Rut Posted 12 October, 2009 Share Posted 12 October, 2009 Broncos march on to 5-0. I presume they still haven't beaten anyone good yet though? ha ha - yesterday was a classic win. If you wanna see how to win in overtime then watch how the Broncos did it yesterday. Win the toss - keep the ball for a few plays - hit the field goal. All made to look very easy. It was. Was great to see McDaniels going mental at the end. I think it is safe to say that beating New England meant a lot to him! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHdi2Mt-CQw shows a small part of it. Good stuff. Still on for a Broncos v Saints superbowl...
Rut Posted 19 October, 2009 Share Posted 19 October, 2009 OK - I'm getting worried. Saints looked excellent yesterday. Now a best priced 11/2 (4/1 in places!!!) to win the Superbowl. Chris Larkin Posted 20 October, 2009 Share Posted 20 October, 2009 My Seahawks are still wildly inconsistent. A 2-4 record, but in the games we've won, 59 points scored and 0 conceded. If I had to bet on the NFC West, I'd say the 49ers are going to win the divison by quite some way. There's always next year... I'd be frankly delighted to see New Orleans in the Superbowl, they are by far the oldest franchise never to have reached the final game, and Drew Brees is both likeable and a quite wonderful player. Rut Posted 20 October, 2009 Share Posted 20 October, 2009 Broncos turned in another great performance tonight. Not quite as impressive as the Saints but they took all San Diego could throw at them and chucked it back. A very tense game but it's 6-0 :-) Chargers could def be there come AFC wildcard time. They were no mugs. No chance in the AFC West though - that is the Broncos. Great press conference from McDaniels afterwards. 'we are still learning and have a lot to sort out' - 6-0 is a great place to start from then!

Aye....to many years like this ) and this ) Saints have entered a new era now though, The Benson's, (owners) and the front office under Mickey Loomis have turned this whole Organization on it's head. It started when they hired Coach Sean Payton in 2006 following our nightmare 3-13 season after playing every game on the road and then had faith that Drew would recover from his career threatening shoulder injury that saw the Chargers let him go......The rest is falling into place just nice ......So here's hoping ) Geaux Saints!!! Still, I suppose playing badly and winning is the sign of a good team. Talking about good teams, the Donks certainly aren't one. Think their season is over now. NFC East looks the most intriguing division in football right now, IMO. The Cowboys, Giants and Eagles all have the potential to go all the way, but none of them can find any consistency. Throat hurts, head hurts, everything hurts after 3 hours of total frenzy.....there aint no place like the Superdome! Highlight of the Game.....Pats walking off at the end, to thunderous chants of "Who dat say dey gunna beat dem Saints!!!!"......Not the the Pat's thats for sure Quote of the game .....Bill Belichick on the Saints....."They did what they do" What the Press are saying..... "The Saints have known this for weeks. On Monday night, they demonstrated it in front of a national TV audience and a frenzied crowd in a Superdome that got so loud at times you swore the roof was about to explode." http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/article/2009-12-01/saints-have-it-all-perfect-blend-offense-defense New Orleans skunked the Patriots 38-17 Monday night, breaking their defense and then their offense and finally their will to win. Giants..... "I almost wana join them LMAO.............j/k lol have been a Giants fan since 84 but I'm sure relishing watching greatness" "the Saints are a ridiculous football team right now. I see fire. one day we will see that very fire in our Giants again" "I am witnessing perhaps the most complete football team I've ever seen. Not all super athletes, but all clicking on all cylinders and playing for each other. A team. A great coaching staff. I'm gonna go cry a while" "I don't know what else to say about this team. They are playing on another planet right now. I knew in the begining of the season that their offence was scary good but not to this magnitude. It's like they are just playing on such a level that the opposing team don't even belong on the same field as them. Drew Brees is tremendous. The playcalling is tremendous. I only could wish that the Giants coaches were that great and creative" "Another thing Saints have helping their intensity is that dome. I was at Giant game there 10/18 and I never heard a crowd so loud..NEVER. It actually hurt. I see no way that anybody...ELI...BRADY...FARVE... could perform at their best in those conditions. By the end of the game I was just applauding the fans. I realize it takes a great team to get the fans into the frenzie, but once there, that noise was incredible. If they maintain home field, I can't see any opponent winning there this year. It just too disruptive." Eagles..... "WOW" "I'm a little stunned". Out of interest - how many Patriots fans were there on Monday? The Falcons and Cowboys Generally bring more.....At a guess I'd say around 1000 Pats fans here on Monday.....As the number of away fans tends to get totally lost in a 70,000 crowd, the best way to tell is to see how many are down Bourbon Street the night before A tast of Post game's, N'alins style, WHO DAT! One game away from winning our division and just about 2 'real' games away from going to the Super Bowl for the first time in our history...Not to mention we're winning games by scoring a record breaking average of near 40 points a game and our 'Defense' is