And thank fook we played like that tonight and hopefully we'll be back to normal on Friday. Phew, better get back to working on the airmiles then Cherries at home next? Nope they'll be a tough nut to crack
Jez Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 I would dearly love to have heard what AP said at 1/2 time Probably not much, we were all over them in teh first half (from what Sky man said!)
LatvianTolix Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 Phew. Just managed to win relegation threated Torquay. Very dissapointing!!!
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 Can't believe it's only 9.05 and we've just won a penalty shootout. Strange things these 7pm kick-offs.
Charlie2008 Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 Coyr. And a Janner scores the last pen...priceless. Okay, 3-2 it wasn't but a good comeback by a side with confidence. WOOT, WOOT, WOOT...
Micky Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 "Have we got 5 penalty takers....?" Who said that eh...?? Go on - have a word with yourself....! Get in there lads - shyte, crap, poor 1st half - good recovery second - kept bottle during the pens - showed some class I guess. I'm happy.
Dark Munster Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 I would dearly love to have heard what AP said at 1/2 time "Don't miss your penalties."
eurosaint Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 Accidentally flicked off the saints player at 3-2 on pens, can you believe that !! Bloody fool !!
Saint Fan CaM Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 OMG. I swear I will never say a bad word about Wotton again. Says loads that Saga didn't take one tho. COYR & W machine. Lol.
Leicestersaint Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 Well we got through - by the skin of our teeth. Hopefully we will not be so complacent on Friday night.
sussexsaint Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 I am actually happy that we have come from behind to get a result shows a more positive mind set missed Melis , llannna, Jaidi Morgan and I still think we miss Murty
Nexstar Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 Well we got through - by the skin of our teeth. Hopefully we will not be so complacent on Friday night. Will have Jaidi, Trotman and Lallana back.
S-Clarke Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 I am actually happy that we have come from behind to get a result shows a more positive mind set missed Melis , llannna, Jaidi Morgan and I still think we miss Murty We missed Trotman more than any of those IMO
Saint_clark Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 OMG. I swear I will never say a bad word about Wotton again. Says loads that Saga didn't take one tho. COYR & W machine. Lol. Especially considering the players were asked who wanted to take one.
sussexsaint Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 OMG. I swear I will never say a bad word about Wotton again. Says loads that Saga didn't take one tho. COYR & W machine. Lol. THAT is a bloody good point WTF? why didn't Saga take one?
S-Clarke Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 Why can we never do things the easy way ? because we're saints...! we never will. Makes this club different from the rest.
Saint_clark Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 THAT is a bloody good point WTF? why didn't Saga take one? See my last post.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 Now all the "drama" is over; any reports of David Connolly, Simeon Jackson, DJ Campbell, Andreas Weismann or A.N. Other being in the crowd?
sussexsaint Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 We missed Trotman more than any of those IMO Ah yes Sorry missed the most important one - hope we can keep him I really do
Charlie2008 Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 Paul Wotton taking the final penalty, I called it And scores, get in. Yes, you were right and I was wrong. I can live with that.
S-Clarke Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 THAT is a bloody good point WTF? why didn't Saga take one? Because he hasn't got any confidence, he's on his last legs at this club tbh. Says even more that pard's wants to bring in a ''quality striker'' to support lambo n/o saga....
Mr Saints Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 Lesson to be learnt: Never play 4-5-1 at home against a league 2 side
S-Clarke Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 Lesson to be learnt: Never play 4-5-1 at home against a league 2 side i think it was 4-5-1 pushing to more of a 4-3-3 when attacking though still not good enough in the first half though imo.
yorkie Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 Must be our lucky day...it wasn't the sameside as we put out on Saturday and I don't think we can read anything into tonight except this: We lack height at the back without Jaidi and Trotman and Kelvin panics! We can create chances - but can't take advantage from corners We have penalty takers Strange game - I bet the Torquay fans were creaming themselves at HT!
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 Lesson to be learnt: Never play 4-5-1 at home against any side Slight amendment...
eurosaint Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 (edited) Lesson to be learnt: Never play 4-5-1 at home against a league 2 side Or even league 1 for that matter !! Edited 6 October, 2009 by eurosaint Too late !
dubai_phil Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 Lesson to be learnt: Never play 4-5-1 at home against a league 2 side Lesson to be learnt Our reserves (who were are first team last season) aren't good enough to be competitve against the team 90th in the League. AP has hinted at this, maybe it is attitude, maybe it is ability, but we don't have the strength in depth for this season and a lot of work to do stil in January and the summer, and a LOT of deadwood to ship out
westofshannonsaint Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 who do we want in the next round? Leyton Orient 1 - Brighton & Hove Albion 0 (FT) MK Dons 2 - Southend Utd 0 (ft) Exeter 0 - Swindon 1 (L) Gillingham 0 - Norwich 1 (L) Charlton 2 - Barnet 1 (L) Hereford 1 - Aldershot 1 (L) Northampton 1 - Bournemouth 1 (L)
Joesaint Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 Papa after scoring our 1st goal tonight... Great to see, he looks well motivated to do well, something we def lacked last year.
westofshannonsaint Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 Papa after scoring our 1st goal tonight... thanks .com, good to see a bit of fight in a saints player...

Plumstead_Saint Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 Nice one comsaint Great photo of Papa. Keep em comin?
Joesaint Posted 6 October, 2009 Posted 6 October, 2009 thanks .com, good to see a bit of fight in a saints player... When you think about it he is just the sort of player to do well next to Lambert, 1st we can't rely on Lambert and pace off a striker who can hold the ball is great. Also with AL he has the skill do do well off him. (think I just wrote that in a way to make me think we really need Lambert ha ha) I think in time we will be better from corners as the hight in defence and power is good and as and when they gel should be good.
