last year it was live on ITV 1 at Sunday lunchtime.

Here are the round by round dates -

Here are the ties for the third round qualifying ties, to be played this week with the 24 Blue Square Premier teams joining the fray in Monday's fourth qualifying round draw -

Am going to Bishop's Cleeve v Bath City on Saturday. Can't beat a good FA Cup tie!

So might I.Did you go to the Weymouth tie ?

Frightening prospect but we are only two rounds from the possibility of Saints facing Totton,Eastleigh or even Bishops Cleeve.

No, I live in Bath, so will very much be an away fan!

Disappointingly my planned attendance at Paulton Rovers v Newport County has been nixed by a wedding.

Might have to look for a game nearer to Southampton...

Agreed. I remember going to an all non-league 1st round tie between Windsor&Eton and Farnborough a few years ago. The fog began to close in a half-time and 10 minutes into the second half you could barely see 20 yards in front in you and the ref had to abandon the game. On the positive side, I did win 3rd prize in the raffle - a box of choccies if I remember rightly.

I think an away draw against a non-league side could be a great occasion.

I saw Farnborough knock Windsor & Eton out of this years FA cup a couple of weeks ago. I guess I will have to wait until next year now to see Saints at Stag Meadow.

Bromsgrove Rovers v Newport County in Round 1 in 1983-ish was a petrifying experience for someone used to 3rd Division football at the time [and again now :(], though strangely Blackpool v Newport County in 2001 (both games, Ormerod scored a hat-trick in the replay) didn't feel anything like as intimidating.

That's 80s football for you, I guess. That and whether you're supporting the underdogs or not.

Saints away to Chippenham could be quite embarrassing for me, but could be quite good fun as well. Just need the Bluebirds to beat the Skates Reserves in the 3rd Q Round and it could be on.

Adie Mings hosting Saints, never quite sure what his connection was with Saints, but there is one somewhere.

Up the Bridgy!

Paulton v Newport county for me.

Would have tried to get to that had it not been possible for me to get up to Bishop's Cleeve. Will be an interesting game. Paulton have a decent clubhouse.

One of the worse things about being in L1 is not starting off in the 3rd round.

That 1st sat in Jan is always a good weekend for football. Lets hope we can get there!!

How times change.

If we get drawn away to non league side what are the chances that the game will be switched to SMS?

Would be best for everyone if opp ground could only hold 500-1000 fans play at SMS for nominal ticket cost & get 8k-12k

There was a habit a few years ago of non league teams wanting to swap to get the money for the gate reciepts etc but that has now changed with an FA ruling that games can only be switched due to the police not allowing the game at the non leagues ground due to safety reasons.

Knowing us though, we'll be drawn away to Leeds in the 1st round

Disappointed that there is no chance of us playing Garforth Town. Thought by now they would be knocking on the door of league 2 on way to the Prem under Simon Clifford!!

I remember Saints playing Weymouth, Walton & Hersham and Woking in my earlier days of watching Saints in the FA CUP

At one of the ties they played in Light Blue and Dark Blue Quarters (I think) which were the colours of the Hants FA. Can't remember why

Guiseley or bradford park avenue wouldn`t be too far for me!

Or even Elland Road!!!

Fingers crossed we get someone in the midlands... away. Someone small. Nuneaton or Tamworth.

When was the last time we were in the 1st round draw?

Fifty years ago I would have thought

Round 1

Southampton 5-1 Coventry 18-11-1959®

Round 2

Southampton 3-0 Southend 05-12-1959

Round 3

Man City 1-5 Southampton 09-01-1960 One of our Greatest Results in the FA Cup

Round 4

Watford 1-0 Southampton 02-02-1960®

Well done John,I've been wondering about this very thing.

Now is there anyone on the forum who was at those games?

I was at the Coventry, Southend and Watford Home games

The 5-1 win at Div1 (then Prem equivalent) Man City won us the Giant Killers Cup.

Derek Reeves scored 4.

Think I'm right to remember that we drew 2-2 at watford and lost at home in the replay.

I certainly remember Watford had a big old CF by the name of Cliff Holton who gave our defence a hard time.

This was a really disappointing result after the euphoria of Man City and a decent run in League 3 (todays League 1)

Up in Chocco Boxes for these games

And Gary Chalk has the matchball from that game at Maine Rd - probably our best ever FA Cup result.

I think that would be 1959 when we were last in Div 3, unless they've changed the first round / third round FA Cup draw format since then.

Newport lost. :(

The Forest Games in 1963 were pretty special considering we were 3 0 down with 12 or so minutes to go to Win at Spurs with 40000 or Saints Fans was a tremendous occassion.

Saints v Havant would have been 'interesting'

Away V's Havant would be interesting as im sure it would be switched to Nottarf Krap.

Didnt they drew Millwall a few years ago before they drew Liverpool and it was switched to Fratton and then they actually made a loss on the game.

Yep, no one really cared about the Millwall game, they made a lot over the course of the run though.

Totton v Bridgy Town this weekend for me.

Fancy at Totton Vs Southampton tie, and would they be allowed or want to move to SMS.

Won't happen...........but you never know?

I want Woking away, to gain vengeance for their knocking out of Maidstone :) OK ground as well (though my definition of an "OK" ground is significantly different from a lot of people's).
