The Godfather Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 Just heard Pardew on the radio and he sound relieved but a deserved point at least, said the fans who travelled up were superb on the day. Sounds like Lambert should of had a hat-trick and saints players missed chances aswell.
kpturner Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 Non-stop noise from the fans today. Every single player lobbed their shirt into the stand. Going home with a point is a relief, but we should be winning games like this. Now to get home before the noorani in fair oak shuts ;-)

glkdcdes Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 Obviously would have prefered three points, but at least we are not losing and our defence is looking fine for this league and should only get better. We are about half way in the current form league [last 6 games] and if we mantain that we will certainly be safe and lets face it thats the first priority. Still very early days but not too far away from moving up the table. We really need a couple of wins how ever we can get them, because the biggest thing we need now is confidence. As always the next, lets say three games are so important........... Why is it so hard to be a saints supporter..........
Saint_clark Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 ....a lucky point right at the end. Are we beginning to think Pardew is ****? A few seasons ago Derby scored right at the end against us to win the game. Did people think Billy Davies was a lucky manager? No, they thought he was god and that he had done brilliantly to get his team in such a physical state that they could score so late on.
Thedelldays Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 The 4 of them (all aged 20-21) are now on their way down to Blackpool for the night. B&B, a few beers, on the pull, more beer, and then drive home tomorrow. Sounds to me like something out of 'The In-betweeners' ffs! c'mon you were in the Andrew....you know full well what they will be getting up to in blackpool..or trying to.. we did a rig run there for the famous Christmas Tree ball (a week before xmas) in 2007...was unbelievable..especially when we were sat with the girls from emerdale drinking champers and partying the night away... CanadaSaint Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 Are we beginning to think Pardew is ****? Only the yoyo fans are - the people who (predictably) think we're either going up or going down based on each week's result. It was only days ago that people were full of praise for Pardew's performance at the fans' forum. Now some are on the verge of calling for his head. This team hasn't been together for more than a couple of weeks so there's still plenty of gelling to happen. We have no divine right to anything in this division, and it makes it all the harder that we're seen as a "big club" by pretty much every opponent. More good signs than bad today, judging by the commentary. Patience - there's a long way to go yet.
carljack Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 In a way this could bring the confidence that we need. Let's be fair we over the years have had so many games where the team would just give up after that. The players stuck at it and kept going and that in itself shows improvement. The fans who went also should take some credit, could hear them loads, wish i was there. We are progressing,Rome was not built in a day, what we must remember is that we were on a downward slope for 5/6 seasons, I think the downward spiral has ended, for some clubs it has carried them lower and lower, and eventually out of the Football league, this has not happened to us, thank god we are still in existance, it may take 5/6 seasons to turn it around, but so what? we nearly lost our club anything else in the next few years will be a very welcome bonus. Jewsons paint trophy anybody? SAINT TILL I DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
benjii Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 Because he's out of the game if the attack breaks down and the opponents come at us fast on the break. That's why central midfielders and full backs don't take corners, well not if the manager has any sense they don't. What nonsense.

John B Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 your allowed to have whatever opinion you want i have seen 2 of his 3 games and i can't judge him yet, As soon as Holmes and Waigo are match fit and can handle starting we will be a team with more pace. That in my view is our problem. Mellis is fast and sounds like he played well but i would prefer Holmes in there. badgerx16 Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 On balance the result was 'fair', even if the manner by which it was obtained might be judged 'lucky'. We, ( the AWAY team ), had 16 corners to their 8, ( according to the BBC ), so those who say we didn't create pressure must inhabit some sort of parallel universe Two slight concerns; the defence did seem a bit slow to react at times, but that may be due to lack of matches as a unit - so hopefully this will improve quickly. The other is that, even with that many corners, we created few clear chances. Again this might also, in part, be down to a lack of understanding between the players, but it does seem that we are still crossing from too deep. saintsforlife7 Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 Should have won this game at a canter. In terms of ability we were miles better but wimping out of headers at the back and a horrible rebound and they get a tap in. We had Mills and James on corners and Mills' were fantastic especially 1st half! We hit the keeper with every cross second half and the only one he dropped Jaidi headed in! Thank god, a point was fully deserved at the end of the day. Days like this are the days that make you proud to support this club, constant noise and Alan Pardews red n white army constant for about 15 minutes in the first half. Proud to be a saint on the long way back, shame we couldn't take all three points!

Bairdylegend Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 Oh dear, a few people upset by me questionning Pardew. My poitn is, there are team sin more aof a mess then us, far less resources, far worse players.... yet they are winning games. 1 win all season is poor, fact. we are still as far adrift of safety as we were in August, fact. This is all very reminiscent of rent a quote pardew when he was at Charlton. I would love the guy to succeed, but it just isnt at the moment. He talks a damn good game, but any other manager with that squad and 1 win all season would be in fear of his job. This next week will tell us alot, if our home form begins to produce wins then we have progress, if not, well, the daggers will fly.

up and away Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 I'd take a point, no matter when we scored. Like Pardew says, its like a cup tie for other teams when they play us! 1point better than 0 points! HTH :smt060 Pressure is starting to show with Pardew, that is a lame excuse coupled with similar from last Saturday. We are not seeing the best from Pardew as yet, not totally unfamiliar for him. It is taking a very long time for him to get his point across to the players, from what he says he wants, what the players do and his reactions on the touchline. At least the players brought in all look good, hopefully he will turn the corner soon.
