Loan Striker

I take it from this that Pardew is thinking of playing 5 in midfield with Papa wide right?

He played in that position most of the time against Bristol anyway.

The only positives I can see from this is that it might stop us leaking late goals, I'm just worried it's too much for Lambert to do on his own.

In his piece on the game tomorrow Pardew talks about lack of results from the "second striker"/ If he's tallking about him then there must be one.

I said at the time not to expect miracles from N'Diaye because he is a very run of the mill african footballer, which usually means inconsistent as f**k.

You may note that some top sides have decided against the African Route at

the moment, sure they're electrifying when they concentrate for more than 15 seconds at a time but they often don't.

Haven't bothered to read this whole thread, so someone may have mentioned him - but what about Jay Tabb. Saw an article recently which said that Brendan Rogers was trying to offload him on loan from Reading. Okay, he's not a striker per-se but is one of those tricky attacking players who can unlock defences and create chances. Always remember him causing us all sorts of problems at Brentford in the cup a few years ago.

Not as such, but it would explain why he was "injured", and did not play on Sat ..

Injured for a few weeks I thought.Just the type of signing we used to make.

I expect the new striker will be a small mobile player rather than someone like Vokes who has been suggested on here.Shame as I think a Lamber - Vokes combination would be hard for a defence to control.

Friend of mine who usually gets good info told me on Saturday that the rumour was David Connolly was training with the team.

Have been unable to verify as yet.

He is unattached at present.

I think this name was first mooted a week or so back on here.

Simeon Jackson, David Connelly, Sam Vokes? All would be good. Personally though I'd have have another Bristol Rovers player....let's face it they'll be happy as they win more games when they sell their best players to us and we'll be happy because they tend to have good players. This time round I'd like to quadruple the players wages though - just because we can......

I work with a massive Villa fan

He's adamant that Saints have made an enquiry about Andreas Weimann?? (not sure I've got his name right)

Anyway, it's with regards to a loan deal - has anyone ever heard of him?

A Villa reserve player? Hmm, I think we blotted our copy book with Villa when we took O'Halloran on loan last term then didn't play him. I seem to recall O'Neill was pretty cheesed off. Maybe he will reason it's a new regime, however - new directors, manager etc.

I'm still not excited. Don't see why we should use Villa's reserves rather than our own. If we need another striker on standby, Jamie White has been playing well for us. But I'm not sure we do - Lambo, Papa and Lallana look the part now.

Amen to that. We just got a right winger on loan, which possibly shows that another striker is not priority. Although it could still happen I think that Lambert up top with Lallana and Waigo supporting is working brilliantly - Proven at the weekend against Gillingham.

If we're going to bring in a striker then hopefully it's a BWP type player who can make an impact from the bench.

There's no point breaking up the front four of Mellis, Lallana, Waigo and Lambert. It took Mellis a little while but he's starting to look the part now, hopefully he can get a bit of consistency and convert a couple of chances.

According to todays Daily Mail, Coventry have lost interest in signing Sam Vokes on loan. I wonder why?

Well I had assumed it was because Leon Best (yes that Leon Best) just won Championship player of the month with 5 goals in 6 games for Cov...
