Should be moving to Bristol in October and intend to go to all Saints matches when I'm not working. If anyone wants to share a lift and spread the cost of petrol around let me know.

Should be no more than 2 hours from Bristol via Westbury and Salisbury by train. I do it from Taunton by train - 1030 off Taunton - change Westbury, 1215 into Southampton £20 return.

Also train is much easier.

Haven't decided yet.

Train is about the same journey time and price for one person alone, but I guess you can drink more. Point taken.

Edit: Ron - apparently it's £26 return on a Saturday. None-stop from Temple Meads to Central.

Yeah it's a good service, very rarely delayed, but sometimes full after Salisbury depending on whether its 2 or 3 coaches.

Feck me, it's near £15 return from Poole to Soton Central and that's a 45 min journey!!

10.20ish from Bristol Temple Meads is the usual service. Gets in at about midday.

Our small group doesn't tend to go to many home games any more, not many games at all, now I think about it. However, I'm sure you'll see bungle getting on at Bath.

Why, does he have a distinguishing feature?

Sometimes am staying in Bath and would be up for sharing petrol costs, as and when. Have no wheels currently so normally rely on trains. Quite a good service but make sure you take your own tinnies! Buffet is priced for a captive audience!

having to train it from cardiff now thanks to uni, although limited to matches due to funds

At least you're not missing matches because you're doing any of that nasty part time work thing on Saturdays to earn money then?

I love the stop at Westbury anyone been in the little club opposite the station reminds me of something out of the Wheeltappers & Shunters etc, but they are always very welcoming when we pop in there for a few beers.

Hate Westbury, hate trains, hate the Taunton to Temple Meads line, hate the Temple Meads to Portsmouth Harbour line.

I usually get the train - Bristol to Southampton - the 9:23am one, if my flight is a little late i get the 10:23am one. Will be on one of them this saturday for the leeds game - usually fly dublin to bristol (hell of a lot cheaper that dublin southampton)

Ah, bmibaby v flybe. Similarly it's always cheaper for me to get a train to Cardiff from Southampton and fly bmibaby to Malaga than it is to fly from Southampton to Malaga even if I get the flybe flights the second they're released.

Dublin to Bournemouth (ryanair) is generally much cheaper, and closer to southampton. €10 each way last time I did it, which was a week ago.

I'm now based in Street, Somerset (having emigrated from Yorkshire and starting life in Lymington) - go to about 1/2 the home games and 1/4-1/3 of away games and drive myself and my son. Happy to offer the spare seats in my car to anyone in return for a pie and a pint (maybe a kit-kat and coke for the lad ;-) Can't promise it'll be every week but happy to give my email address to anyone who wants to PM me

Unfortunately, they have f**ked around with flight times and days with Bournemouth - I used to be able to do day trips flying back on an 8pm flight from there - now they don't even fly on a satruday at anytime......

Bristol / Gatwick with ryanair are the only realistic alternatives to flybe - as handy as it is to fly to Southampton, i'd rather save over £100. My flights for the Leeds game to Bristol return cost €20 (inc credit card fee's) and the train, again return booked in advance, £11 - the cheapest I have ever got flybe return to southampton was €108 - currently its €140, so for the sake of a 1hr 40 min train journey, I have an extra £100 to play around with.... (basically I can get to St Marys 3 times for the price of one return flybe flight)

The 10.23 one (10.36 at Baaaath).

Well, if your travelling alone, I might wait and get the 10:23 - a bit of company and a little pre-match chat on how we are going to rip leeds appart?
