I think it's a bloody shame to destroy what looks like a perfectly good car from the 1950's. I can only hope it was in a very poor mechanical state and was sprayed up to look good again.

 

Obviously, with computer-aided design, stress points and strengths in structures can be finely tuned for safety. No doubt, in 20 years time, we'll all look back and chuckle at this era.
