Chez Posted 29 September, 2009 Posted 29 September, 2009 a very poor guess would be that away fans don't tend to come on mass so there is no reason to start so late (7.45 is too late IMO anyway) thereby attracting more home fans and their kids.

It depends upon how late people work and how far they travel. I can't make evening games at all now but when I could because of work and distance travelled, I struggled to get there for 7.45 kick-off.
Give it to Ron Posted 29 September, 2009 Posted 29 September, 2009 I have just bought 4 tickets this morning 2 st holders (adult&child) 1 OAP, 1 Junior cost me the extortionate sum of £12:50 for all!! As that numpty on the Aviva advert says BARGAIN. Only the Itchen is open for this game.

ringwood Posted 29 September, 2009 Posted 29 September, 2009 The 7.45 kick off is perfect for me, leave work, travel in opposite direction collect kids, then up to ST Mary's stopping off to grab some food. Not everyone lives in Southampton, however for cup games I don't see it as an issue, however league games for which many season tickets travel quite a distance then 7.45 or 8.00 makes it possible.
Give it to Ron Posted 29 September, 2009 Posted 29 September, 2009 The Northam is open too. Apologies I thought he said only the Itchen as I couldnt get my seat in the Kingsland North.
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 29 September, 2009 Posted 29 September, 2009 It's an attempt to get more kids through the gate. Correct. Confirmed by the TO this morning.
Chez Posted 29 September, 2009 Posted 29 September, 2009 makes a lot of sense. Since they changed kick off times from 7.30 to 7.45 in league games, half time has increased by five minutes and so has the additional time added at the end. Add to this the unbelievable length of time it takes to get out of the stadium (it must be a safet hazard if you ask me), get over the bridge and then out of town and before you know it it is getting late by the time you get home.
