Saint_Jonny Posted 15 September, 2009 Posted 15 September, 2009 I know its a long way off but how many of you lot are making the trip? Its only a short trip for me now so ive just bought my ticket Hope to see loads of you up here!
ladysaint Posted 15 September, 2009 Posted 15 September, 2009 I have a few spaces available on minibus to Oldham if anyone interested let me know.
JRM Posted 15 September, 2009 Posted 15 September, 2009 it should be a great laugh on the train up from London with ****ney reds (Man United at home to Bolton), West Ham going to Stoke, and Millwall going to Stockport. Perhaps we could arrange to have a quiz for us all to pass the time on the journey?

oldsarum Posted 15 September, 2009 Posted 15 September, 2009 Think London Saints booked on 9am from Euston get to Manchester 11.10 so hopefully too early for Millwall and West Ham, but might be fun on way back !

There will also be Chelsea around Euston going to Villa for an early kick off so another opportunity to make friends on the day out
This Charming Man Posted 15 September, 2009 Posted 15 September, 2009 The main problem if all of them are on our train is that it's more than likely BTP will make it a 'dry train' - no booze allowed. Seems to be pretty common this season when London clubs play up north. Smuggling vodka on could be the way forward.
Michelle Posted 15 September, 2009 Posted 15 September, 2009 I is going, spending a few days up there to see some family.
oldsarum Posted 16 September, 2009 Posted 16 September, 2009 One thing to note for anyone going by train is there are no trains from Manchester to Oldham as works commence on a new tramline to serve Oldham and Rochdale. London Saints have already booked up transport from Manchester to Oldham for before and after the game rather than use the replacement buses that are available. see link http://www.gmpte.com/
bungle Posted 16 September, 2009 Posted 16 September, 2009 What transport are you planning to use between Manchester and Oldham??!
oldsarum Posted 16 September, 2009 Posted 16 September, 2009 What transport are you planning to use between Manchester and Oldham??! This is being organised by our Chairman Mick Strickland who sorts out all our travel. If you look at contacts on London Saints web it will give you his details but you'd need to phone him at home at moment or e-mail him, or email me (I'm ticket co-ordinator) and I'll give you his home email address. http://www.londonsaints.com/moxie/19/lssc-contacts.shtml
AndyNorthernSaints Posted 16 September, 2009 Posted 16 September, 2009 What transport are you planning to use between Manchester and Oldham??! Get the bus from Oldham Street just off Piccadilly. Bus goes past ground. Alot closer than train station btw. Bring a coat.
Saint_Jonny Posted 16 September, 2009 Author Posted 16 September, 2009 My ticket came in the post today Only ordered it yesterday, gotta love the online ordering service! 250 miles away but only a click away from SFC.
Genk Posted 20 September, 2009 Posted 20 September, 2009 Thinking of going to this one now. Any idea on times and prices for travel coach and same for trains??
Genk Posted 5 October, 2009 Posted 5 October, 2009 Seeing as I cant seem to get a train from Soton to Oldham, looks like its going to be a long old trip on the saints coaches. £24 is a good price.
RonManager Posted 5 October, 2009 Posted 5 October, 2009 (edited) There is no direct train service from Manchester to Oldham as the Oldham Rail Loop is shut from October 4th -2011 as it's being converted into the Metrolink System. An intensive bus timetable operates from Central Manchester, journey time 30-45 minutes to central Oldham. Services 181 and 182 pass by the ground. http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service_disruptions/additional_info/OldhamLoop.html From this page you can download the bus info as PDFs. Arizona Posted 7 October, 2009 Posted 7 October, 2009 Will try and make this one. Probably be driving.
South City Si Posted 10 October, 2009 Posted 10 October, 2009 Should be good weekend, staying up in Manchester for the night so will go out on the p1ss after game to clelebrate mate's birthday (and hopefully celebrate 3 more points!).
Genk Posted 10 October, 2009 Posted 10 October, 2009 Going up on the travel coach for a change. Any idea how long before kickoff it arrives at the ground? an hour?
ogre_saints Posted 12 October, 2009 Posted 12 October, 2009 will be able to buy tickets at the stadium???? somebody answer, please
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 12 October, 2009 Posted 12 October, 2009 The minimum allocation for away fans is 1600. If we have sold 1000 and don't request any more that leaves 600 available on the day. That took me about 45 seconds to find out on the Oldham site.
stevegrant Posted 12 October, 2009 Posted 12 October, 2009 The Old Grey Mare and the White Hart have been suggested as away-friendly pubs near the ground, both on Rochdale Road.
maxi_sopez Posted 12 October, 2009 Posted 12 October, 2009 I am tempted to come over from Leeds if i can convince my housemate to come aswell...the one thing that is really putting me off is this whole bus thing, no train station how annoying! Anyone else going from Leeds ?

I'm getting the train to Manchester Piccadilly from Taunton, (arrive 1200, return 6.27pm). I've researched all the replacement bus times (see my post above) but this would be so much better!! ps I've tried your link above but seems to be broken. Sorted now. Have contacted Mick. Michelle Posted 12 October, 2009 Posted 12 October, 2009 Emailed the ticket office. 450 sold so far Surely not... for a ground people may not have been to at all, or for quite a while, that's cack. Where are ya people? Or as Delia might say "Let's be 'avin' yoooouuu..."
Iowsaintsfan Posted 13 October, 2009 Posted 13 October, 2009 Im going for my birthday treat to myself
saintchrissy Posted 13 October, 2009 Posted 13 October, 2009 New ground for me, picking up eldest son from end of summer contract in Shrewsbury, on the way up, with all his junk and the obligatory bucket to catch last nights dinner etc (this will be his first away football match) Youngest son and me still trying to convert him to football from mountain climbing - not much success but we keep going, however, saints are the team he supports just needs to be more enthusiatic.

Anyone else going from Leeds ? Should be coming from Lincoln (assuming we don't sell out and I can buy a ticket on the day) and Leeds is on the way. If you can get to somewhere like Castleford or Morley on the M62, you might be in luck.
Saint_Jonny Posted 16 October, 2009 Author Posted 16 October, 2009 anyone got any idea about parking for tomorrows game??
Michelle Posted 16 October, 2009 Posted 16 October, 2009 450 tickets sold? That is rubbish. 750 now apparently. Well, yesterday.
Andy_Porter Posted 16 October, 2009 Posted 16 October, 2009 750 is still pretty ****, I guess everyone's saving their money for Orient next month.
alehouseboys Posted 16 October, 2009 Posted 16 October, 2009 750 is still pretty ****, I guess everyone's saving their money for Orient next month. A day or so before Carlisle away it was said we'd sold 700, we had a shade under 1,000 up there. Buying tickets on-the-day is gonna be a regular occurrence at many of our away games this season, I'd suggest there'll be 1,000+ tomorrow.
stockportsaint Posted 16 October, 2009 Posted 16 October, 2009 Bring two !!! And a woolly hat, gloves and scarf. And wear 2 pairs of socks. Old Olham boss Joe Royle called it Ice Station Zebra as he reckoned it had its own special climate.

Doesn't this prevent them from getting it logged with the Saints ticket office that they've been to various away games, therefore potentially preventing them from getting tickets for future away games where demand may exceed supply?

Doesn't this prevent them from getting it logged with the Saints ticket office that they've been to various away games, therefore potentially preventing them from getting tickets for future away games where demand may exceed supply? You're right of course and you usually end up paying a lot more for a ticket on-the-day but nature of the beast I guess. In the 40-odd years I've been following this club I've lost count of the number of times the decision to 'go away' by some was made in the pub the night before!
