krissyboy31 Posted 22 September, 2009 Posted 22 September, 2009 Ohh Nooossss!!! Until this morning I was confident of our first 3 point haul on the road this season and finally getting into positive territory. That was before I realised that they were playing the Skates this evening. I can see a heavy home victory coming in that one and just our luck, their confidence will be sky high on Saturday.
skintsaint Posted 22 September, 2009 Posted 22 September, 2009 extra time would be nice and then a demorising 3-0 defeat after extra time...
stevegrant Posted 22 September, 2009 Posted 22 September, 2009 No matter how rubbish Pompey have been in the league (and by all accounts they actually played alright against Villa), they won't lose to Carlisle tonight. 4/5 on them to win is decent value, IMO.
Arizona Posted 22 September, 2009 Posted 22 September, 2009 Can't believe it. Carlisle is less than 2 hours from my house and I can't go because I'm working.
saints triumph Posted 22 September, 2009 Posted 22 September, 2009 Off up to blackpool for my sons engagement meal on Friday. Then we are off to carlisle the following day, only 98 miles from blackpool.

ON this basis I have just put a bet on Carlisle to win. And Leeds.

No. Trust me. It'll be a 0-0 draw at full-time, exhausting extra time, lots of injuries, then a close defeat for portsmouth on penalties. Carlisle emotionally and physically drained for saturday. Portsmouth humiliated. Ok? ;-) K.

Um Bongo Posted 22 September, 2009 Posted 22 September, 2009 Ian Harte has put Carlisle 1-0 up after 3 minutes....beating Pompey
S-Clarke Posted 22 September, 2009 Posted 22 September, 2009 lol @ portsmouth. ahhhhh they're ****ed. but do we want Carlisle to have a confidence boosting win......or a morale sapping thrashing with red cards and a few knocks ahead of Saturday?
saints triumph Posted 22 September, 2009 Posted 22 September, 2009 me and a couple of mates are staying in Blackpool for the weekend and making the trip to carlise on the saturday too, you driving or the train? Not sure yet. My son is sussing the time and cost of the train. Its only 98 miles from blackpool by road. But it would be good to have a few celebratery beers though. Does anyone know how far from the rail station the gound is.
Arizona Posted 22 September, 2009 Posted 22 September, 2009 I'd rather Carlisle won to be honnest. Would make it all the more satisfying if we won on Saturday.

hypochondriac Posted 22 September, 2009 Posted 22 September, 2009 I want Pompey to win because it will mean that their manager will keep his job. 2-1 Skates.
ooohTerryHurlock Posted 22 September, 2009 Posted 22 September, 2009 Can't believe it. Carlisle is less than 2 hours from my house and I can't go because I'm working. do you not feel sick on saturday??? I think you do!!

Bout a mile or so, it looks like on the map anyway, couple of pubs on route too *edit found this Brunton Park is situated about a mile from Carlisle Citadel station, but is relatively easy to get to. Upon exiting the station's main entrance, walk the short distance around The Crescent until reaching Warwick Road. You will be able to see the old Main Stand and the strangely-shaped roofs of the Warwick Road end after walking for about twenty minutes. There are directions to the away supporters' turnstiles above the Carlisle United club shop Edited 22 September, 2009 by Iowsaintsfan
Arizona Posted 22 September, 2009 Posted 22 September, 2009 do you not feel sick on saturday??? I think you do!! Sadly not. Not worth the lost £££, not by a long way. Should be getting to quite a few games after this weekend though.
Saint Mikey Posted 22 September, 2009 Posted 22 September, 2009 Anyone know how many of the 'best fans in the world' actually travelled up there this eve? I'll take a guess at 2/300 max.

