St Marco Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 Big game for us. Win and we really have turned the corner taking 7 points from last 9 on offer and taking 9 from 15 in the whole month of september. Which would have us 3rd in the table for that month. Lose and it would be 6 from 15 in that month. Which would have us 9th. So while it marks only our 10th game it must now be said after this game that the season is no longer "new". The team has had time with the manager and should all be familliar with one another. Bristol are a good team. 3rd in the table and joint top with Leeds on recent form. They have scored 14 goals and let in just 7. A well oiled group who are doing very well. It will be a tough game. If we assume that players are now fit i would go for --------------Davis------------ James---Jaidi---Trottman----Harding Lallana---Hammond---Morgan---Holmes ---------Waigo------Lambert----------- I think it will be a close game and a draw 1-1. I would take that.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 (edited) I would definitly start with Holmes! Looked good when he came on Saturday and his balls into the box are desperately needed. Hope AP is working on corners this week as we had 15+ saturday a didnt look likely to score from any. Waigo maybe better used as a winger? Only seen him the once but he looked somewhat clumpsy and his 1st touch is needing work - however he has pace and could be an asset sprinting down the wings? I would maybe look to play Lallana in CM - he is too slow for the wing but does have a decent bit of skill and can pass the ball effectively (when he keeps it simple) I would give him simple instructions - 1. get the ball out to the wide men 2. Keep it simple (dont be too fancy) 3. attack the 18 yard box when we have the ball out wide. Edited 28 September, 2009 by Glasgow_Saint
Thedelldays Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 I will be going as currently in fareham So will give an opinion and it will be valid HTH

oxfordshire_saint Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 Gonna be a difficult game, they're a solid team with some dangerous players, plus they'll be pumped up to get one over Ricky Lambert. Let's hope he's equally motivated to put one over on his old pals! This game really will give us a good indication of where we're at.
chocco boxo Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 2-2 I think....we just need to cheer the team on, no moaning and groaning when we do our usual sloppy defending or waste a corner. Just keep cheering and hopefully we will wipe out the - points. I would love us to win this one well. COYR.
chocco boxo Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 Will Lambert run the length of the pitch and celebrate in front of the Rovers fans?
saint_stevo Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 1-1 Can people not classified disabled sit in the disabled section?
mickyp Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 massive game and i just reckon lambo will have a poin to prove and hope he does not try to hard reckon 2-1 to us
badgerx16 Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 2-1 Saints, positive points at last, and 2 more than p00pey.
hoozonside10 Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 Well Bart won't be in the squad as he has gone to Barnsley on a months loan, thought I'd mention it as I hadn't seen it anywhere else
rick1976.4.38 Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 play 4-4-2 hopefuly and win.feeling positive,i think we will win 2-1,coyr

John D Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 I'm going but will be running late due to meeting in London that finishes at 6pm! What do people reckon is quicker. Train to Parkway and taxi from airport to ground or stay on train and get taxi from Southampton central?
John D Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 http://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10309~1810835,00.html Although that is a picture of Kelvin next to the article!!
krissyboy31 Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 Although that is a picture of Kelvin next to the article!! Shhh!! They probably think that's who they're getting.

slickmick Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 Got a bad felling about this one. The corner will not be turned just yet. Its going to be a struggle to stay up this year.
Castro 1 Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 Slightly off the topic, but I have just brought a ticket for tomorrows game (and Saturday) in Block 39. Chap on the phone said that the Nothern/Kingsland corner is now open. So far I am the only person there so I will give you all a wave!

Train to Parkway and taxi from airport to ground or stay on train and get taxi from Southampton central? Definitely quicker going to central, but if your meeting doesn't finish until 6, you'll probably miss the start of the match, think last train from London to make kick off is the 6.05.
Sour Mash Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 Anyone know how many tickets have been sold for tomorrow? Have Rovers sold out?
RedAndWhite91 Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 Although that is a picture of Kelvin next to the article!! That's even more amateurish than the Daily Echo!!

