Sour Mash Posted 30 September, 2009 Posted 30 September, 2009 Don't think anyone can really argue too much with what he's said, fairly sensible and honest I think.
Chez Posted 30 September, 2009 Posted 30 September, 2009 lets see how they respond. They played opretty well last night for 70 minutes. Can they replicate that for 96 and show that that defeat was a blip on this very steady improvement we have seen so far.
Legod Third Coming Posted 30 September, 2009 Posted 30 September, 2009 Both he and Hammond are 100% accurate from my seat. If anything I think they're both being a bit harsh on us. If people finish, we win 4-2 or more likely 4-1... What we need is summed up elsewhere as confidence and composure. Both of which we have to build.
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 30 September, 2009 Posted 30 September, 2009 More honest would have been : 'We have some very talented players but unfortunately they are chokers and losers. They need to grow some ******** and start delivering some results or I'll get sacked.'
St Will Posted 30 September, 2009 Posted 30 September, 2009 More honest would have been : 'We have some very talented players but unfortunately they are chokers and losers. They need to grow some ******** and start delivering some results or I'll get sacked.'
St Marco Posted 30 September, 2009 Posted 30 September, 2009 Not quite sure what the OP means as it sounds very different from his other reports. For 65 mins we were amazing. They then got nervous and we no longer played like a team. That is what happend. I don't think he is trying to pull the wool over your eyes or say things that were not there ala Burley,Wotte style etc.. He could not really say anything other then he has.

They need to grow some ******** and start delivering some results or I'll get sacked.' While I did laugh, this is pretty much accurate. They do need the confidence and composure that is the difference between a winning mentality and losing one. I bet in talent terms there's precious little in this league, if anything.

You're right there - if you have a settled, confident hard-working team, then you can do good things in the lower leagues. Burnley are a good example, they don't have any ''stand out'' players, quite alot of journeymen and oldheads...but the most important thing was that they were a team and have an excellent captain in alexander. As odd as it sounds, in our team we probably had more technical ability - but as you say, it really means sod all outside the prem.
a1ex2001 Posted 30 September, 2009 Posted 30 September, 2009 Shame he missed the paragraph where he says he was shocked by his own performance in the dugout and won't make the mistake of utilising Wotton ever again and will stop his petty hate campaign aginst Holmes and Gillett and give them both a fair chance?
sperm_john Posted 30 September, 2009 Posted 30 September, 2009 ive got a new theory, every time southampton play im going to bet on the opposition, that way if we win im happy, if we lose, atleast il get some money out of it ..i think if id of put twenty pound on us to lose the game for the last couple of seasons id be rich !!! and i dont mind paying twenty pound for saints to win!
derry Posted 30 September, 2009 Posted 30 September, 2009 Pardew needs to start making the right decisions, playing a proper team with width, stop making crass substitutions. Instead telling us how bad we were, how we had no width. Talking about it in retrospect we all do, he is paid well to identify and sort the problems. Negativity undermines and we have far too much of it in the make up of the team and the way we play.
