hamster Posted 7 October, 2009 Share Posted 7 October, 2009 (edited) With the announcement from Jack Warner that FIFA intend to introduce 'Sin Bins' to the game PRIOR to next years World Cup Finals in South Africa, what are people's views on this. In particular; will it benefit the game, will it make it easier for the 'hard men' (as they are not at so much riskof being sent off whilst breaking someone's leg in a crunching tackle) and who will be the first player from our current squad to be 'sin Binned'? I reckon it will be Papa Waigo for throwing his shirt into the crowd after scoring the goal that makes us safe, later this season. chrisobee Posted 8 October, 2009 Share Posted 8 October, 2009 It certainly could be a double edged sword as you suggest and give refs the chance to bottle a tough decision and send a player to the "sin bin" rather than sending him off in the knowledge that any incident will pretty certainly be reviewed after the match. In Rugby League they of course have "sin bins" though players are often placed "on report" usually for a high tackle and no other action taken at the time. It has the merit of keeping 13 v 13 for the vast majority of games but a player might escape any punishment ( or get 10 minutes in the "sin bin" ) in the actual game when he should have been sent off. Deppo Posted 8 October, 2009 Share Posted 8 October, 2009 Jack Warner is a joke. Another corrupt anti-English voice within FIFA. I think to roll out such an idea before the World Cup could cause chaos and potentially spoil the tournament. I can't see it working and don't really see any problem with the current system.