Thanks. I know I'm going to miss some - just a case of how much!
RedAndWhite91 Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 I reckon it's going to be a really difficult game for us and I honestly can't see us getting 3 points. Mind you, we always do seem to step up and play better against the better teams in the league and Rovers are just that. I'd like to see Waigo and Holmes both start, and hopefully there will be a big crowd there to get behind the team. No negativity please, it doesn't help the team in any way.
Carlos Fandango Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 Anyone know how many tickets have been sold for tomorrow? Have Rovers sold out? I went to get my ticket this morning and the Itchen was sold out up to block 9. If they are starting to sell the corners then it could be a decent crowd, Brizzle should bring a fair few
The Saturday Boy Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 Anyone know how many tickets have been sold for tomorrow? Have Rovers sold out? Rovers have sold their 2,200 allocation and can buy tickets on the night - http://www.bristolrovers.co.uk/page/LatestNews/0,,10328~1810364,00.html
RedAndWhite91 Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 Good news on the ticket front, should be a good atmosphere.
sussexsaint Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 I so want us to win, mainly , well to win obviously agaist decent opposition and I can see no reason why we wouldn't with the decent looking squad we have but also so we can have 1 point on the board before Pompey

Legod Third Coming Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 I will be going as currently in fareham So will give an opinion and it will be valid HTH Top draw post. You really should stop taking personally questions about your commitment and ability to comment from the U-boat...
Legod Third Coming Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 This is a must win game for me. If we are remotely serious about growth, development and promotion (next year, this year, ever!) we have to start winning games regularly to know how to win games regularly...

Ah the 10th "Must Win" game of the season...
Castro 1 Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 When was it closed? Blocks 38 + 39 have been closed all season:confused:, had that black barrier stuff all over them.
eurosaint Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 Ah the 10th "Must Win" game of the season... We are now pretty settled and are playing at home therefore it is one that I would expect us to win, even if only by a narrow margin ! 'Must win', 'six pointer' etc, etc.. is just a way of saying that the time has come for us to stand up and be counted in this league ! If we draw or lose it's not the end of the world, but it will surely hinder our development in the short term at least ! 1 - 0 Saints (Lambert)
Saint Fan CaM Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 I don't have a great feeling about this game TBH and so am expecting us to lose. Having said that, we've not lost at home so far so perhaps we can take that into the game as a positive. It will be tough for sure - BR know what this league is about and will come to SMS to spoil our game. I just hope we start with an real attacking side that sticks it up 'em from the 1st whistle. Head says 0-1 ... heart says 2-1 Saints.
Legod Third Coming Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 Ah the 10th "Must Win" game of the season... Correct. I believe that Alex Ferguson takes this approach to all matches and it doesn't seem to be hurting their results very much...
alki_in_korea Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 Best win my old house mate chichestergas is going. not even korea can hide my shame losing to them.i saw kidderminster last game 2003 n nearly went out football league. WE CAN'T LOSE FOR THE LOVE OF LE GOD WE CANT LOSE

S-Clarke Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 I'm really looking forward to this game, evening KO, good side, good crowd (sounds like it will be) - will make for a good atmosphere. Heard on solent and others have said the same, Thomas is back in training and could be available for selection tomorrow which is great news IMO - we missed his physical dominance on Saturday. Lambo will want to get one over on his old team, it always happens...ex players always score against their former clubs, i just hope we don't offer an exception to the rule, as we do to so many other rules! Two decent teams at this level though, you have to say. It'll be our toughest home game since Millwall IMO - and i think we've come on great strides since then. We're more than a match for them.
The Godfather Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 Should be a reasonable crowd again, Rovers have soldout their initial 2200 allocation.
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 I'm hoping we should see this lot off. Hopefully another 2-0.
SNSUN Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 I'm looking to go as for a change I'm not working. This is reliant on permission given by the missus, as she owns me and I'm her *****. I love relationships. :-D Saints 2-0. Bristol Rovers are in good form but I can see Lambert seeking a goal or two.
slickmick Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 Should be a reasonable crowd again, Rovers have soldout their initial 2200 allocation. Like a cup final for those poor peasants. Big game for them but just another minnow team for us.

Big Ron fan Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 If they are 3rd in the table, it looks like Bristol Rovers are doing better without Lambert than they were with him. Any reason for this? There has been a lot of comment about his lacking pace. Do they have more pace and mobility without him, which means there is more than ample compensation for losing their £1m 'goal machine'. Anyone ITK on this matter?
