Just saw a snippet last night when the Everton thug was talking about only 3 clubs ever tried having a go in their patch. He was dismissive of West Ham , but not of Boro and he said a load of lads from Saintswent there once. New to me, anyone know when that could have been? I assume it was 20 years ago or so.

A long way to go to have a fight, and also see us lose . Goodison was always a bit of a disaster for us.I recall we won there 3-0 when we were relegated under LM apart from that a couple of real thumpings 8-0 and 7-1 added to letting in 2 late goals on sky.How I dislike Everton

I lived in Liverpool while I was growing up and would regularly go and watch everton and Liverpool with my mates. I particularly remember the 8-0 as I was in the Gladwys street end being ripped to shreds by about 50 scousers. Great day out.

I was at the 7-1 game. I think that was '96 when Souness was in charge. Also remember seeing us get beaten 4-1 in '88 or '89. If I remember correctly it was the first game where 3 brothers were in the starting line up. Rod, Ray and Danny Wallace. Think we went 1-0 up and then got battered :(

I remember us actually winning a game there. I think it was '97? It was a Sunday game which we won 2-0 or 2-1.

Yea, i think that was when Kevin Davies ran from the halfway line to score an amazing goal. Calls for him in the 98 World Cup squad during that scroing period for him. Happy days!!

Thats right I forgot that one. I really recall the 8-0, I was about 10 or 11 and my brother came back from doing his paper round and asked me what was the half time score and wouldnt believe me were 5-0 down.I think he punched me a few times as he thought I was larking about.Of course in those days the info was not quiote as freely available, and you had yto wait for the teleprinter to see the result. Oh the tension as we waited for saints score to come up on Grandstand.

Ps I dont want to recall Highbury 84

I remember that 3-0 win in our relegation year. The 'old' boys were stood there, transistor radios to their ears waiting for the Birmingham result. As their tears started to flow there was no need to tell us younger lads what had happened.

The incident you are talking about was c84/85 when a couple of vans of saints fans took it to their main pub. We had a few incidents with them around that time, the biggest being on the pitch at highbury after the 84 semi, which made big national news at the time.

I was trying to forget the highbury thing. It was worse than any relegation day I ever experienced. I fully understand why it went off on the day.It was like a death.

I didnt know about the 2 minibus thing.Took some guts that did.

Yes, I recall that also but at that time relegation was nowhere near as damaging as it is now and I'd already resigned myself to that happening after we lost 4-1 in a feeble display at West Ham. As it turned out who knows what might have been ( or not been !) had we stayed up !!

I switched on the TV at half time, it was already 6-0 so we improved 2nd half !

That'll be about right.

It was the season after they had been slapped all over Highbury in the semi.

I believe some posters on here were there.

Mind you - you only have to read the book Scally - sounds like it was the same guy who wrote the book.

A couple of transits went straight to their main pub, smashed the place up and gave the everton lads a good battle, they didn't expect it as nobody has had the balls to do it before.it was mentioned a while back on one of those silly danny dyer programs and the everton lad who was talking about gave a good account.

Tell them about the Transit very near getting turned over, with the lad with the broken arm still inside.

I got mistaken for either gary Steven or Trevor Stevens on a train in Germany en-route to the Euro Championships!!

Some nipper passed me in the corridor and did a double take, then said "Sorry mate, I thought you was ??? Steven(s), and I can't stand the bloke". "What would he be doing on a train when he's playing tomorrow" I said. "Good point mate" and off he ****ed.

...and didn't bother turning up at the Dell 3 days later when we played them in the league. There were more Saints fans in the away section than Scousers...
