For me, the most revealing thing that came out from tonight, is how it seems Fry and BT dealt with the administration process.

Cortese didn't speak highly of them at all, he even went as far as saying that it didn't seem that they wanted them - they were being pushed away and could have walked.

I must admit, it did seem that Fry did favor Pinnacle - mainly due to the MLT factor i guess, as he knew that would be a popular buzz around the city.

But by god, im glad they didn't walk away. Show's they're dedicated at least!

all very positive wished someone had asked where they expect to be in 5 years.

could not go because in Leeds for work

They said that a return to the premier league within 5 years was achievable

Agree with that SC, there were some very revealing comments, from what he said it did seem that they where pushed out for pinnacle even though they had made an offer for the club & were ready to go. Lets just thank God that they felt strongly enough to come back to the table again.

that was brilliant. I just left and feel really positive now (ignoring the idiot at the front and the back). I asked cortese at the end about the Itchen North and he said he found it odd how the away and homes fans were together on one end and it was something they were looking into. the entire northam as home fans?

This would be a dream, with the away fans pushed round a bit to far northam corner . itchen north, if the northam could be filled we would REALLY get st.marys rocking! And we'd still be able to see the away fans to gloat and take the **** :D

Sounded good and pleased that Pardew and Cortese can see what we can after years of the board and various managers having their head in the sand. Roll on Carlisle where we can hopefully get into positive points and we are staying with Carlisle-supporting friends in Chorley and travelling up to Cumbria on Saturday so 3 points washed down with some Moorhouses's Black Cat and Witches' Pendle Brew will do nicely.

Looking seriously at bid for world cup 2018 host city.

in hands of City council at the moment. We've made the contact and wheels have been put in motion.

Not many have commented about that, t'would be magic, and would mean the ground being extended too! I know I don't live in Soton, or even in the UK at the moment, but it's the sort of thing the city needs to get off it's arse.

Did nobody ask about Lallana's corners?

I loved Nicola's comment about Pompey in that piece too.... (something along the lines of...) ''well, Portsmouth are the favorites for it - Whenever they get their act together!''

good man...:D (they wont btw)

Kelvin 7 - not much to do but a safe pair of hands.

Nicola 8 - very creative, never shirked a tackle, held the play together, has a great future.

Pards 9 - brilliant all round game, would have had 10 if able say Kelvin, not Calvin.

Overall impression - 8.5

This lot will take some stopping when the wheels really start rolling !

Sadly not but maybe someone will corner (scuse the pun) AP in the bar afterwards and report back here later !

That's fantastic news! lets hope the council don't **** it up, Southampton is easily the best option for the South.

I still don't think anything like the whole story has emerged re the Pinnacle fiasco yet.

One day it won't matter but it is irksome while we still struggle to properly organise ourselves. At the end of the day it could cost us a play off place.

Spent the day with 2 Reading fans and one WHU fan and they all slagged AP for his arrogance. I suggested that perhaps he had seen the error of his ways and learnt a few things but they would not have it. Fans rarely have a good word for ex managers I suppose.

Mind you after Reading's start and the way they were muttering about their new manager already perhaps they were jealous they could have got Pardew back before we came in for him.

It sounds like the guy can communicate, he certainly talks intelligently and in this day and age that is half the battle.

After listening to that very pleasurable hour long fans forum I have drawn two conclusions.

1) Thank **** Marcus Liebherr and Nicola Cortese stuck around despite other parties including the administrators trying to push them away.

2) I also thank my lucky stars we have Alan Pardew as our manager. What a refreshing change this man is. I was pleased when he was appointed and after hearing that I have no doubts we have the man to take us where we want to be.

Just brilliant! :D

I took my lad to watch the training then went onto the forum.

Jaidi is enormous up close...Papa looked lively but a bit erratic but very keen, Lallana was the most skilfiul, Bart looked a very good shot stopper and better than the last few games where he had missed most.

I have seen 4 previous forums and believe me this was the best. I was told a couple of things about Pardew but trust me this guy knows his stuff and although on a full charm offensive his answers and honesty were so refreshing.

Perry, O Callaghan and the guy from the Saints Trust all asked questions and were handled very diplomatically but firmly by the Radio Solent guy and AP.

A couple of things off air....Holmes is playing for the Ressies tomorrow at Reading to get more match fitness. We are looking at someone from Newport...which was a response from someone asking about whether we looked at non-league players.

I think Pardew is keen to do more of these as he said to the BBC guy we could do a whole evening show.

Why would being the bid city in the south mean St Marys would get extended? Would this be at our cost to do this then?

