Lets B Avenue Posted 22 September, 2009 Share Posted 22 September, 2009 Saints to the fore! Not only Le Tiss' "magic strike" against Taibi, but then followed by Beattie's OG v Derby, with Paul Jones going walkabout. We then have Shilts in the 90 World Cup 3rd place play off. Still say Baggio was offside when he gets the ball back. The no.1 was, I think, at Wolfsburg who are this year in the Champions League. Sky used to show the Bundesliga and people used to sit in the trees behind that goal. They were also managed by the marvellously named, Wolfgang Wolf. Saint Martini Posted 22 September, 2009 Share Posted 22 September, 2009 I forgot what an awful goalkeeper Barthez was. How the hell did he end up playing for big clubs for so long?!
Rattlehead Posted 22 September, 2009 Share Posted 22 September, 2009 I forgot what an awful goalkeeper Barthez was. How the hell did he end up playing for big clubs for so long?! Was at that game and that was Massimo Taibi, not Barthez. Cost about £4.5m I seem to recall. A bit more than Rory Delap, read into that what you will. I also won a fair bit on Marian scoring the first goal in that game, nutmegging Jaap Stam, which was a joy to behold.
saint_bert Posted 23 September, 2009 Share Posted 23 September, 2009 I forgot what an awful goalkeeper Barthez was. How the hell did he end up playing for big clubs for so long?! In fairness barthez was a great gk shotstopping wise. A save he made from hamman, kop end lives on in my memory. Top corner dive was incredible
Dimond Geezer Posted 23 September, 2009 Share Posted 23 September, 2009 Looking at that lot, I can see shades of myself in my younger, more athletic days. :smt102 The smiley thing was my usual reaction after something like these happened.

oxfordshire_saint Posted 23 September, 2009 Share Posted 23 September, 2009 Kelvin trying to shepherd the ball out of play vs QPR at St Mary's a couple of years back and completely bodging it up, allowing the late Ray Jones to score.
keithd Posted 25 September, 2009 Share Posted 25 September, 2009 I forgot what an awful goalkeeper Barthez was.
