doublesaint Posted 10 September, 2008 Share Posted 10 September, 2008 Any suggestions on the best way to get there ie underground or regular train, and train stops etc. And any recommended pubs en route?
shepherds bush saint Posted 10 September, 2008 Share Posted 10 September, 2008 From Waterloo get the Jubilee line to Bond Street, change to Central Line and get off at White City. Pubs, I would suggest Walkabout for rowdiness. Wetherspoons is good if you like the ales like me!
stevegrant Posted 10 September, 2008 Share Posted 10 September, 2008 Important to note for those who want to go to the Wetherspoons at Shepherds Bush, the Central Line station at Shepherds Bush is closed for refurbishment.
till i die Posted 10 September, 2008 Share Posted 10 September, 2008 Because Central Line is closed, I would suggest Waterloo - Jubilee Line to Baker Street, change to Hammersmith & City Line and get off at Shepherd's Bush. Travel time 23mins
scott_saints Posted 11 September, 2008 Share Posted 11 September, 2008 Apparently it's quicker to aim for the Shepherds Bush on the H&C line anyway??
stevegrant Posted 11 September, 2008 Share Posted 11 September, 2008 Apparently it's quicker to aim for the Shepherds Bush on the H&C line anyway?? Not according to the Tube route planner. 33 minutes from Waterloo to Shepherds Bush (H&C) via Baker Street 23 minutes from Waterloo to White City (next stop on the Central line from SB) via Bond Street

Saint In Exile Posted 11 September, 2008 Share Posted 11 September, 2008 Not according to the Tube route planner. 33 minutes from Waterloo to Shepherds Bush (H&C) via Baker Street 23 minutes from Waterloo to White City (next stop on the Central line from SB) via Bond Street Also, there's a free bus that runs from White City tube station to Shepherds Bush tube and back again whilst the station is closed. For anyone who's planning on driving, the traffic around Shepherds Bush at the moment is an absolute nightmare. There's various lanes closed around the Green itself and Wood Lane is currently one way only (Southbound) so you can't drive from Shepherds Bush Green up towards White City Tube. The natural alternative to this, and the route currently taken by the buses that would go north along Wood Lane when on diversion, takes you along South Africa Road, which is directly outside the stadium and normally gets closed by the police when games are on. If you are driving I'd make sure you give yourself plenty of time.