RedAndWhite91 Posted 23 September, 2009 Posted 23 September, 2009 Just read this on a Carlisle forum written about the P*rtsmouth away fans. "I dont give out praise lightly at all but possibley the best away fans i have ever seen at BP. None stop racket for 94 mins. One of the few proper footballing towns." "They are great fans - the most loyal I've ever met, having lived in pompey for 6 years or so. Very proud of their city, it's history and their footy club." On Saturday we have to be louder and better, so Carlisle fans don't think "Ooh Pompey fans were better than them"... We, as fans, now have a point to prove! Let's not let our club down, let's get behind them 100%, get the 3 points, and prove that our support is better than Pompey's.

mrs woody Posted 24 September, 2009 Posted 24 September, 2009 Spoke to a Ponpey fan who thought it was so funny that they had stuck Pompey stickers on the seats. I dont know what is more sad them sticking them on the seats or them actually wasting money buying them!
St Michael Posted 24 September, 2009 Posted 24 September, 2009 I phoned the SFC ticket office and was told away fans will be able to pay on the gate at Brunton Park. Apparently ground is 10 mins walk from the train station. Am getting the train up from Leeds. See you there, folks.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 24 September, 2009 Posted 24 September, 2009 I hope our support is vocal up there. I don't want to be the only person standing...
RedAndWhite91 Posted 24 September, 2009 Posted 24 September, 2009 Not sure yet, my mate has my ticket... I'll find out later and let you know.
bungle Posted 24 September, 2009 Posted 24 September, 2009 red and white what row you in, Not sure yet, my mate has my ticket... I'll find out later and let you know. Don't sit in your allocated seat. HTH.

RedAndWhite91 Posted 24 September, 2009 Posted 24 September, 2009 Don't sit in your allocated seat. HTH. I plan to go where it's loudest and where people are standing. I hope it's like Charlton but not holding out for that. Hopefully there will be common sense and those who want to sing and stuff will band together.

explorer saint Posted 24 September, 2009 Posted 24 September, 2009 From a Carlisle fans site!! ''A midweek game where tbf the draw of Carlisle was not that brilliant. Just under 600 in attendance. I wonder how many scummers will be at the game on saturday for what is an important league match? I would hope more than what Pompey brought last night but I wonder what noise they make!?'' ''You lot judge!'' Well believe it or not Yak pal, the lure of Premiership opposition in the form of Portsmouth wasn't that great either, hence why the attendance was only just over 7,000. Weak Premiership club in quality and stature, whose stay in the top flight will highly likely be coming to an end come May. You've been punching above your weight for too many years now, are you are not attractive opponents. Can we stop the ****ging of their support? They are still southern fairies, no matter what racket that nutjob with his bell can make, it's embarrassing. They probably view away games as a chance to escape the doom and gloom of Portsmouth
Roger Ramjet Posted 24 September, 2009 Posted 24 September, 2009 Is anyone actually going out in Carlisle after the game on Sat?! Sounds like most are heading back to B'pool - fun, but been there done that last season...
Legod Third Coming Posted 24 September, 2009 Posted 24 September, 2009 Carlisle is a MUST WIN game for me. To build the confidence and momentum we need for the season ahead - indeed for the next five years - nothing else really matters. To win the game - however it comes - would send a signal to the team, the fans and the remainder of the league that we are BACK and we now mean business. Two wins becomes three and then four... That's how sport works, MOMENTUM. For those of you hardy souls going, don't let us down - I know you won't.
S-Clarke Posted 24 September, 2009 Posted 24 September, 2009 Pard's has more or less confirmed on Saints Player that Papa and Thomo are out of the game on Saturday. He states he's targeting a win there, as he wants to go to the home game v rovers on +1, as that will be an extremely hard game. Also said, in his usual honest way, that the fans have been outstanding...but he's sure they will loose faith at points during the season, because in his words....''we're not a very good team yet''.
VectisSaint Posted 24 September, 2009 Posted 24 September, 2009 Is anyone actually going out in Carlisle after the game on Sat?! Sounds like most are heading back to B'pool - fun, but been there done that last season... Think yopu'll be better off going back to Blackpool. Was there on Monday night (got out quick on Tuesday). It was closed. Seriously. Took ages to find anywhere open to eat, very few pubs were even occupied (and not many existed). I could not believe how **** the town was, looked like Skateville on a bad day LOL.
John B Posted 24 September, 2009 Posted 24 September, 2009 Pard's has more or less confirmed on Saints Player that Papa and Thomo are out of the game on Saturday. QUOTE] Still should be able to win without Papa and Thomas hopefully.

QUOTE] Still should be able to win without Papa and Thomas hopefully. You would have thought so. Waigo, despite having my vote as a decent prospect this for this season, has not yet had a massive impact. We have been doing alright without him, and that won't change on Saturday. Be good to have him back though. Thomas is a good player but he has been playing out of position, shame not to have him available but we will be alright.
