ericofarabia Posted 27 September, 2009 Share Posted 27 September, 2009 I disagree with Shurlock on the chance, it was a sitter that I'd expect to be tucked away. The nipper made the mistake of going near post instead of across the keeper IMHO. I thought that Lallana was MOTM. His 1st touch and ability to turn away from challenges at the same time constantly gave him space. Unfortunately, with no midfielders breaking beyond him he often had the space to play a killer pass but no one ahead of him. I also thought he should have scored 1st half when put through but I may be doing him an injustice regarding the angle considering the angle we were watching from. AP has an interesting problem I agree, does he play 2 up top and AL behind in the hole or just Lambert up and AL off him? Either way AL, yesterday, was the best player on the park IMHO. You weren't in a silver 5 series BMW were you? One, with 4 saints in, went past me around the A6 Snap junction like a rocket, and I don't drive slowly myself! I also thought the pompey stickers in the urinal trough was a nice touch. Always nice to ****** on them. Would have been 922 if you had made it to the game of course. Far to many cliches in that detailed match report to suggest you were ar the game. Where do you live btw, Kendal? No, one of those hybrid thingies from Toyota - the m6 toll road makes a big difference, and zero hold-ups anywhere else. That late goal made our injun taste good :-)

St Will Posted 27 September, 2009 Share Posted 27 September, 2009 Brunton Park to the Noorani, Fair Oak, in 3 hours 53 minutes. Anyone beat that? Google maps says it should take 5 hours 27 minutes! I've done it in 2 hrs 45 on a quiet Sunday morning too. Edit: Sorry, I get what you're saying now.....obviously you slow down when you come up behind other cars, and there's those roadworks near Nottingham now. But when I had a free bit of road I was doing 100 Edited 27 September, 2009 by St Will

To be fair, I put it on cruise control at about 55....that way I'm making progress through the traffic, and I don't seem to be getting tickets! I think it's funny how thick some people are....they slow down for the cameras then speed up to 80 in between them. "Average" obviously doesn't register with some people! Wiltshire Saint Posted 27 September, 2009 Share Posted 27 September, 2009 I hope that the administrators of this board are going to do the following: 1. Make a statement regarding their opinion of speeding on the UK road system. 2. Pass on the names of those who have admitted speeding to the police so action can be taken against these law breakers. Some people don't seem to see a problem of going 100, 110, 120mph on the motorway and then coming on here telling people. Well, in my opinion this is exactly the same as someone coming on here admitting they mugged someone or r*ped someone. The law is the law.

I'm concentrating on the road, whereas those crawling along at the speed limit are chatting away, not always looking at the road, playing with their radio, generally daydreaming. I do at least 20,000 motorway miles a year, and the old people dawdling are much more dangerous than those who drive too fast. Oh, and I'm not a boy racer, I don't get right up behind other cars, I don't undertake or flash people out the way. But when the outside lane is clear, I bomb on. St Will Posted 27 September, 2009 Share Posted 27 September, 2009 Agreed, especially when you're trying to get on a motorway at speed and you have to slow down and change gear because someone is crawling alone the entrance. Or you get people pulling halfway into the next lane before they even look or indicate.....so busy daydreaming, it doesn't occur to them to look in their mirrors. The amount of dangerous driving I see up and down the M1 is ridiculous, and as I drive past the culprit, I look in, and they're always away with the fairies or chatting - completely oblivious. JustMike Posted 27 September, 2009 Share Posted 27 September, 2009 We had alot of good stuff in the 1st half but no end product, the final ball was often shocking or non existant. Mellis is as bad as everyone on here keeps saying, he got into good positions at least twice in the first half only to do nothing with it, its almost as if he panics, turns around and passes it back 50 yrds when all he had to do was cross it into the box and his miss in the 2nd half was embarressing. Lambert works his socks off but there is nothing he can do when the ball is consistently fired into his chest area and the nearest saints player to him is half a mile away. James was shocking at RB, not sure where thomas was but we missed him there. AL again frustrates, lots of promise but no final delivery. On the plus side. Holmes looked sharp when he came on and Morgan and Hammond appear to be getting an understanding. Final point is that i do not understand why AP carrys on with 1 up front. It was obvious to all yesterday, including a few Carlisle who said that if we had played 2 up front in a 442 we would have had the game won by halftime. I totally agree but, that said, AL, on yesterdays form, needs to play off the front pairing, which would make us too narrow in a 442. Yesterday, with 2 proper forwards on the park, the game would have been won by 1/2 time.

FWIW I personally don't feel comfortable with driving over 100mph myself. When someone else is driving, there are some that I feel perfectly safe with at high speed, and others I feel terrified with at relatively low speed - regardless of the speed limit. The police are taught to drive safely at very high speed. Safety is about the skill of the driver, not the speed limit of the road. You don't know the credentials of the driver in this case do you?
