Leicestersaint Posted 13 September, 2009 Share Posted 13 September, 2009 I don't think that we have made enough runs with 205. They are 116 for 2 after 20 -at least Trescothick is out for 44 (SR = 142!). We need to bowl them out which is very doubtful.
Leicestersaint Posted 13 September, 2009 Author Share Posted 13 September, 2009 They need 21 off10 - I fear we have lost this one and don't seem to be taking the Pro40 very seriously.
manji Posted 13 September, 2009 Share Posted 13 September, 2009 I think Hampshire are more concerned with the Championship and are now using Pro40 to try out different options. An action shot we took of the promising Riazuddin below See Fletcher is back from SA and helping the team with final run in too
corsacar saint Posted 13 September, 2009 Share Posted 13 September, 2009 I saw Fletcher too, I reckon the club were[are?] extremely worried about relegation and got him back pronto. If we put the lack of effort we put into today against Somerset against Durham, we will be lucky to pick up even 2 points. We were totally awful, and flat.[ I feel terribly sorry for the three youngsters in the team].
Leicestersaint Posted 13 September, 2009 Author Share Posted 13 September, 2009 I feel that top teams take every competition seriously - we shoudl be doing that and not going through the motions.

If that means playing Tahir as opposed to giving him a rest (I assume/hope he is not injured) then I disagree as he is crucial to our season and I'd rather stay in CC1 as opposed to winning the Pro 40 which was highly unlikely even before today and losing our Division 1 place in the CC would be a serious dent to our ambitions. For sure we would have no chance of signing any good new players. Anyway a lot of teams are giving younger players an oportunity in the Pro40, makes sense to me though it would be fair to say if we were lack lustre then there seems no reason for that and that IS unfair on those who pay good money to watch. That said the season is far too long these days and that's not taking into account off season cricket and especially the IPL. I don't think it is coincidence Dimi has not been playing that well recently though I'm not blaming him for taking the money on offer especially the way England treat him. Tahir's last game for us for a while is this weeks 4-dayer. He misses the last one against Yorks to return to SA to play for the Titans. They are just making sure he is fully fit. Good that he is fit, not good he misses the last game of course so even more reason to keep him fit.
saintwarwick Posted 14 September, 2009 Share Posted 14 September, 2009 I feel that top teams take every competition seriously - we shoudl be doing that and not going through the motions. As chrisobee has mentioned our league status is at stake and we need to secure that. It was impossible for us to win this league before the match started so why not rest players before our crucial last two championship matches. I realise you pay good money to watch your team win but we play to many tournaments to try and satisfy everybody.
