Redbul Posted 28 September, 2009 Share Posted 28 September, 2009 Which will be okay as long as Orange don't restrict you to Orange Maps and let you see proper internet content instead of mobile content like they do with the LG Arena.

SO16_Saint Posted 29 September, 2009 Author Share Posted 29 September, 2009 Orange coverage is dog-log. The merger between T-Mobile and Orange in the UK might well have tipped the balance in Orange's favour, something Orange CEO Tom Alexander alluded to in a recent interview: 'We’ve (Orange) already got the biggest 3G network , now with T-Mobile we’ve got an even stronger 3G network,' he said. 'We’ve got a fantastic platform and are obviously the network of choice for all multimedia devices, including potentially, the iPhone in future.' Any reason for hating O2 with a passion?? They are a mobile phone company just like the others. They have awful customer service and their telephone call centre is pants. They have also charged me over £500 for calls which were made aparenty from my sim card, despite the fact that they were made from a phone i dont own, and from Scotland, and i live in Southampton and were in meetings at the time of the calls - with my phone and sim. They wouldn't waive the call charge and i'm repying the money still now...

Been with Orange for 3 years and I can't get reception anywhere! The merger with T Mobile should help though. Maybe I'lll wait and see how it is before changing. I've always had signal for calls and internet (not sure if it's 3G - just their normal internet pages).

gonzo Posted 29 September, 2009 Share Posted 29 September, 2009 The iphone has one big weakness - the fact the only web browser for it is the in-built safari browser. Safari is fine if you're in a 3G or HSDPA area. If you're not, it is very slow indeed. If Apple opened things up a bit and allowed the iphone to install Opera Mini (it's not like the iphone wouldn't be capable of it), then it would be an amazing handset to own. However, the 3G networks in the UK just aren't strong enough. Orange's network coverage is rubbish, as I have found signing up to a 24 month contract with them in May. I'm really hoping the merger with T-Mobile improves matters.
