st_tommy Posted 12 September, 2009 Posted 12 September, 2009 This team is now playing like a team. Apart from maybe 20 to 25 minutes in the second half we were the better team. And that was without Jaidi or Papa Waigo. Davis Had nothing to do 7 Thomas Solid 7 Trotman Strong 8 Perry Good 1st Half Tired 2nd 6 Harding We would struggle without him 8 Sniederlin Still flatters to deceive 6 Lallana Good goal Faded 2nd half 7 James Not really good enough 5 Hammond Strong dependable Midfield dynamo 8 Mills Lively Gives good width. Dangerous 7 Lambert Won Everything 8 Subs Jaidi Immense 8 Mellis Not good enough IMO but shored up the MF 6 Papa Only on for a few minutes
DrZuess1979 the 2nd Posted 12 September, 2009 Posted 12 September, 2009 I`d Agree with all the above (did you go up to the game)
RedAndWhite91 Posted 12 September, 2009 Posted 12 September, 2009 Definitely witnessing vast improvements now, working like a unit and a team, more so in the first half than the second today though. First half you would have thought we were top and Charlton were bottom. Good result though i'll take 1-1, pretty accurate ratings although I'd drop Lambert to a 7 and raise Perry to a 7. Plus Waigo looked good when he came on albeit for a few minutes, did some cracking tackles and chased the ball like he really wanted it.

But what do I know,if he had done this maybe we would have lost! Oh and Saints fans were fantastic today...great support! Edited 12 September, 2009 by surrey1saint
Rasiak-9- Posted 12 September, 2009 Posted 12 September, 2009 We definately are improving it has to be said. We still need to sort out a few things though 1. Someone else has to take corners from the left, Lallana played well but he simply hasn't got a good enough delivery on him (which is criminal considering we've now got a fair bit of height in the box 2. Lloyd James isn't really good enough, always ends up as a bit of a passenger when in midfield; he doesn't beat players, score goals, play through balls or tackle. 3. Lambert needs support. Again he was far too isolated and although he won his flick-ons we had no-one running onto them, which has translated into... 4. A very worrying lack of goals. 5 in 7 games is terrible and never scoring more than 1 in any one game isn't good enough. That really has got to improve if we're to get out of the relegation zone. BUT positives were there showing improvement since the start of the season: 1. Mills on the left is brilliant and certainly helps balance the midfield being left-footed. 2. The defence is basically sorted, especially once Jaidi's fit as lets face it he is better than Perry.
Huffton Posted 12 September, 2009 Posted 12 September, 2009 however I would like to know why Pards didn't bring Jaidi and Papa on at half time http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1795429,00.html Can't really argue with what he says. Things are definately looking up.

I've only managed to see one game so far this season and we were anything but a team on that day. If I have one concern it's that we aren't scoring many goals, but we are picking up points and it looks as if we have stopped leaking goals Once we get that first win, I think we'll be on the way up again
Pilchards Posted 12 September, 2009 Posted 12 September, 2009 The worry I have is we are turning in some good performances like Brum and today but we suddenly produce crap too like last week. I really want to take my children to the next home game but after last time they don't wanna go for now, it frustrates me!
offix Posted 12 September, 2009 Posted 12 September, 2009 Your basic premise, that we are becoming a team, I do agree with. Too optimistic though to say that Davis had nothing to do when they got two disallowed goals and hit the woodwork.

We were winning at half time and gambling with two debuts could have lost it for us. IMO he brought them on at the right time. Crowds

Hit post, perhaps he didn't feel he had to move for it as the post had it covered.
