Or start a thread on a forum somewhere about speeding http://www.pepipoo.com/FAQ.htm Now anything on the football from anyone? I thought Harding & 2 CBs were quality - impressed me. Harding looks very good and with a good LM in front of him could prove a real find. 2 CBs excel in no nonsense - just what we have needed. Just need to add some pace to the wings and some creativity to the centre of midfield and I think we have a very good team.

Atticus Finch of Maycomb Posted 28 September, 2009 Share Posted 28 September, 2009 I cant believe that Hamster, View From The Top, St Will and others on here are seriously condoning dangerous driving have any one of the three posters listed every lost anyone, or themselves been hurt as the result of an accident? I assume not, or this conversation would not be taking place.

ooohTerryHurlock Posted 28 September, 2009 Share Posted 28 September, 2009 I hope that the administrators of this board are going to do the following: 1. Make a statement regarding their opinion of speeding on the UK road system. 2. Pass on the names of those who have admitted speeding to the police so action can be taken against these law breakers. Some people don't seem to see a problem of going 100, 110, 120mph on the motorway and then coming on here telling people. Well, in my opinion this is exactly the same as someone coming on here admitting they mugged someone or r*ped someone. The law is the law. Hardly! ooohTerryHurlock Posted 28 September, 2009 Share Posted 28 September, 2009 Sums it up for me if only we took a chance and played two up front we would have walked away with the three points. Wiltshire Saint Posted 28 September, 2009 Share Posted 28 September, 2009 Why would it be me? I have already stated that I don't like driving at speed myself - or are you conveniently overlooking that post? By the way, perhaps you would like to let us know if you have ever had an SP30 on your licence, or if you have ever broken a 30mph speed limit and gotten away with it? I suspect that if you have a driving licence then the answer to that will almost definitely be "Yes" - in which case you are hoisted by your own petard. Nope, sorry, I have a completely clean licence and always have done. How can you ask the question and then claim I am "hoisted by your own petard" before you hear the answer. I don't think you should be so quick to judge, particularly when you don't have the facts. Anyway, let's not get all caught up in a thread about speeding when we could be discussing saints. You have admitted you were wrong and I'm happy to leave it there.
ooohTerryHurlock Posted 28 September, 2009 Share Posted 28 September, 2009 (edited) 100 mph is against the law and potenially dangerous. Prats like you who condone that sort of irresposible behavior and brag about should be banned from driving Yeah right!!!! I was a recent driver awareness course - after getting done on a camera for doing 36 in a thirty - the course was good but basically taught you to observe the 30 and 40 in built up areas - they did n't really seem to much concerned about high speeds when people are travelling in the same direction. It was more about country roads and single lane traffic. kids who have just passed their tests and have zip all experience but to be honest the driver has over 25 years experience drives in a new car with a good braking system and does circa 30000miles a year. The conditions on saturday were absolutely perfect with fantastic visability so can't really see what the problem is. I do 40000 motorway miles a year - and the problem lies with people who are totally unable to understand how the motorway works - people should drive on the inside land and not dwaddle along in the middle lane at sixty!! The speed limits on motorways were set back int he sixtys when people used to live in the dark ages technology has moved on and so has people's abilities. ooohTerryHurlock Posted 28 September, 2009 Share Posted 28 September, 2009 (edited) Speed kills when used at the wrong time in the wrong place ,or in the wrong conditions. Obviously driver skill comes into this equation. I am a retired police driver,so have been trained in advanced driving,so I think I can comment. It is very rarely a good idea to drive at these sort of speeds on a busy motorway,as other traffic is unaware of the speed of approaching cars from behind. Only if you have been trained to do so safely, then you are relatively safe to do so. IMO The motorway was n't busy at nine o'clock on saturday....... my friend has done the police course (he is a customs officer) and said the message was it is ok to drive fast as long as you do it safely. We did it safely, the conditions where good and it is an environmentally and mechanically advanced vehicle. hughieslastminutegoal Posted 29 September, 2009 Share Posted 29 September, 2009 Or you get people pulling halfway into the next lane before they even look or indicate.....so busy daydreaming, it doesn't occur to them to look in their mirrors. The amount of dangerous driving I see up and down the M1 is ridiculous, and as I drive past the culprit, I look in, and they're always away with the fairies or chatting - completely oblivious. And all crawling at 70. Or you are driving legitimately up to the speed limit, try to overtake someone, only to have to swerve back in because some complete t*sser has used a high-sided vehicle to hide behind when changing lanes so he can do 100. kpturner Posted 29 September, 2009 Share Posted 29 September, 2009 Nope, sorry, I have a completely clean licence and always have done. That just means you have never been caught. If you are trying to say that you have never broken a 30mph speed limit (even unwittingly) then I am afraid your credibility is zero IMHO.

All this wanting to get where you are going by yesterday is sheer madness, if you are driving a journey of 400 miles or 20-30k a year, you owe it to yourself to enjoy the journey. Stick Classic FM on and relax, you'll still get there. An alternative might be to leave a bit earlier perhaps? How fast is it acceptible nay safe to drive TO the match then? We got home to Herts at a similar pace and also had a curry. If my driver had gone slowly we too would have either had to gone hungry or used a service station. Well worth keeping your foot down, using a bit of extra fuel and rounding off an away day with a traditional curry. I am not revealing my driver that day but those of you who know who I am will be able to work it out for themselves..
