we are not on par with yeovil..(who have an average attendace of around 5k)

Agree but its not only about ability its about application, hopefully the new additions will turn us into that winning side, although I also agree, to a degree, with Micky and Nineteen in respect of the big club mentality, however, you have to have belief but that should not manifest itself in being disrespectful to other clubs in our division.

I'm more HOPEFUL of a win rather than expecting it this weekend.

Sorry to sound pessimistic but the years of supporting Saints have taken their toll on me. However I do feel slightly more optimistic with recent acquisitions and results.

COYR's.......please, please let's get our season up and running at last!

I'm expecting us to dominate the game - pretty standard for any home game if I'm honest - but that doesn't mean I expect a win. This side clearly has enough talent to beat anyone but we have to go out there and do it.

Its all very well AP sayign we are almost there and the side is coming together, but football tends to kick you in the teeth and a loss when the side is on the turn (for the better) is going to knock another load of stuffing out of us.

Saturday offers no opportunity for excuses. I hope we don't lose a player to a sending off or suchlike and can go out and show to the fans what the side is all about. Looking forward to it as always

I think this is the key point of your post TBH. Why should we not expect a win? Let's face it, AP has had enough time with the squad (even Jaidi) now not to be able to use the 'gel theory'. You might expect most of this team to compete in the CCC surely, so why not run all over lowly Yeovil? This Saturday the excuses must stop - I fully expect a win and I see no reason why I should not do so. In fact, I urge ALL Saints fans at the game to expect a win and support the team with that in mind - perhaps a strong positive vibe might have an effect, who knows???

are we, could yeovil snap up the leagues top scorer and immediately double his wages..? the cost of lambert is almost as much as the next 3 top league 1 transfers put together...could yeovl sign waigo, jaidi, harding..could yeovil sign hammond..? No, they will probably be lucky to spend the money we have so far this season over the next 5 years at least..

so NO, we are not on par with yeovil..(who have an average attendace of around 5k)

In terms of results and league status Yeovil Town are on par with us - if you check, you'll actually find that they are better off than us.

If you want to measure parity by ground capacity, how many fans turn up and how much money the owner has - then we are streets ahead. But guess what - non of those things gets you any points.

Yep, we spent 1 million pounds on Ricky Lambert - Yeovil will probably never be able to afford such luxury - but currently their league status is better than ours, so they probably don't care.

At the end of the season, we can have a nice shiny stadium, billionairre owner, superstars galore - but if we don't have the points on the board it will mean nothing.

We are on par with lots of little teams - it may hurt, but get used to it.

Those of us who are old enough to remember Jan Tomaszevski will always redoubt that sort of statement. He was a stand in as well, labelled "a clown" by

Brian Clough he stopped everything from Channon,Chivers and Clark and cost England a place in the world cup finals.

But McCarthy is a good goalkeeper ( on loan from Reading) and losing him is a definite blow. Davis or Bart? No contest is it.

that there ladies and gents...is the mentality that hold us back..why we are sooooo bloody average....(or part of the reason why)..

if this mentality exists in the fans then gawd help us

It's not holding us back, it is the reality of the situation - it is where we are today.

Accept it and use it to spur you on to greater things, but don't think that just because we used to be a big team we still are, you are decieving nobody but yourself.

Dream of what used to be - or accept the situation, work hard, respect your competition and start to get back to the top.

Nothing wrong with that mentality as far as I can see.

Yes I do - because I do not think that we will get promoted this season, I see us finishing mid table(ish). So either way, we will not be too far away from Yeovil come the end, (although I believe we will be above them).

But it does not alter the fact that at this moment in time - we are on par with them in regards to our league status. You might argue the fact that we should (or have) much bigger ambitions than them, and I would agree with you. But none of those ambitions have been realised, and until they are nothing will change.

My mentality does not come into it, reality of the situation does - check out the league table and it will give you all the reality you need right now.
