I disagree with Shurlock on the chance, it was a sitter that I'd expect to be tucked away.

The nipper made the mistake of going near post instead of across the keeper IMHO.

I thought that Lallana was MOTM. His 1st touch and ability to turn away from challenges at the same time constantly gave him space. Unfortunately, with no midfielders breaking beyond him he often had the space to play a killer pass but no one ahead of him.

I also thought he should have scored 1st half when put through but I may be doing him an injustice regarding the angle considering the angle we were watching from.

AP has an interesting problem I agree, does he play 2 up top and AL behind in the hole or just Lambert up and AL off him?

Either way AL, yesterday, was the best player on the park IMHO.

You weren't in a silver 5 series BMW were you?

One, with 4 saints in, went past me around the A6 Snap junction like a rocket, and I don't drive slowly myself!

I also thought the pompey stickers in the urinal trough was a nice touch. Always nice to ****** on them.

Would have been 922 if you had made it to the game of course. Far to many cliches in that detailed match report to suggest you were ar the game. Where do you live btw, Kendal?

Anything else to add Mr 19C

No, one of those hybrid thingies from Toyota - the m6 toll road makes a big difference, and zero hold-ups anywhere else. That late goal made our injun taste good :-)

Brunton Park to the Noorani, Fair Oak, in 3 hours 53 minutes. Anyone beat that?

Google maps says it should take 5 hours 27 minutes! You must have been doing 110-120 all the way.....I did 100 all the way from Leeds to Reading the other week and it took me 2 hours 55 minutes!

You can't have done mate. I live in Surrey and have regularly done Leeds to home in 3hrs. I have done home to Scarborough in 3hrs 15 mins. 266 miles via the M25, M1, M18, A614.

I rarely do over 100.

I do it probably twice a month mate.....I did it on a Saturday morning, and did 100 all the way down the M1 to Northampton, did 100 all down the A43 (avoiding the speed cameras - so I did slow down a couple of times for that), the 100 down the A34 and M4).

I've done it in 2 hrs 45 on a quiet Sunday morning too.

Edit: Sorry, I get what you're saying now.....obviously you slow down when you come up behind other cars, and there's those roadworks near Nottingham now. But when I had a free bit of road I was doing 100

You're probably being punished badly by those 50mph zones with the old average cameras - worse than you realise. You know they can't track you across lanes, don't you. ;)

yeah near nottingham....it's a buggar....20 miles of 50mph zones.

I've heard they can't track you cross lanes, but I spoke to someone who helped design them and apparently that's not true

They're not allowed to tell the truth are they... ;)

Personally, I look out for a very high-sided vehicle and slip in alongside.

Of course, this is fraught with problems if you can't find one!!

Yeah I've learnt that one too.

To be fair, I put it on cruise control at about 55....that way I'm making progress through the traffic, and I don't seem to be getting tickets!

I think it's funny how thick some people are....they slow down for the cameras then speed up to 80 in between them. "Average" obviously doesn't register with some people!

I hope that the administrators of this board are going to do the following:

1. Make a statement regarding their opinion of speeding on the UK road system.

2. Pass on the names of those who have admitted speeding to the police so action can be taken against these law breakers.

Some people don't seem to see a problem of going 100, 110, 120mph on the motorway and then coming on here telling people. Well, in my opinion this is exactly the same as someone coming on here admitting they mugged someone or r*ped someone. The law is the law.

I am a lot safer going 100 then those who crawl along. I'm concentrating on the road, whereas those crawling along at the speed limit are chatting away, not always looking at the road, playing with their radio, generally daydreaming. I do at least 20,000 motorway miles a year, and the old people dawdling are much more dangerous than those who drive too fast.

Oh, and I'm not a boy racer, I don't get right up behind other cars, I don't undertake or flash people out the way. But when the outside lane is clear, I bomb on.

Agreed, especially when you're trying to get on a motorway at speed and you have to slow down and change gear because someone is crawling along the entrance.

Or you get people pulling halfway into the next lane before they even look or indicate.....so busy daydreaming, it doesn't occur to them to look in their mirrors.

The amount of dangerous driving I see up and down the M1 is ridiculous, and as I drive past the culprit, I look in, and they're always away with the fairies or chatting - completely oblivious. And all crawling at 70.