scoring more than some teams 'Offense'.......Just when the hell can i shout about it? BTW thanks WinnerSaint....But 'who dat' is fair bit deeper than the quote on Wikipidia, about it coming from a minstrel song, Yes it apparently did...But it's also grown very much from the 'Southern Culture' around here.....and has even more meaning since Katrina especially the phrase "Who Dat Nation"...That stems from the ten's of thousands of New Orleanians and others on the Gulf South, who were forced to move to the four corners of the Country after their homes and neighborhoods were wiped out by Katrina and Rita, many of who, have still not been able to return.....But where ever they may be, they'll always be in the WHO DAT Nation......especialy on the days the Saints play. Born In The 80s Posted 9 December, 2009 Share Posted 9 December, 2009 I didn't know there was an NFL thread! Great stuff. Firstly, Saint George, you can't say your win in Washington was anything other than pure luck. Firstly with the Skins kicker missing that chip shot, which i believe he has lost his job over. And then in over time that turnover was a pathetic call by the referees! It makes me wonder if the NFL really badly want two undefeated teams to go through regular season and eventually meet in the super bowl. Cynical view, but one which a lot of fans are starting to believe... Having said that, there is no doubt the Saints are number 1 in the NFL right now and definately the team to beat after my vikes folded on SNF to the impressive cardinals. However, i'm just wondering if the Saints may have used up all their luck already this season. It is going to be a very very interesting last few weeks of regular season. But the game i want to see is Vikings/Saints in the NFC championship. If both teams turn up, i reckon that could be better an unbelievable match up. But a hell of a long way to go yet! Guns? Beer? - I'll be round in 5 minutes buddy. I think both the AFC & NFC are wide open. I think that Saints prob will make it to the Superbowl but it won't be a cruise. As for the Broncos? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCzBtxoBdQY&feature=related "All we are doing is trying to win a mother f**** game" I do love the 'sincere apology' that the commentators give on this clip - funny. They just can't abide anything that differs to the way 'they' perceive things 'should' be and go about attacking anything they don't understand ...Words and attitude right out of the old German National Socialist party's handbook.....Oh the irony lol And argument?....what argument?....Last time i checked, we were having a NFL discussion...Did you just come here to start an argument?.....You don't seem to be too interest in the NFL...Some would call that Trolling y'know....Now go away...There's a anti American thread in the 'longe' just perfect for you. Any way back to the Football.... LOL, love that audible from Coach McDaniels..that's passion there, that's for sure As for the NFC side of the Superbowl...If the Saints can secure Home field advantage for the whole playoff run I can't see anyone beating them....There's no way that team is going to lose in the Superdome this year .....If however, we end up having to travel for the NFC Championship Game, then I can see both the Minnesota Favre's (sorry ) and more so, the Cardinals giving us a tough game....TBH at the moment i don't see any AFC team including the Colts beating any of the above NFC teams...been a while since i've been able to say that As for luck....Like i said above the Saints are making their own luck this year The Redskins weren't able to put us away, despite having our number for most of the game....They missed the field goal because their kicker was a choker...he's missed 2 kicks this year, both of them were pressure kicks to seal a game...and that got him fired Saints managed to hang within striking distance for the whole game there's an absolute belief in the team and the fans that we own the 4th quarter...This season we've outscored oponets by 122-27...heh even the pre season buzz words were "Finish" and "Finish Strong" I don't know anyone who did 'not' believe we would still win with 2 mins left on the clock...That's honestly the first time in my life I've ever had such unwavering belief in a Sports team that was so close to a loss.....heh, when the Fox commentator said before 'that' kick..... "Well at least there's still 'ONE' undefeated team in the NFL" ...I was screaming at the TV...bull****!....There's still 2 mins left in the game! Any sane person who reads the absolute nonsense you have written on this thread will agree with me. Such as what? He lives in New Orleans and has a season ticket at the Superdome. The whole city is 'who dat this' and 'who dat that' - it's the way it is down there. Watching the games & seeing the videos you can't help but feel the passion the city is giving the team. It's the most moving support I've seen for a long time (not just for a NFL team but any sporting team, world wide). You have to remember that they've always historically been seen as a very bad team. Suddenly are they the best around. 5,000 (and growing each game) people turn up in the middle of the night at the airport to welcome the team home after every away game. After all the shít the city went through after Hurricane Katrina they suddenly they have something good to get behind. I definitely want them to win the NFC - and as long as it ain't the Broncos - then for them to win the SB. You think George (and the rest of New Orleans) is excited now - wait til that happens. It'll be the party to end all parties down there... As I said before - I'm currently just plain 100% jealous.
