Saint_Jonny Posted 16 September, 2009 Posted 16 September, 2009 Scored the Winner for Blackpool against Newcastle tonight, having a fantastic season for them this season, scored a few goals. Cant help thinking he'd have been an absolute diamond for us this season had we bothered to hold on to him. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/8244177.stm
RedAndWhite91 Posted 16 September, 2009 Posted 16 September, 2009 Two ex-Saints scoring in the Championship against Newcastle. Hmm.
Colinjb Posted 16 September, 2009 Posted 16 September, 2009 Never mind that, had he been managed properly in the first place he would have been a diamond for us. Oh well, what might have been.
Legod Third Coming Posted 16 September, 2009 Posted 16 September, 2009 I always rated that Ormerod fella... now, where is Gemmel...
saint_stevo Posted 16 September, 2009 Posted 16 September, 2009 At HT in the Newcastle match i text my toon mate- "Ormerod has scored past your boys, oh dear, if Euell scores as well i will laugh in your face" He is not happy with me......
Smirking_Saint Posted 16 September, 2009 Posted 16 September, 2009 I said that i thought Euell could do a job this year, but with the purchase of Lambert, i know who i am happier with, they wouldn't have worked together so, there we go. Oh how we could do with an ormerod now mind you
Ponty Posted 16 September, 2009 Posted 16 September, 2009 Christ, slated as awful whilst here and raised to Demigod status now he's left. This is the way with any ex SFC player who happens to knock one in off his arse for his new club.

Crowds Posted 16 September, 2009 Posted 16 September, 2009 is it just me who doesnt give a ****. move the hell on people ffs. i'd rather read no news on this site, than news about old news that we could do nothing about. Hes gone cya later **** sake.

This is the way with any ex SFC player who happens to knock one in off his arse for his new club. Here, Here we slate our players constantly when they are here and then when they leave they turn into footballing gods.I bet this would even happen to Pulis if he left.
St Landrew Posted 16 September, 2009 Posted 16 September, 2009 What if. You can't keep on with that kind of mindset. Let it go.
Saint Samuel Posted 16 September, 2009 Posted 16 September, 2009 I thought Euell was great in the second half of last season, all of a sudden he started playing with passion and commitment, arguably our best outfield performer last season. Shame we couldn't hold onto him after going into administration, wonder how much he is on at Blackpool.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 16 September, 2009 Posted 16 September, 2009 He had a right old moan in 42 about saints. Saying it was terrible not being paid and that it was a worrying time for the players. His 5k per week before we were in admin didn't supply enough of a buffer for Jason...
Neilza Posted 16 September, 2009 Posted 16 September, 2009 Well I don't know how many games you've seen him play this year but a cardiff supporting mate saw him when Blackpool played Cardiff ad he said Euell was the worst player on the pitch. Did nothing all game.
chrisobee Posted 16 September, 2009 Posted 16 September, 2009 Here, Here we slate our players constantly when they are here and then when they leave they turn into footballing gods.I bet this would even happen to Pulis if he left. Now that's just being plain silly, who is going to buy him
chrisobee Posted 16 September, 2009 Posted 16 September, 2009 Well I don't know how many games you've seen him play this year but a cardiff supporting mate saw him when Blackpool played Cardiff ad he said Euell was the worst player on the pitch. Did nothing all game. I prefer to judge based on what I've seen rather than the view of the press, a friend, a friend of a friend etc; Only seen snippets of Blackpool/Euell so can't judge him there but I can say I thought he was a decent player for us, just my opinion but one I voiced a number of times on here TBH. Now he's at Blackpool good luck to him I say.
Gemmel Posted 16 September, 2009 Posted 16 September, 2009 (edited) I always rated that Ormerod fella... now, where is Gemmel... Ha ha ....legod SECOND coming (And don't even start about your brother etc etc.) ( You've just done a 19c) One goal means....chaff all, still a shocking player and he is still not good enough for my sons team Edited 16 September, 2009 by Gemmel

This was pre-takeover.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 16 September, 2009 Posted 16 September, 2009 Here, Here we slate our players constantly when they are here and then when they leave they turn into footballing gods.I bet this would even happen to Pulis if he left. Chance would be a very fine thing...
Arizona Posted 17 September, 2009 Posted 17 September, 2009 I mean this in the nicest possible way, but Euell is a load of donkey gash. He was a night out in Ipswich away from not scoring throughout the whole of last season and his build up play didn't exactly give me a boner. If he scored against Newcastle then good for him, but didn't a couple of part time welders score for Havant against Liverpool a couple of years ago. Hardly proving us wrong is it.

