Hammond - 'We'll Put it Right'

Lallana was pretty good, but Hammond got through so much work last night, he was pushing the team forward.

We would have won easily if Holmes had started.

Yeah the only criticism I have of yesterday is if we had 2 left wingers available on the bench, we could have started with one of them, and had Melis on the bench.

It's a player's opinion after the match. For goodness sake.

I don't understand....if people (like you) dislike everything that ever happens at SFC, can't handle the ups and downs and don't rate the team/manager, then why don't you sod off and support another team? Instead of getting worked up all the time and complaining?!

Why are you always so "holier than thou"?

Can other people not express their disappointment at yet another winning position thrown away on forums like this?

I am so glad you are full of passion and dedication to what is yet again another season of struggle.

Every time a poster tries to get it off their chest after a poor result, you come out with the same old "get behind the team" happy clappy b o l l o x and if you don't like it, don't watch retort.

WE as a forum membership have one thing in common...........WE ALL love Saints. Some find it easy to accept defeat and move on, some can't accept defeat and have to use the forum to alleviate their frustrations. Just because we don't have your take on the manner of defeat, for god sake have the good grace to accept that people can post how they feel, whether you like it or not!

I thought that too

It was highly unlikely that he would use both as substitutes

In fact he had little positive to come off the bench unlike Bristol

My thoughts too. Never understood this moral superiority complex some of our fans have.

I got loads of sh*t last season for not going to games, despite living abroad. So I've been to 2 of our home games this season, then suddenly they are not relevant because they were early ones.

Pathetic.

I couldn't disagree more. I am so tired of reading empty rhetoric from players after every bloody defeat. We've been getting fed that tripe for the past 4 seasons, coinciding with our steady decline down the divisions to our current position; clearly these "battlecries" mean sod all.

Unfortunately the new look OS only archives stories going back to the end of last season, but if you were able to go back through the previous seasons you'd find stories like:

Le Saux: "We'll do it for the fans"

John: "We'll bounce back"

Quashie: "Anger at defeat will help us recover"

Euell: "The lads will come back stronger after defeat"

I mean what??!!!!! Pathetic, absolutely pathetic. Sadly this season's OS offerings appear hauntingly similar to the last god knows how many seasons of sh*te. Why don't you all stop patronising us and actually report something factual rather than the usual guff.

Now I'm not picking on Hammond in particular, clearly he's had a good start to his career and was only commenting on the game in the only way he felt he could. But forgive for being a little tired of this empty sentiment; I've just about had enough. Both the OS and the squad should put an end to this sort of story, I'd rather the players said absolutely nothing and concentrated their efforts on actually winning a few games, rather than thinking up some empty platitude that hasn't already been used by a Saints player in the last 4 seasons.

Don't let my anger be confused with my general outlook on the team; Pardew should be given more time, the squad is good enough to move up the league and I’m sure we will eventually turn a corner under this administration. This does not mean I’m going to accept anymore patronising and worthless “battlecries”.

I am in complete agreement. The players should now do their talking on the pitch and leave the battlecries for another day. They are becoming counter-productive.

The OS should give these meaningless interviews a miss and the Echo go and do some research and write something original or even factual for a change.

I agree with you Alpine (even though you got me infracted for using the word ***t which, as David Cameron / OFCOM have proven is appropriate and inoffensive). At the end of the day every fan is entitled to their opinions.

However, I will always base my opinion of those that were there more than those that were not. In my opinion listening is no substitute for watching (either live or tv), worse still are those that comment having followed the match thread / teletext.

I think that's what gets peoples goat up.

Maybe not, but I could certainly use the digits on my hands up counting my obsessive stalkers on here...

Don't flatter yourself...nobody is obsessed with you, or stalking you.....the fact of the matter is you are a pain in the a4se and you only come on here and comment when you have something to complain about. When we win a game, you barely say a word on here. When we lose, you're b1tching and whining and moaning and blaming the manager or the players, or complaining about something or other. It's boring, it's tedious, and you're just far too negative - you seem to have no enjoyment supporting the Saints, yet you feel compelled to discuss them (or rather moan about them) on a regular basis.

Worst still, someone tells you you're being negative and over the top, and you start insulting them.

Why do YOU get into more arguments with people on here than anyone else?! Funny that. It's not everybody else who has the problem. It's YOU!!

HTH.

Well said my point too.

I would really be interested what they were trying to do in training

Sometimes I think people slag Alpine simply because they don't like his message.

Yes he is negative but that does not make him right or wrong, just as you chose to be positive which neither makes you right or wrong.

Negative people get irked by happy clappy posts and vice versa, The very least we can do is just debate our corner without trying to A) convert (never gonna happen), B) preach (boring) or C) insult (everyone is entitled to have their say without being vilified).

Alpine has irritated me in the past but the guy is consistent, has been on here for years, makes the effort to attend matches even though he lives abroad and obviously cares.

Argue with him by all means but cut out the insults would be my advice. He is prepared to defend his corner with reason.

You seem to be getting into helluva lot more arguments than me at the moment.

As for the insulting, its all a one-way street as far as I am concerned. You've been throwing your toys out the pram on quite a regular interval recently, it seems.

If you cannot handle DEBATE and OPPOSING VIEWS (euphemsitically described as "negativity" by you), then dont come here.

Alpine in "I'm never in the wrong" shocker.

I have lost count of the amount of times you've wound people up and had arguments with people on here over the years. A ridiculous amount. I used to read and read and never post when you were banging on about anything you wanted to moan about - but it's about time someone told you what a bore you are.

"Throwing toys out of the pram"....you like that one don't you. A very common thing for you to throw at people - not just me either. I've "thrown my toys out of the pram" when you're involved because you're getting beyond the joke. By all means, if someone has a gripe about something, coming on here to discuss it is perfectly acceptable - that's what the forum is all about. But YOU - you just complain about everything. You don't contribute anything to this forum other than when you think there is something to complain about. I wish there were some statistics to show how many posts you make after a win, and how many posts you make after a loss. I wouldn't be far off the mark if I said you'd make 20 posts when we lose to every 1 post when we win.

Likewise, if you can't handle your team losing, go and support Manchester United or Chelsea. You obviously aren't mentally stable enough to support a struggling team.

But Will - I know you love the Saints but you got to accept while you can see they do no wrong others choose to differ.

Blind faith support for Saints is great, but this is a forum and the vews on here will not make or break anything.

Just because Alpine happens to voice views that makes you twitch in your underpants because they don't fit in to your perceived "must support Saints at any cost" views is not a reason for you to throw insults.

We all want what is best for Saints but we all have different ways of expressing it.

Some are cynical or negative (Alpine) some are happy clappy (you and NickG) but neither has the right to dictate to the other how they chose to "support" or "comment" on the team.

To say as you did "if you can't handle your team losing go and support Chelsea etc" is a patronising, I'm a better supporter because I praise and not criticise vewpoint that is - if you don't mind me saying - out of place.

Why does the **** golfer get all up tight all the time

That's right, I'm ****. I'll be crying about that on my flight to California next week while you're sat at home being miserable.

Then when I come back and fly to Italy, I'll be upset at your perception of my golf again then too.

While I'm travelling the world playing tournaments, making money, I'll still look back and be very upset at you calling me ****. Think about me from your office.
