hardly fair to judge him on 20 minutes. His pace seemed to cause problems in the Yeovil defence and had a couple of efforts on goal. Wait until he starts, then we'll see.

beat his player couple of times, made defender panic into giving away free kick in dangerous position when breaking at speed, two shots on target - one resulting in corner (possibly two) not bad for 20 mins!

Not sure how well he will do but bit more positive than some drama queen who has never seen him play!

Great; Waigo's not even played half an hour for us yet and he's already being written-off by someone who hasn't seen him play?!

It really defies belief doesn't it ?

I thought he looked like he will be a handfull for most defences in this league.

unbelievabley harsh thread,he's hat 3-4 minits at charlton, plus 20-25 today and didn't look too shabby,he is obviously not match fit so we should ease up & give the lad a break

I think he might turn out to be a bit of a Wanchope (I mean this in a good way!!!).

He strikes me as someone who perhaps plays on instinct and doesn't know what he's going to do half the time; and if he doesn't the opposition defenders sure as hell won't either!!

He had 20 minutes. Give him a bit more time! Took it round the keeper easily, only to be booked.

He took it around the keeper about 5 seconds after the ref had blown for offside.

There is a danger the fans are bigging him up too much. Looked raw to me and needs to understand the offside law.

What a crap thread.

People judging Papa after 15minutes, whilst giving the likes of Schneider-can-pass-the-ball-when-he-feels-like-it-but-sod-all-else-lin and Lall-cant-hit-a-corner-to-save-his-life-ana every single game to prove their worth.

You couldnt make it up...

Keeps getting caught offside etc. Was not at the game today sadly; but is he all that he's cracked up to be?

I fecking hope so.

what a twit yes he did get offside a bit but give the guy a bloody chance for gods sake.

Duncan you are better than that he is a professional footballer ....... i'm 100% confident he knows the offside law

And Alpine is right .....crap thread

From a person who was there... He is fast.... He will definately cause havoc in all defences in this league, knows where the goal is too. When he aclimatices to english lower league football I believe he will be a revalation. He gets in the box quick, and whoever says he was showboating saw something I didn't.

He is fecking quick and therein lies the problem, once he has a couple of games under his belt he will time himself better and spring defences left right and centre, unfortunately judging by the quality of officiating I've seen so far this season about 90% of his runs will be given offside incorrectly.

At least half the times he was offside the lino made a mistake, especially the time that resulted in him being booked he was onside by a good foot at least and through on goal. I was sat behind the lino in the Kingsland so had a good view

Bah my football knowledge is basically incredible. :) Search and you shall find. I want his name on my shirt! FFS :p

The best view of Waigo was from the Chapel end of the Kingsland. He definitely presented a threat with his speed and showed some clever touches. Saints were more on top after he came on. Taking a near post shot, when he might have been expected to cross, was a good move, and resulted in the keeper having to concede a corner. IMHO he looked more likely to score than any other player.

You are correct sir

Thought he was good TBH. Seems a bit of a character, chased defenders and got straight up when flattened.

But he is the good bit. Unlike our other players he ran in behind, ran straight at defenders committing them with his pace and was running towards the goal.

Very encouraging, he seemed to have a good first touch too.

Also a couple of the offsides were very tight and think one the players get used to his runs and release the ball earlier he will be very dangerous.

One of the problems was that he made runs anticipating a pass that was too late coming. Do not forget he is dropping down three levels where with the exception of Morgan S (who went off when he came on) we do not have a player with that level of insight and passing ability.

Rickie Lambert was interviewed on Solent after the game and whilst he praised Waigo, he did mention the tendency to go offside and said its hard to give him advice as he doesn't understand English, and even if he did, he probably wouldn't understand Scouse (which is Rickie's native tongue).

It is not such a bad thing to be caught offside, shows you are playing on the shoulder of the last defender.

David Villa was caught offside more than anyone else in La Liga last season....

Thought for his brief appearance today he is showing good promise. Made a few darting runs, his acceleration beat the line numerous times and it'll just be a case of getting one of five right and he's in.

Didn't he also tower above the defence for a header on target ? A good run into the box a few mins later (onside) and a tight angle but managed to force the keeper make a save on the ground and out for a corner.

All in all, thought he had a great game and can't wait to see more of his skills.

It's not really fair to judge him on today's showing. It looked to me like he was too eager to make an impact and maybe that's why he was offside so often. I'm sure that the coaching staff can curb his enthusiasm.

And to start a thread criticising him on it when you weren't even at the game.....:smt067:smt067:smt067:smt067:smt067

I'm just very worried the fans seem to regard him as the second coming.

He looked very very raw and a player who gets caught offside 5 or 6 times in 15 minutes is not really "thinking" about the game.

I wish him well - we need his pace and unpredictability but let's not build him up too much, just yet. Not speaking the language etc will mean he has a lot on his plate at present and expectations should be kept to sensible proportions. It is good AP is introducing him slowly.

We have signed too many wonderkids over the last few years who I got really excited about - Delgado and Ekelund - to name but two and to enthuse too much after nothing more than a cameo performance can be counter productive. Hence my negativity.

Sir, you didn't ask a question, you made a personal observation or statement ! either were incorrect in my opinion …. As for the kiss on the bum, may I pass ??

Your so negative FFS. It is people like you, Alpine and TDD that are ruining this club, we nearly didn't have a club to support don't you know, and dont get me started on the -10......;)

No one thinks that.

Some ****s never happy, not the best of games but the whole crowd lifted when he came on, and the man didn't let us down, looked quick maybe a bit nieve, but he looked like he could a create something, we need that badly I would say 9 out of 10