His 5k per week before we were in admin didn't supply enough of a buffer for Jason... I'm guessing you mean 442. I'm which he didn't moan, he just said it's was difficult not being paid. Which I think any employee is entitled to feel?? Back to the point he was on the whole a semi decent player who has gone now. Good luck but we move on
hypochondriac Posted 17 September, 2009 Posted 17 September, 2009 I'm glad he's gone. Terrible terrible player for us who I was continually frustrated with every week.
hypochondriac Posted 17 September, 2009 Posted 17 September, 2009 We leave a good team in every division we leave, does that not say something about the way Saints have been managed over the last six or so years! No because Jason is an awful player.
Thedelldays Posted 17 September, 2009 Posted 17 September, 2009 (edited) I remember championing holloway..and got royally laughed at by the "experts" on here.. he is s very decent manager..luggy (that old cart horse) on the other hand...LOL Edited 17 September, 2009 by Thedelldays

Unless we now include pre-season friendlies now in the stats. He was, is and will remain, toilet.
krissyboy31 Posted 17 September, 2009 Posted 17 September, 2009 Massive waste of dwindling resources.
Rebel Posted 17 September, 2009 Posted 17 September, 2009 we couldn't really afford his wages when we signed him on a free - so we definately couldn't afford him or his wages before the takeover despite the occassional flash of talent he was never really that good for us - and was overpaid on the basis of what he gave us on the pitch week in week out and I dont think he really wanted to play for SFC or in League 1 - he was only ever here for the money much like Stern John really! over the season I can't see him being a great success at Blackpool - but for their sake lets hope he scores a few goals for them I wish we'd given younger players like Ranger, Baseya, Best, Blackstock and McGoldrick more of a chance instead of spending money we didn't have on players like Stern John and Jason Euell apart from all that its time to move on - and overall we are better off without him
david in sweden Posted 17 September, 2009 Posted 17 September, 2009 Scored the Winner for Blackpool against Newcastle tonight, having a fantastic season for them this season, scored a few goals. Cant help thinking he'd have been an absolute diamond for us this season had we bothered to hold on to him. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/8244177.stm I don't expect Euell (or Ormerod) to feature in the top 10 scorers in CCC, and I think most people might agree with that. If you have (bought / acquired ) someone, you have to play him, and the law of averages says that they will score SOMETIME during the season, but I don't expect a goal rush from Blackpool either. Newcastle are a better side than most - just a bad day at the office.
BotleySaint Posted 17 September, 2009 Posted 17 September, 2009 I thought Euell wanted to leave? Last year he wasted so many chances... every now and then one is bound to fly in by law of averages.
brightspark Posted 17 September, 2009 Posted 17 September, 2009 I thought Euell wanted to leave? Last year he wasted so many chances... every now and then one is bound to fly in by law of averages. It's two things: 1) players depreciate in ability when playing for Saints 2) a Saints shirt represents bad luck ie - he was never going to score many goals for us...
sadoldgit Posted 17 September, 2009 Posted 17 September, 2009 It never fails to amaze me. Players get slated when they are here, but go elsewere and score a goal and all of a sudden we should never have let them go???

Arizona Posted 17 September, 2009 Posted 17 September, 2009 It never fails to amaze me. Players get slated when they are here, but go elsewere and score a goal and all of a sudden we should never have let them go??? No When he was at Saints there were plenty who rated Euell and plenty who didn't. Likewise when he left some wish he'd stayed and some were glad to see the back of him. I doubt there is any one person who slated Euell and now wishes we'd kept him.
Super_Uwe Posted 17 September, 2009 Posted 17 September, 2009 I don't think he ever covered himself in glory at Saints, but again part of that IMHO was down to him playing almost as a holding midfielder when he first joined. He made his name as a striker and then played a bit deeper when at Charlton. But somehow we ended up plonking him in the middle of the park trying to get him to sit in there. God knows why. But anyway, by that stage the damage had been done as his performances were pretty cack. Again IMHO if you start off crap you need to do something pretty amazing to change people's views. Good luck to him though; it wouldn't surprise me one bit if Olly manages to get things going at Blackpool.

Jason Euell had lost any pretension to centre forward status long before he arrived at SFC , the lack of any real pace or reliable finishing ability generally being considered a handicap in a striker . An OK (in the main) but massively overpaid centre midfielder sums him up nicely . Edited 18 September, 2009 by CHAPEL END CHARLIE
saint_bert Posted 18 September, 2009 Posted 18 September, 2009 Difficult not being paid FFS!!!! £200k annual signing on fee plus £8000 a week. They were paid within the month but he must have been struggling. Not the point. He done a job, so is entitled to be payed by his employer. Maybe he was a bit tacless in his choice of words but it's the princaple of the matter in his opinion i assume. Anyway I was setting the record straight after Tokyo-saint had said he moane about SFC when actually he said nothing of the sorts.
Stu Man Do Posted 19 September, 2009 Posted 19 September, 2009 He had a right old moan in 42 about saints. Saying it was terrible not being paid and that it was a worrying time for the players. To be fair to the guy he was one of the few along with Kelvin Davis who actually agreed to defer their wages whilst we were in administration.
