mightysaints Posted 20 September, 2009 Posted 20 September, 2009 Had the dreaded YLOD this week. I reflowed the motherboard using a heat gun and it appeard to work. When we turned on the greem light comes on and appears to be working now but we have no picture or sound. We have tried the reset procedure as well. If we can't get it to work i will sell the bits in it for spares Is there anyone local that repairs PS3's as its out of warrenty and Sony want 150 to repair it which i can't afford. Blueray drive is good HD is a 60 gig and reformatted Power supply is good Case is fine
Danny Posted 22 September, 2009 Posted 22 September, 2009 It will still be covered under the Sale of Goods Act 1976. Just take it back to the shop and they have to offer to repair it (for a fee, unless it is quite new) or offer you a replacement at a discounted rate. As it's the 60Gb one, I guess it's about two years old, right?

Not if you have taken it apart and looked at it yourself,i do repair these but i have to say the sucess rate is not great on PS3 they usually fail again at some point if the factory repair has not been carried out.

mightysaints Posted 24 September, 2009 Author Posted 24 September, 2009 Hi Sorry but are you saying that you won't repair it but only buy it off me. I am willing to pay for the repair.
sfcjmcsfc16 Posted 24 September, 2009 Posted 24 September, 2009 The price of the repair would be £35 and for that its not worth doing were as if i was to purchase the playstation could then sell it on. sorry.
mightysaints Posted 24 September, 2009 Author Posted 24 September, 2009 £35 to get it going again seems very reasonable to me, are you sure i can't change your mind to repair it. I would pay you £50 to get it going again as i cannot afford to buy a new one.
