saint_stevo Posted 16 September, 2009 Share Posted 16 September, 2009 Try Google Chrome, it's a bit different but easy enough. Much quicker than IE as well. Install a few and see which you prefer. Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome and Opera are the most popular.
Baj Posted 16 September, 2009 Share Posted 16 September, 2009 Agree, if you want to keep the simples of IE, go for chrome.
hypochondriac Posted 16 September, 2009 Share Posted 16 September, 2009 Firefox is my favourite but definitely upgrade from ie6. You can get some really nasty viruses using that.

Baj Posted 16 September, 2009 Share Posted 16 September, 2009 The thing I dont like about firefox is its memory footprint. If I have it running all day itll easily take up over a gb of ram
Smirking_Saint Posted 16 September, 2009 Share Posted 16 September, 2009 The thing I dont like about firefox is its memory footprint. If I have it running all day itll easily take up over a gb of ram yeah, can agree with that, although i don't tend to have it running with much else in the background so it does not bother me massively. I know IE uses a lot less but i just don't like it, it's all preference really.

stevegrant Posted 17 September, 2009 Share Posted 17 September, 2009 Firefox is my browser of choice, but as Baj said above, it absolutely canes the memory after a while, particularly if you run a number of add-ons. Oh, and IE6 is evil and should be destroyed.

Baj Posted 17 September, 2009 Share Posted 17 September, 2009 I read somewhere that IE6 is still the most used browser...... Its a close call, the split is basically in 3rd, where 10% is taken up by other browsers, then roughtly 30% FF, 30% IE6, 30% IE7
stevegrant Posted 17 September, 2009 Share Posted 17 September, 2009 I read somewhere that IE6 is still the most used browser...... Wouldn't surprise me - IIRC it's the browser that was shipped with XP, and most people just won't bother upgrading.

Smirking_Saint Posted 17 September, 2009 Share Posted 17 September, 2009 I actually didn't mind IE6 too much, then it went to IE7 and just ****ed me off, luckily i had started looking at other browsers at the time and decided that FF was the way forward for me, i have never used opera or safari though.
