Griffo Posted 22 September, 2009 Share Posted 22 September, 2009 I like the away fans being between the two sets of vocal support. Keep it as it is, just open up the Itchen North again, which I'm sure will happen if/when we get promoted back to the Championship? Also, in the Itchen North songs are sung properly because you don't get the thick chavs banging the backboards which make every song go quicker and quicker until no one can keep up and the song drowns out. 70's Mike Posted 22 September, 2009 Share Posted 22 September, 2009 No worse than some of our own in my experience. Often I have embarrasingly come away from games and had to ask my son what certain words mean't. oh please
Sour Mash Posted 22 September, 2009 Share Posted 22 September, 2009 Keep it as it is, but open the Itchen North again as stated above. There are a number of mainly logisitcal reasons why the away fans can't be moved unfortunately.

The Icthen North will not be open if/when we get promoted back to the Championship imo. The only way it will be open is if we fill the ground. It annoys me because I want my seat back but not a lot we can do!
Simon_UK Posted 22 September, 2009 Share Posted 22 September, 2009 we have been through this many times before, the stadium was built on police advice to house the away fans where they are, the northam was designed differently (5 turnstyles) so that it could be segregated easilly. To move the away fans anywhere else would involve a lot of work to put in seperate concourses etc, so in a word It aint gonna happen.

If he believes there is a value in doing it which outweighs the potential costs then it is going to happen.

Possibly but the club would have to get Hampshire Constabulary to okay it, otherwise it won't happen.
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 23 September, 2009 Share Posted 23 September, 2009 Any change that involves forcibly moving existing season ticket holders out of their seats will certainly cause offence , upsetting our fans for some extremely dubious (and potentially expensive) reason that as far as I can see offers us precious little real advantage seems both unnecessary and pointless . Nicola Cortese may well be considering this , but not for very long I guess .
yorkie Posted 23 September, 2009 Share Posted 23 September, 2009 This is all absolute ******! When did it kick off in The Itchen North? Apart from the numpties in an exec box from Pompey giving it large, and a few desperate Cardiff fans wanting a swing a couple of seasons ago it never has! All this jesticulating and offensive/abusive behaviour is usually all forgotten at the end of the game anyway. I can't recall a mass exodus from the Itchen North to have a go at the away fans in the car park - it's usually all the chav youff from The Notham goading them! The sole of the stadium was lost when they closed the Itchen North corner - I still beleive it was nothing to do with cost just Rupert having his revenge on the "lunatic fringe". OldNick Posted 23 September, 2009 Share Posted 23 September, 2009 I personally would love to have 1 kop end where all the singing fans congregated and gave the team fantastic backing.I cant think of another group of fans who are happier being divided around the ground.Even the Fratton end is away from the away fans. I suggest the ones wanting to stay in the same place try a different stand.I have sat in the Itchen corner and you cant hear the Northam due to the away fans. The same being if you sit in the Northam you cant hear the Itchen.Obviously you can when the away support is small but generally when the away fans are singing you cant hear them. All together in 1 place and we'd be superb. Hence why Liverpool Man u Villa and even Pompey get lauded for their atmospheres is because there i one co,plete end that gets the place rocking. It needs to change and we can go back to the Milton or even the Archers days , with one group of ans really getting the place going. If it meant going to th chapel one and all Id be for it

If you move the away fans to the itchen corner then it's hardly any season ticket holders who will have to move.
alehouseboys Posted 23 September, 2009 Share Posted 23 September, 2009 To be honest the most logical place to house the 'aways' is where it currently is, for all the reasons already pointed out. The best option would probably be if, as discussed on the 'World Cup Bid' thread, we expanded SMS and the Itchen for a 2018 WC stadium. We could then push them right into the corner and give them space on the tier above, which having been to WHL numerous times does affect the away support. Something like this...
