Stepgar Posted 16 October, 2009 Share Posted 16 October, 2009 Sign and loan him back to Eastleigh for the rest of the season nothing better than first team competitive action. Then join up at the end of the season. Or sign and now and loan him back til jan.
Jack the Saint Posted 16 October, 2009 Share Posted 16 October, 2009 He was offered a 2 year contract by Saints today, he just has to discuss personal terms now.
joffystevens Posted 16 October, 2009 Share Posted 16 October, 2009 i know nothing about the lad, is he a good enough player to be moving up the leagues with us??

Sounds like a no-brainer then. 50 quid and all the pasties you can eat at Eastleigh or a decent wage and opportunity at SMS.
saint_bert Posted 16 October, 2009 Share Posted 16 October, 2009 Actually you are correct. Its not Moulineux. As much as I detest Everton I don't think they have fallen out the league yet. Thanks for your greatly apreciated wit! The reason I said LM was because I thought he was training with a non-league club before he joined us. I was under the impression Everton had released him some time before we signed him

He may be weighing up giving up a solid job (which I can only guess he would have) and semi pro football for a seriously risky yet potentially rewarding pro footballers contract. In an ideal world it's obvious what you would go for, but in the cold light of day.....
Master Bates Posted 20 October, 2009 Share Posted 20 October, 2009 (edited) Aaron Martin to join Eastleigh on loan once we sign him - The Echo Edited 20 October, 2009 by Master Bates
Professor Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 The Echo is now saying the deal is done. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/ Really do wish him well. Having one or two local players in the team is important to the fans and although it may be a time before he makes the first team, Pardew would not be signing him for a career in the reserves. How good he can become, we shall have to wait and see but he is already said to be a very good player and with full time training and professional coaching he can only improve further. Master Bates Posted 2 November, 2009 Share Posted 2 November, 2009 To sign today for a 5 figure sum plus a sell on clause according to the Echo.
isplumm Posted 2 November, 2009 Share Posted 2 November, 2009 Hi, I was chatting to him & his father on Saturday, while watching Eastleigh. He was disappointed not to be playing for Eastleigh ... but I think they were worried about him getting injured. Told me that he was due to sign Monday (today) + play against Torquay for the reserves today. He MAY come back on loan to Eastleigh for a month, but is not sure. Came across as a nice lad, who is thrilled to be playing for Saints. Mark
LeBenali Posted 2 November, 2009 Share Posted 2 November, 2009 Are there any rules regarding the closure of the transfer window? Or does it not count if signing a player from the non-league?
Master Bates Posted 2 November, 2009 Share Posted 2 November, 2009 Are there any rules regarding the closure of the transfer window? Or does it not count if signing a player from the non-league? I was asking myself the same question then thought as they were non-league then we're probably allowed. who knows? f**k knows? I don't think so. The reason I said LM was because I thought he was training with a non-league club before he joined us. I was under the impression Everton had released him some time before we signed him Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't, but if we're including out of contract players as "non-league" no matter where they're training, then the answer is David Connolly anyway. I don't think so. There's no transfer window in non-League - and even if there was there's not much difficulty or financial peril in mutually cancelling a semi-pro contract to allow a player to go if the club has said they won't stand in his way - out if contract players can be signed at any time, as we showed with Connolly.