Yes, most of the time the speedo was showing three figures, but we averaged 85mph. The driver was like a man possessed. Had a bet that he could do it in under 4 hours. We had to have exact change so we could whizz through the toll booth by chucking the money in the basket. Not the most relaxing of journeys, which is why I watched a film or two on my iPhone

I would have thrown up looking at my phone all the way down :-) and my iPhone battery would never have lasted that long either!! Bloody thing!

The M6 is the same. How often do I see wagons pull out causing drivers to brake or swerve and then see the driver on the phone!

We had alot of good stuff in the 1st half but no end product, the final ball was often shocking or non existant. Mellis is as bad as everyone on here keeps saying, he got into good positions at least twice in the first half only to do nothing with it, its almost as if he panics, turns around and passes it back 50 yrds when all he had to do was cross it into the box and his miss in the 2nd half was embarressing. Lambert works his socks off but there is nothing he can do when the ball is consistently fired into his chest area and the nearest saints player to him is half a mile away.

James was shocking at RB, not sure where thomas was but we missed him there. AL again frustrates, lots of promise but no final delivery.

On the plus side. Holmes looked sharp when he came on and Morgan and Hammond appear to be getting an understanding.

Final point is that i do not understand why AP carrys on with 1 up front. It was obvious to all yesterday, including a few Carlisle who said that if we had played 2 up front in a 442 we would have had the game won by halftime.

Lol - we were speculating in the noorani when a post like this would show up. Thanks for not letting us down.

Shall I post up the drivers name and car registration?

As an aside, we were also speculating as to whether any nasty NIPs show up in the post.

I totally agree but, that said, AL, on yesterdays form, needs to play off the front pairing, which would make us too narrow in a 442.

Yesterday, with 2 proper forwards on the park, the game would have been won by 1/2 time.

Sums it up for me if only we took a chance and played two up front we would have walked away with the three points.

Don't peddle that excuse. Speed kills.

It's not an excuse, it's fact. I see more near accidents on the motorways every day from people who aren't paying attention and driving poorly than I do from someone driving too fast. They manage in Germany with no speed limits on the Autobahns.

The SWF authorities have a moral duty to inform the police of unlawful activities. If someone came on here boasting about abusing a child, would we all turn a blind eye? I would sincerely hope not and the principle is the same.

Or you get people pulling halfway into the next lane before they even look or indicate.....so busy daydreaming, it doesn't occur to them to look in their mirrors.

Your first post convinced me that you are a safe, but fast driver, but now it turns out that you aren't even looking where you're going. It's only a matter of time before you hurt yourself, or more importantly, someone else. An innocent.

Again, your description of your journey tells us all we need to know about your attitude to road safety. The laws of the road are the same oas other laws and are there for a reason. Does your lax attitude to the law spread into other areas?

Lol - we were speculating in the noorani when a post like this would show up. Thanks for not letting us down.

Shall I post up the drivers name and car registration?

So you sat about boasting about how you broke the law and wondering if anyone would point out that you could have killed someone during your spell of criminality?

The law is the law and I don't think we should allow people to break that law. As soon as the wider community get hold of the idea that it is ok to break the law society will fall apart. Imagine the impression you are all making on 16 and 17 year olds reading this site. As they get ready to become a driver on our roads they have the impression that is is ok to drive 100, 110, 120mph on the motorway. Well let me tell you; IT IS NOT OK.

I hope to God that none of you have to piece your lives together again after killing someone in a road accident or that you are the one responsible for orphaning a small child.

Thanks,

I was one of the ones who came up from St Marys on the travel club.

It was a great day obviously could been made better with a win!

Everyone(well a good %age) made a lot of noise...COYR!!

Thanks for the somewhat tedious lecture. I will pass it on to the driver. I was just a passenger - a fact that you seem to like to overlook. FWIW I personally don't feel comfortable with driving over 100mph myself. When someone else is driving, there are some that I feel perfectly safe with at high speed, and others I feel terrified with at relatively low speed - regardless of the speed limit. The police are taught to drive safely at very high speed. Safety is about the skill of the driver, not the speed limit of the road. You don't know the credentials of the driver in this case do you?
