Baj Posted 14 September, 2009 Share Posted 14 September, 2009 why? we are not getting paid to play Because, to be blunt mate, its a **** job. Doesnt matter how 'friendly' it appears to be, being called a **** or a **** every 5 minutes is no fun. I've stoppe refing IFC games (sorry granty) for that reason, I just cant be arsed with arguing my decisions with my mates.

chrisobee Posted 14 September, 2009 Share Posted 14 September, 2009 Refeering a game is great fun when you do it is a favour (as I did for BAT some years ago in the Sunday League) and all I needed to say to both teams pre match was start abusing me and game over ! Fair to say though I did it a few times with no problems and even a bit of good natured micky taking !

I did thoroughly enjoy it though the power to just walk off ( I wasn't qualified or anything) meant of course the players knew any problems and I'd take my ball and go home

Wiltshire Saint Posted 14 September, 2009 Share Posted 14 September, 2009 I don't mind doing it. As you know I know what I'm doing! I'm not sure I can d it for free though. If you can cover my expenses I am happy to share my skills. Driving to and from Wiltshire will probably cost about £110. Let me know. I may be able to get a couple of assistants as well (£30 each)

Sev Posted 16 September, 2009 Share Posted 16 September, 2009 I wouldnt ref a game for free, its hell. x2 It's hard enough in the lowest leagues to get a ref when you are paying them, and the players have the deterrent of fines and suspensions. I'd be shocked if you can get a ref for a friendly for free unless they already owe you a favour.

Rather than asking a group of people that meetup for a social kick about if they wana make a team for a one off? If you were to be us 10-0... it would have been a bit of a pointless work out for your team, no?