Born In The 80s Posted 9 December, 2009 Share Posted 9 December, 2009 Oh my good lord. I just found this thread because frankly I have little interest in American 'football' but I thought I'd give it a chance. If it's ANYTHING like Saint George describes then I'm glad I gave it a wide berth. America is welcome to you. Mods can we have George infracted for crimes against the English language? 'realize'? FFS. No doubt I will get it both barrels now before being described predictably as a 'liberal' (which in Saint George world is anything left of Hitler.) and in a way I will have won the argument because George will have totally missed the point. You are everything which I hate about America George. Any sane person who reads the absolute nonsense you have written on this thread will agree with me. Apologies to bungle and the others who have made good contributions about their NFL team. Yawn yawn ****ing yawn. Go away please. You have proved what a complete muppet you are just in one post. P.S. George - Don't go calling the vikes the Minnesota Farve's just yet buddy. Adrian might not be getting the breaks at the minute, but WHEN he does (and i am hoping that'll be around January time) the Saints, Packers, Cards or whover else the vikes are gunna be facing in post season better watch out! Quite frankly, i'm drooling at the prospect of a saints/vikings NFC championship game...
Lazlo78 Posted 10 December, 2009 Share Posted 10 December, 2009 I've been following NFL with some interest for 5-6 years though I haven't really found "my team" yet... I seem to care more about Miami Dolphins' results than the other teams and I am fascinated by their Wildcat plays, so probably they are my favourites... On the also like list: Saints, Vikings, Bengals On the dislike list: Cowboys, Patriots, Giants What I like about NFL is how every play is constructed and planned to the last detail. In the beginning, I just thought that the running back would run at the players and hope for the best. Later I realised that those gaps do not appear per chance: the blocks are designed carefully so that a hole will probably appear at a certain place and time for the running back to dart through. It looks great when they succeed! Also I like the explosivity of the NFL. The players are primed for short, insane bursts of energy where they give it their all. A Rugby player wouldn't have the explosivity to compete in the NFL whereas an NFL-player would never endure the constant, grinding pain of an entire rugby match. I find that I also enjoy european football more after watching NFL. The free motion, creative and open environment of football gives a much wider frame for the participants. Yes, this can result in very boring games but it can also produce sparks of creativity that are probably only seen in the NFL in those situations where the QB is rushed out of his pocket and needs to improvise. Hooray for sports. (oh and don't get me started on the entire draft system, where the least succesful are favoured so that over time they will be more likely to enjoy succes. Every dog has his day in the NFL )
Rut Posted 10 December, 2009 Share Posted 10 December, 2009 On the also like list: Saints, Vikings, Bengals On the dislike list: Cowboys, Patriots, Giants Swap the Vikings for the Broncos in your like list. Add the Steelers & Chargers to your dislike list and job done. If you haven't actually got a team then try betting on who is gonna win the Superbowl this year. http://www.oddschecker.com/american-football/nfl/superbowl-xliv/win-market shows the current odds. How about a tenner on the Saints @ 11/4, a fiver on the Bengals @ 16/1 and 2 quid on the Broncos @ 40/1. If any of them win you make a profit. Those wild card places and post-season games will seem so much better when you actually care who wins...
Seany S Posted 10 December, 2009 Share Posted 10 December, 2009 I am in love with the "NFL - America's Game" documentary series which gets shown from time to time on Sky Sports. Lavish documentaries which cover particular seasons or great teams in history, narrated by A list celebrities, with relevant talking heads and some incredibly cinematic camera shots of the plays and how it went down. Last night was the ultimately unsuccessful 98 Vikings, with the awesome Randall Cunningham - Randy Moss partnership. Some of the bombs Cunningham put up that year, and the incredible catches (some of them were goddamn superhuman) from Moss were just jaw dropping. Throw Cris Carter and John Randle into the mix and it was another hugely entertaining blast from the past. They make your average club produced footy end of season vid look like Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus.
Saint George Posted 10 December, 2009 Share Posted 10 December, 2009 I didn't know there was an NFL thread! Hell, the Giants @ Saints game was rigged, so why not the Saints @ Redskins ?.....Things have never been the Same, since this secret and explosive video evidence of the NFL 'scripting' the Giants @ Saints game was leaked Rigging the NFL There's even been some video evidence of what went on under the hood during 'that' Redskins Fumble/Down by contact, decision here After the review, Fumble!, 1st Down, New Orleans

Didn't mean any offense there...Just a little dig at the press who seem to be forgetting there are 52 other players on that team ...and yeah, especially Adrian Peterson. Having said that, it's a truly amazing achievement for Brett Favre to be playing at the level he is at his age...unbelievable and the best of luck to him...untill he ever meets the Saints of course
