I played American Football (third string) whilst studying in the states (there wasn't a rugby team at my college, although some colleges in the state did have rugby teams). I have never played a 'sport' with such a bunch of absolute fannies. They were all thick as pigsh*t too: managed to get to college on scholarships. They had to have plays explained to them 20 times before they understood them and when we knocked about some plays without pads, they went down like sacks of poo. I remember this one guy crying because he was pushed over. What a ghey game. The only thing gheyer are those that watch it though. Seriously, those tight game pants attract homos. I kid you not.

Take a book.

See? there speaks someone who knows nothing about the game...

Watch some action, go get a beer

Watch some action, go get a beer

Watch some action, go get a beer

Watch some action, go get a beer

Watch some action, go have a pee and get a beer as it's the two minute warning

2nd half

Watch some plaction, beer get a glow

simples.

Saw the first ever game at Wembley Vikings v Cardinals, and then 49'ers v Dolphins Marino & Montana for the 1st quarter but the REAL value of the game is you normally get through more beer than during a decent day at cricket and you don't miss a thing.

What ever happened to that bloke who was on Channel 4 doing the NFL show when it all started being shown back in Blighty?

People are being a bit harsh with it just because it's all a bit camp.

There's plenty of room for both hetero-centric sports like football and more gay-friendly sports like NFL without people having to get superior about it.

Also, it's probably unfair of Dubai Phil to say that you can just spend the day in the bar without missing anything. I'm sure there are some interesting bits in the game, you just need to change your expectations.

I love watching NFL. How can you not love Superbowl Sunday? Every year I get together with mates, stay up til the early hours and get completely massacred watching it. Last year was good but the year before, with the amazing play to Plaxico Burress that ended it, was just off the chain awesome. Personally I follow the Packers but keep an eye on Baltimore as well.

This season I will watch with interest how the mighty Brett Favre gets on for the Vikings - lots of folks have written him off but he is not just statistically one of the greatest of all time, he has utter balls of steel. Was funny seeing him illegally up-end someone by basically laying down in front of them in the preseason game last week >_

Would love to go to Lambeau Field one day, Title Town baby!!

NFL is fantastic- definitly the sport I most enjoy watching on the box. Sunday evenings are rubbish Feb thru August.

Loving watching the college football on ESPN America as well, Notre Dame @ Michigan on Saturday night was simply awesome.

Going to Wembley game again this year.

I am a lifetime 49ers fan, due to having an Uncle who lived in the Bay area and introduced me to the game in the sixties.

Its akin to following Saints in that the eighties were brilliant to watch, with Joe Montana, Steve Young, Jerry Rice, Ronnie Lott etc but since then apart from a couple of isolated seasons, we have been utter she ite. Often due to incompetant ownership. ;)

However, a surprise opening day win at last seasons Super Bowl runner-up, Arizona has surpassed Saints. So far.

that mistake knock on in the denver game was unbelievable ..

I was actually at that game as a Broncos fan. That touchdown was down the end I was at.

There's no segregation at NFL games but I didn't get any sh**t for going crazy when it happened. Well the people round me were ok anyway.

At least at NFL games you can take your beer to your seat. There's even a cup holder for it - very civilized. People were stood up for every play - no hassle from other fans or stewards about it.

A good day out.

Next game for me is Broncos @ Indianapolis on 13 Dec. Anyone else going? lol

Whats the deal with TV coverage this year... is there no Monday night games?

Nope, and no red buttons games either.

Sky have 6pm and 9pm on Sundays, and will have all Thursday, Friday and Saturday games. 5 have SNF, but no-one has MNF.

Apparently they are still going to get someone to try and show it, and I wonder if ESPN will buy it when the baseball season ends?

I think the MNF is still broadcast by ESPN in the States and so I was shocked that it wasn't on this week.

Shouldn't they want to show it over here to help sell the subscription for their Prem league package?

Also missed seeing any highlights on 5 of the earlier matches, along with Carlsson's appalling puns.

Just been watching 'The Drive' with John Elway and the Broncos on utube. This is an awesome sporting moment. Also a tribute to Walter Payton, the greatest of them all. A couple of sporting geniuses.

Interesting Elway No 7 Le Tissier No 7 Payton No 34=7 Paine No 7. Might be something in that number.

Lets hope for a Saints double over teams in green this weekend.

Broncos go 3-0.

Watched them win so easily @ Oakland that it was almost pitiful - *almost* !!!!

Dallas next week - a game you can see in the UK. Enjoy.

Just watching the Sunday night game. Arizona were set to go 10-0 up. Turned it over though and at half time it is 21-3 to the Colts. The score doesn't quite tell the pattern of the game but ho-hum.

Broncos @ Colts in December is set to be 2 unbeaten teams.

Broncos go 3-0.

I'm quite annoyed about this. My Seahawks traded for your first round pick in the draft, and we thought you'd be absolute rubbish, a top 5 pick. As it is, you're looking a very competent side, and we're perhaps 9-7 at the absolute best but fully expecting SF to win the NFC West.

I'm expecting us to get trounced at Indy next week. This is not what I signed up for!

since going to my first football game a few weeks ago (local college, nothing spectacular) ive really taken an interest in it. decided to follow the Bears as i have friends in the chicagoland area. currently 2-1 s not a bad start to the season! apart from that i dont really have a clue!

Broncos & Saints top their conferences :-)

I'm a touch worried about the Saints. Worried because this is the first season for ages where I haven't put any money on them to win the Superbowl. I'm on the Broncos @ 80/1 but didn't put a bean on Saints...

I guess I could back them now but they are only 8/1. 8/1 to win the Superbowl??? Wasn't that long ago that they were often 8/1 to win a game!

Can't believe that the Vikes/Green Bay game isn't on tv over here.

Watched the Ravens go down to the Patriots last night. Flacco sent some lovely passes down at the death with about ninety seconds to go, however the wide recievers conspired to flap at them in the manner of my four year old daughter. Really wanted them to win as well. Can't stand goody two shoes Brady and the Pats.

Ooops.....8/1 still looks good though :).......Saints are red hot this year...and so are my

Season Tickets....71k sold for the 4th year running and a 40k waiting list :)

The Saints defence destroyed the Jets yesterday, scoring 14 of the 24 points and when you couple a defensive like that to the legendary No1 Offence in the NFL .....there's only going to be one result :)

4-0 baby!......Bring on the Giants

WHO DAT sayin dey gunna beat dem Saints? ...WHO DAT.. WHO DAT!!!

no monday night football on uk tv at present, not enough viewers to justify cost per sky/channel 5
