We know the story after Fitzhugh Fella told it to us. He was part of the deal which was to take Pulis Sr. to SMS. With the change of board this didn't happen, but the agreement needed to be honoured since it was us who changed our mind and appointed Portvliet instead.

Whoa there. Sorry I have been out of the country for some time so missed this thread....

...Pulis snr was going to come to SMS!!!!

What instead of going to the Prem with Stoke????!!!!!

er what happened to Pearson being happy in the job under the previous regime? That said FF has to respected but....

I think the guy is harshly judged by a lot of people on here, he was used a pawn in the politics that used to blight this club.

Having seen him play, he's a very limited footballer, but not a truly awful one. His level is the Blue Square and without his name, he'd be playing there.

I envisage him being farmed out on loan to anyone who will take him until his contract expires, at which point he will end up at a level that suits his talents as there's only so many favours that his Dad can do him.

I know Pulis was spoken to after Burley went and before Pearson was appointed.

Because he was under contract at Stoke who were pushing for promotion both sides agreed to wait until the summer. Dodd and Gorman were then given the job on a temporary basis (presumably until the summer). Any chance of Pulis then coming were reduced by a) Stoke going up and b) the need to appoint Pearson. This I know for fact - Pulis jnr's subsequent arrival is purely my conjecture bearing in mind what I knew about his Dad's intentions to join us. I may well be completely wrong but my theory would explain a very unlikely incoming transfer.

Thanks FF.

The intention was that he was going to come here before Pearson was appointed - i'd read into it that it was when Pearson was leaving. Now makes sense!!

just an interesting thing to point out, on lincoln citys official website (which is similar to ours) it doesnt state that he is on loan to them, where as others on there are!?! it may well be a mistake, however is this pointing to the fact we will offload him to them for free in jan?

I am not trying to say I disbelieve you, but why on earth would Pulis have ever left Stoke for us? It makes no sense, hence why it didn't happen I suppose.

At the time both teams were mid table Championship teams. One we upwards, the other went alarmingly in the other direction.

Pulis has been getting regular games with Lincoln City since joining them on loan. Be interesting to see whether they choose to extend his loan in the next few days, although match reports in the local Echo have not rated his performance too highly..

I actually saw Pulis play the other day - my girlfriend is at Uni in Lincoln and my family's from Torquay, so thought I take a look at their match while I was up there.

I'd describe his performance as solid, League 2 seemed about his level based on that game. Made a few tackles, kept his passing short and simple most of the time. Didn't really do anything wrong. He tried a couple of through balls that didn't quite come off, but I'm fairly sure if I hadn't been actively looking out for him I wouldn't have noticed him at all. Definitely wouldn't have him anywhere near our first team!

The only reason why Pulis came to Saints was part settlement with cash for Andrew Davies. That was Rupert Lowes idea as was Tommy forecast joining from Spurs as part of Bales transfer settlement. On both accounts it would appear Lowe was totally mugged off by agents.

Why would Saints, in a very precarious situation Saints were, want to give the money owed by Spurs and Stoke to the taxman? A far better arrangement was to trash out a Academy training program with the clubs for Forecast and Pullis to offset taxation.

Voted - still 2% - methinks the vote is rigged!!!

No, its just that when there are millions voting it takes a lot of votes to get to 3%. Of course I could be wrong, what was the site again? :)

Any money coming in at that time would have been sucked up by the overdraft with Barclays I'd have thought. I don't imagine the tax man would have got any of it - after all, we were hardly a profitable concern.

The Lincolnshire echo are currently running a poll entitled: "Which current Imps loan player would you like Lincoln to sign permanently?".

We should all pay a visit and vote for Mr Pulis.

On the webpage, there is a video which has an interview with Pulis about 5:30 into the video.

Comes across as a genuine lad

I'm delighted to see that somebody, somewhere rates him. I hope that he'll earn a contract and that everyone will live happily ever after.

Hear, hear. Fair play to him.

Had to laugh at this piece on his Wiki page.

"He has made numerous appearances for the Wales under-21 team, but is yet to represent his country at senior level."

Apparently he has played 4 times for Wales U21's, which I guess against a total senior appearance record of 24 spanning 8 clubs (22 whilst out on loan), qualifies as "numerous."

If any person doubts Pulis achievements in Football they must read this link. If you have seen him play or not, this guy sums up the joke that SFC was , any freebie going would have been turned into Pele under the "Orange order" we signed him with a broken foot FFS

The sooner the dross has f@@@ked off the better

The bottom line of his "all time playing career" gives an insight into his non-progression as a professional footballer:

Portsmouth 01-07-2003 23-12-2004 Trainee

Clearly he got a full all round introduction to the basics!!

He's still a Saints player regardless and hasn't played for the first team and I hope he does well at Lincoln some of the things said on here are unfair on him. I hope he does well and Lincoln sign him up permanently because he's deadwood here sadly.

I completely agree. Best of luck to him.

Incidently, Pulis dislocated his shoulder during Lincolns match on Saturday, popped it back in and carried on, so fair play to him for that.
