saintwarwick Posted 22 September, 2009 Share Posted 22 September, 2009 Very encouraging but could have done without the boat show or the dumping of student clearance at their Solent unversity halls of residence. Traffic from Chilworth roundabout and down the avenue was worse than the Premiership days except every other car had a duvet and poster of a tennis player scatching her backside instead of a Saints sticker. At this rate I am going to have to switch off Jeff Stelling and the boys a lot earlier than I have been doing as I missed the first 10 minutes and that hasn't happened since some night game in the Premiership a long time ago! Agree about the traffic, my normal two hour trip took three hours and ten minutes and the avenue was awful, however my car did not have a duvet in it. saintwarwick Posted 22 September, 2009 Share Posted 22 September, 2009 I am going to let you in on a big secret. Use the Portswood bypass. No probs at all getting in or out. It's not normally a problem down the avenue. This was a one of which I and others forgot about what with the students and the boat show.
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 22 September, 2009 Share Posted 22 September, 2009 They sold out for the Norwich game at the weekend I think. But I agree, their away support is crap. Especially down here, how many did they bring last season? I even remember their first season down in The Championship when they played us - they must have been in the top 5 but didn't pack the away stand out and it looked half empty. If you have ever spent any amount of time in East Anglia, especially Norfolk, the place is a virtual desert and you'll realise that there really is bugger all to do, so it's not surprising that there is great support for the football team. Just come back from two weeks in Norfolk and apart from taking in two Speedway meetings at Kings Lynn, I agree with you!
brianoneils slidingtackle Posted 27 September, 2009 Share Posted 27 September, 2009 Anybody notice that Plymouth's attendance today was less than 15,000, they actually gave away over 10,000 free tickets to students and under 18's, but still only got 15K..Disgusting, what with Pompeys attendance as well, shows what good support Saints can muster bottom of div 1 with -points.