No, we would get partial funding from the government.

And it would be expanded because they need to be over 40k. The difference between ours and Pompey is obvious - the city for one, and the fact that SMS was designed with the option to be extended.

some bloke (O'Callaghan, Chairman) from SISA wasn't listening at all, and wants to know Cortese didn't come in 3 months prior! (daft question)

And he wants the beer prices cut to £3 a pint!

Why do people waste time on these forums by asking **** questions like the price of beer ?

If you can afford a ST ,you can afford the £3.50 , if not just fill your bladder somewhere cheaper before you come.

Sounds like the feel good factor is alive and well.

All we need now is Carlisle to have a tough game with our blue neighbours before they beat them. Then we can get a slightly easier game with them getting tired towards the finish of our game.

I would love it if we got the world cup slot... After that lot were laughing at us for being chosen to host rugby world cup games as they were deffo going to be a 2018 venue (should England get the bid)

lol indeed

One of the questions raised was about a bus for disabled fans, but I couldn't hear the reply on the radio as my dog barked at the crucial moment. Anyone know what the reply was. Cheers.

I see no reason why it shouldn't happen.

P+mpey will never get a new ground now (or even new training facilities) and if the council support things it could become a reality.

NC just said passionately "I will certainly look into that" or something to that effect, didnt need to say much more as its a very valid point

We'll look into it was the reply.

Also tonight i've learnt that whilst Pardew does rate Kelvin as the best captain he's ever had that he also thinks his name is Calvin!

Very upbeat forum.

Pardew talks so much sense, can't say I can disagree with anything he said and has said since he got here. Hopfully some of the moaners on here will have heard it too!

Sounds like he wants to keep Trotman, fought well to keep Lallana and sees the potential and also failings in Morgan.

I think the likes of Gillett, Holmes, Thomson will all be let out on loan.

Pards also said he is keen to see Kayne McLaggon play as he could provide the pace we need. Sounds like those within the club have been bigging him up to AP.

Only downside is that when the chance is there to ask anything to the main people at the club some of the questions were so long-winded and boring, an hour wasnt enough to cover all the issues.

Some of those people who represent so-called supporters clubs don't come across well at all. A little interlectually limited if anything. They don't represent the vast vast majority of fans and nobody really knows their poxy club exists, so it has no weight in any discussion!

Funny as Fook though, and to think that the Echo and local radio gives these clowns media space, just hope pardew and the others have experience of the local didlos at other clubs open evenings and managed to keep a straight and very polite face throughout macmillans ramblings. LOL

How nice is it to read all to read all these positive reactions to a fans forum on here.

After the garbage of the last few years I could hardly be happier and more optimistic about our future. Saints fans apparently CAN be united. :-)

I agree but we will only be really happy when results on the pitch improve and promotion from League 1 becomes a reality

Have you tried Dial-A-Ride cam? I know that they run at least one bus from door to door on matchdays, but it would be a good move if the club could introduce their own scheme or even subsidise Dial-A-Ride to run more services. Here's their contact info:

http://www.southampton.gov.uk/people/easyread/transport/tguide20.asp

Incidentally, I was up at Andover New Street's ground yesterday for their 'inclusive' football tournament. Saints entered 2 senior teams and 1 junior team. A very enjoyable day watching grass roots football played in the true spirit of the game. But on the transport side I was surprised that 'we' all travelled by car, bus, train and taxi! Even more surprised when the Bournemouth crowd pulled up in their club coach, very impressive, and well done for providing it when their purse strings are a bit tight.

I think you may be putting your own spin on things here. He never said he was keen to see McLaggon play - he said he hadn't seen him (and to be honest sounded like he'd barely heard of him).

He gave no indication of the players he wants to loan out either, just that he wants to get some out.

Personally I'd agree that some of the questions were not the ones I would have asked but they were obviously important to the people who asked them - it's a little rich calling them interlectually (sic) challenged when you can't spell intellectually though isn't it?

Just out of interest, do we still need to have the Saints Trust and SISA?

I like Perry, he helped out the young lad sorting out the protests last year, but tonight I felt wasn't the night to talk us up as a big club.

I could hear someone say to him, 'but we are in League 1', which was right. We have no divine right to be in the Prem - yes, that is where we SHOULD be, but we aren't.

At least now, after all the bull we've been through, we have custodians of the club who are planning on doing the RIGHT THING.

That is something I will be eternally grateful for, and Messrs Liebherr, Cortese, Oldknow and Pardew should be allowed to get on with it.

We've got a second chance we never thought possible. Let's enjoy the ride for once.
