hypochondriac Posted 25 January, 2010 Share Posted 25 January, 2010 Indeed. It is a fortnight to the Superbowl. Defensive players can still hit the QB if their momentum is taking them towards him when the qb releases the ball, although you are supposed not to hit so aggressively if you know the ball has gone. Although clearly they are just running into him half the time to take him out. Makes it a bit of a pointless game if you can just go around injuring the person who is any good. Can you get sent off or something? Or penalty touchdown or something?
bungle Posted 25 January, 2010 Share Posted 25 January, 2010 It's all part of getting pressure on the quarterback. It's a man's game, not a big sissies game. The Vikings offensive line should just try blocking. p.s. this better be a Touchdown!

Then why not just pack your team with the biggest blokes you can find and injure the opposition quarterback every game? Hate the stop start nature of it as well and all the commercial breaks. Makes it hard to get excited. I imagine it would be slightly better if you were actually at a game.

Hate the stop start nature of it as well and all the commercial breaks. Makes it hard to get excited. I imagine it would be slightly better if you were actually at a game. Because the very large men aren't quick enough to get to the quarterback. And if you just had large people then you'd just get quick wide receivers and throw the ball past them and they couldn't react. As for stop-start, the game doesn't flow. It isn't supposed to, it's highly tactical. And the commercials, well that is just the US, sadly.

If they both get another touchdown now, would one of them ever go for the extra point to try to win the game or would they want to tie to take it to overtime? Edit: http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/09000d5d815f23c1/Saints-31-Vikings-28 The highlights of the game with local radio calls. I used to listen to Jim and Hokie every week before we got decent tv coverage. The call of Brian Milne's fumble recovery from Hakim in 2000 was good enough, but this guys voice when Hartley kicks the field goal is unbelieveable. Rut Posted 1 February, 2010 Share Posted 1 February, 2010 I actually quite enjoyed the Pro-Bowl last night. I think it is way better having it before the Superbowl. It gave them something to talk about and there were some great interviews with Manning & Brees. Quite funny seeing them sat next to each other all polite and wishing each other luck etc. Both are eloquent and come across as very knowledgeable. They give way more than 'the team with the least amount of turnovers will win' type of answers. It did help that I backed 'overs' (spread was 57.5 points). This got passed in the 3rd quarter. Was great just wanting both teams to score a load - and they did. There were even some Broncos on the pitch. Brando Marshall's last game in Bronco's colours? We'll see... Man - there were some right ol' 2 & 8's in some of those videos George. Which geezer in a dress are you? Good to see that they let people drink on the streets there. Is that always the case? I like the variation by some bloke - 'Who dat say we're gonna f*ck up the Colts'. Where are you watching the game? Are many traveling to Miami without tickets just to be part of it? In a couple of years the SB is in Indy - if the Saints make it there again then you'll have to come up here and we'll sort out a good pìss up. This assumes they ain't playing the Broncos - if that is the case then you can f**** off!!! Really looking forward to the game on Sunday. krissyboy31 Posted 3 February, 2010 Share Posted 3 February, 2010 (edited) Been reporting on the preparation of the pitch on SSN today. Got a guy from the Wembley ground-staff helping and fact finding over there. James Haddock asked who "the guy from England" would be supporting. He said "we had the Saints at Wembley last year and I'm from Southampton anyway and a Saints fan, so Saints to win!" Edit: The guy is called Karl Standley.
